Wife says in order to buy a bike, the sports car's gotta go.
Car runs AMAZING! It's got 103k miles, of which I put some 26k miles (I bought the car with around 77k miles) in the 3 or so years I've owned it. Prior owner was also a rotary enthusiast and took very good car of the car as well. 10-8-10 psi boost from the twin sequential turbos. Amazing throttle response. Between 16-18Hg of vacuum at idle.
I've done most of the preventative maintenance personally, including religiously changing the oil/filter every 2k miles, flushing/changing the coolant yearly, fuel filter every 20k (it was actually done at 97,000 miles so it's good to 117,000 miles), spark plugs every 15k miles, etc. No leaks of any kind, starts within 1-2 cranks (lots of 3rd gens crank and crank and crank due to poor compression due to bad o-rings/apex seals), great boost pattern, good vacuum at idle, excellent throttle response, stops on a dime (it's got AutoX spec Porterfield pads, ATE Super Blue brake fluid, and SpeedBleeders), and hasn't ever missed a shift (lot's of 3rd gens have bad 5th synchros that require a rebuild, and it has Redline Synthetic in both the trans and diff).
I replaced the spark plugs wires (Taylor-Vertex Spiro-Pro) in 2001. Replaced the O2 sensor in 2002. I also replaced the exhaust for a near new stock one in 2001.
KDR did a complete check of the car in 2001 right before I bought the car and found it to be in great shape.
The car has all the necessary reliability mods needed; a stainless steel Downpipe, Aluminum AST, boost gauge, water temp gauge, A/F meter gauge (all gauges are AutoMeter), HKS turbo timer, Racing Beat intake duct, K&N air filter, and manual fan mod (allows you to manually turn the fans on instead of waiting until 230C when the computer turns them on). Got Speedbleeders on all 4 brakes (as well as one for the clutch which I didn't install).
The car also has a Cusco front strut tower brace (I also have the matching rear one, which I didn't install because it necessitates the rear strut covers to be removed), Efini badges, and a Sony CDX-MP30 CD/MP3 head unit w/ remote and 10 CD changer.
Have some spare parts including the Cusco rear strut tower brace, some new belts, an new uninstalled TurboXS boost controller, SpeedBeeder for the clutch, new OEM thermostat, catback heat shield, and coolant hoses that go into/out of the turbo, 2 car covers, and the official Mazda workshop manual.
Located just outside of Boston. Asking $11,995 OBO. E-mail me at f2racer@covad.net
