as a big fan of car modification, who do you guys think are the best modifiers?
there are a lot of options, so some probably wont get one vote, but i think its worth it anways?
here are some examples of their work:

From this list, I'd go the legendary Top Secret. But, there are so many others out there it is not funny. Yashio Factory, Vertex/CarMake T&E, Spoon, C-West, Weld, MAX Racing, DRFT, Norris Designs...too many to choose from. But overall, not considering the ones here, I'd go with Yashio Factory.

HKS do actually make show cars, and they do make several race cars, for instance, the best and most expensive D1GP car ever made, the HKS drift car, driven by Taniguchi.
Here's a pic of it, but it's not real, it just how it looks like:

I voted for Sumo Power. I have seen a Sumo Skyline (the engine too) and it was totally awesome. It also seemed more focused on performance rather than looks, and the engine seemed very much taken care of and with quality and attention to detail.
iplaygod
Aug 15, 2004, 7:03 AM
i think sumo power won the award for the best engine care or something like that from max power live, so i see what you mean.
btw do you know how much bhp the engine has, as in mp, it says it has 1000bhp, but in the video which came with the last issue, it had 750bhp, do you know which?

HKS make projects out of their cars, eg. Tsukuba champion Evo 8 and their 570Kw Evo 6.5

man if you see some of the work Top Screct did. you will vote for them. i love the Supra they did. the wide bodykit sells like 20000USD. but it looks so nice, nothing can beat that. and they did a lot more cars. but HKS the best one they did is the Skyline which everyone can do. there is nothing special about it.

Yeah i have seen there cars and they're great. $20,000 or $2000 cos 20 grand is a hell of a lot for a bodykit. What are the specs for this HKS Skyline. Cos the Evo VIII TRB-02 is realy recent and has gotta be the best theyve done. 542Hp, heaps of HKS parts, exhaust, intakes, and more, complete Carbon Fibre body remake and holds the Tsukuba track record in its class. I think i posted a pic of it somewhere.

the hks skyline holds the world record for a qaurter mile in a 4wd, 7.67 secs or so, has 1280bhp, top speed of WELL over 200mph, 0-60mph in 2.5secs, and is a BEAST of a drag car.

Are you talking about the R33 GT-R Dragster? Because if you think that is nothing special, I think there is, since it is the fastest R33 in the world. It is awesome, and it has debuted a considerable amount of new mods to the scene such as the V-mounted Intercooler. I don't think EVERYONE could make an 8 sec drag car.
Top Secret parts are really damn expensive, probably one of the most expensive in the biz. I really like their JGTC-inspired Supra widebody, but several lesser-known companies have copied their designs and sold it for cheaper which is a bit of a bummer...

Because that's the rules. The late-model drag racing rules say they have to have the original bodyshape.

Can I put forward another tuning company? Cusco, They make road going versions of this beast of an Impreza that is raced in the JGTC
No-where near as extreme as JUN or Top Secret, but I love this car, so that is my reasoning

They tune a variety of cars, but the Impreza is the one they are famous for...

i never said that HKS does not make project cars. what i ment was that i dont think they do it for all the cars the put preformence parts on. duh they make parts for almost every car in the world. but i knew about the HKS hiper silvia. i love those silvias.
what ever everyone says i think that JUN makes the best camshafts out there. well i say this judging on the price. i mean there camshafts are like $10,000. I have never seen anyone who would spend $10,000 on their camshafts.

Hey, I know you're new and all, but try not to post in such old topics. It's a handy tip.
BTW, those 'teams' you just listed are not modifiers, but actually just sponsers of the actualy race cars.

But, back on topic, since it's alright to post on this topic, I'll have to say I have a new favourite tuner - RE-Amemiya. They are the most widely known rotary tuners in the business. Their cars are glorious.
