What do you guys think is better Fibreglass or Flexible Polyurethane
and Rigid Polyurethane?
My last 2 kits were made from Fibreglass which is easier to crack
or break but recently I was told about two other types of material
that bodykits are made of Flexible Polyurethane and Rigid Polyurethane.
I imported my new kit from a Mexican company AIRDESIGN which make all their kits with this material and you can actually twist the flex poly spoilers and it will bounce back into shape, and the rigid poly spoilers are extremely strong, it feels kinda like solid plastic and wont breack on small impacts.
So i made up my mind on whats better and think the days of Fibreglass
will soon be over.

I say Carbon Fibre, the 911 GT2 spoiler looks awesome, and so does the Type 25 Impreza spoiler (i think its that one with the CF wing)... but out of those choices, I would take the Polyurethane option... but I would like to know... why are your Spoilers suffering so many impacts??

Are those materials heavier or lighter than Fibreglass?

Carbon fiber is for ricers...unless it's a race car. I like felx urathane except for the fact that it's expensive to paint because most flex agents are costly. The only 2 companies who make them are DuPont and PPG.

I wud say maybe a flexible polyurethane dubble coumpound frame, mixed with a semi bace silacon structured epoxy resin saturated oxy sub-frame?
Or then just they wing from a Evo 7:carbon fiber is still the best

He asked for fiber glass, not carbon fiber. Carbon fiber costs a lot but is one of the better materials to use if you want save weight without compromising hardness.

Calm down man, he was only repling towards what Sk37 sayin about Carbon-fiber, i think...:-k
But for what TTBliss Said, I like CF for hoods, and hate CF body kits but towards the original post i would have to say the Flexible Polyurethane.

At the dealership, there was a white maserati w/ a "Marbled" carbon fibre decklid spoiler...looked really awesome. It was like it had the pattern, but it was like painted over and you could still sorta see the pattern...anyone know what i'm talking about?

I just think carbon fiber is useless for street cars. The weight savings on body panels are minimal at best. A VIS carbon hood for the Z is actually heavier than the stock one.
I have seen one that I liked on a local supra. He had it painted black but where the vents came out he had the paint faded so you could see the carbon fiber. Looked nice.
I have to admidt that I do have CF bezel around my gauges, but it's purely there for looks and it isent even real CF is faux and it cost $20 off Ebay

you say CF is for ricers, and you talk about a CF hood for a Supra etc, that sounds like rice, and try telling BMW, Lotus, Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari (these are the biggest i can think of, i know there are many others) that produce their sportscars with carbon fibre panels that according to you its heavier, or makes no difference, if it made no difference to a road car, then the M3CSL would weigh the same? the McLaren SLR wouldnt be as light as it is now? the Ferrari F50 is made from Carbon Fibre panels, but i guess you think that makes it heavy? I dont get where you are coming from, CF is used badly by Ricers, but used properly by real car makers where it makes a difference, and it really does, if you lift a CF panel, and an equivelant Fibre Glass or Aluminium panel, you can really feel the CF is lighter, and more rigid.
Sorry to drag this slightly off topic... but i kinda want this cleared up, maybe i am getting lost somewhere?

Most companies who make aftermarket panels for cars, the main being VIS, border and carbon creations do a pretty lousey job. CC made a supra's body out of a carbon/kevlar and it only saved 80 pounds over the stock panels. When you bring in names like ferrari and lotus into the equasion you are comparing apples to oranges. VIS and border don't have the millions and millions of dollars to R&D or even produce parts in that kind of quality that ferrari does. That is why a CF hood for most cars will cost between $300-$500, where a hood(trunk lid) for an F50 is be in the many thousands.
I have bicycle wheels made from carbon fiber that are made by spinergy, there are regular spoked wheels that can be made lighter but not stronger.
In reguards to a a spoiler, you will not save a huge amount of weight over any other material, it's strictly cosmetic, you can teel this from the type of epoxy resin used Most aircraft resins will yellow over time, the carbons is also not shiney, it's pretty dull, The yellowing is due to the chemical reaction of the graphite and hardener.
I hope this clears some things up.

Use Kevla, takes shock better than anything and it doesn't crack.

But this would add weight to the car since you would have to mount it to the existing body panel, so it would be excess weight that isnt needed...as you can see in the pic i post(yes it is off a site with 3 widebodied Supra's, 1 Kevlar, as seen here, and 2 Carbon Fiber)

If you don't want wieght you don't use a wing, you use a kamm.
