View Full Version : Anyone heard of Asian/Pacific Cars?

All I see here is civic this, focus that. a) the civic is a budget hatchback, get over it. With a lot of tuning they can produce results, however stock, even the Type-R is nothing to rave about (when put in the context of the cars mentioned below). b) the focus is a european car, and isnt as great as some people seem to imagine. it is a step forward for ford, however how about a turbo 4wd version. Subaru have proved it sells. Which brings me to the cars being produced in Asia Pac at the moment. For starters , Australia. Recently released, the new BA Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo. Packing 240kw (326HP) and 450Nm (2000rpm) torque from a 4.0L inline six, weighing 1670kg (3686lbs), it is fairly heavy, however it is only running 6psi from the factory.

Of course, japanese cars are the best value for money in the world. The R34 GTR, Nissan 350Z, Mazda Rx-8, Supra SZ, Lancer Evo 8, Impreza Sti are all attainable cars with supercar performance. These are real cars, worthy of tuning. The Supra's internal can handle 600HP stock, and with minimum mods (exhaust, intercooler, bov and remapped ecu) can produce 200+ KW at the wheels.

How about some discussions on real AsiaPac cars?

For information on hard tuned japanese cars, check out www.exvitermini.com, a site displaying Australian tuned japanese cars, including a 1350BHP GTR, capable of 8.96 1/4's,and a 300Kw (at all four wheels) WRX, with links to TAS 2003 (tokyo auto salon), and various movies, including the 0-300km/h record attempts in japan (13.72 from veilside), the JUN evo drifting at a tuners convention in Germany (awesome), a 300km/h run in a wrx on wet roads in N.Z and other insane car vid's. Well worth a look.

yeh, the supra and gtr are all hella awesome cars, but talking only about civics and focuses doesn't mean we hate them. i for one actually love the supra and gtr more than the civic or focus.

anyway, the point is that nobody's thinking big enough (at least not for now) in this forum. someone has ought to talk about a supra or gtr or z car or whatever pretty soon (it's not like no one in this world has a supra).

Civic and focus are around the £15K
Impreza, Evo and XR6 are all around 30K - twice the price

Thats why they arent always mentioned together

I just wanna say that this forum has lots of room to grow which is a GOOD thing, I don't see why you expect nothing but constant talk about super tuned 'god' cars.

Variety is the spice of life

Oh, I AM a silly American btw, and I don't really know the conversion of Nm of torque and kW to Lbft of torque and Hp. Are there any sites that anyone knows of that would help me in this translation process until I know relatively what each of the stats are equivilant too? Thank you all so much :D

In the US, there are about 20 other cars like the civic :D

But I think the civic's the best cuz its reliable and can take down 5.0s with a little nitro :D

As I know The US there is no company Like honda for example they cant be regular cars and lexury car thats why they got 2 names honda for the standard regular cars acura for the lexuries cars.

for example
Acura RL is the same of Honda Legend in the all world but the US I mean the acura RL called honda legend in all the world but the US
Acura RSX is the Honda Integra
Acura TL is the Honda Inspire
Acura NSX is the Honda NSX

you see what I mean.
but the acura are little bit more lexuries than hondas.
acura RL in the honda legend but its a liitle bit more lexuries

its exactly the same of lexus and toyota
you can see the toyota names of the lexus SC and LS and Es..........
here

lexus dont have little cars as toyota....
most of there models are "taken" from benz ...
so there is no regular and family or small cars at lexus ...
for exampe is there a lexus which is almost the same as a toyota corolla ??

but i think your right about the honda stuff ... i really dont really know !

going back to power to torque formulas - hp=torque*rpm/7023.5
formula 1 doesn't have much torque but it revvs up to 18 000rpm's so it has lots of power (up to 820 hp)

and to asia/pacific cars - aussies are makin' some nice stuff like HSV HRT427 - 7 litre V8 it has 560hp and gets to a 100 k's in 3.8 secs!!! it's limited edition of course but it's good) http://www.fast-autos.net/holden/holdenhrt427.html check it out

all the lexuses in the world are called lexus but in Japan called as toyotas I mean in Japan there is no Lexus cuz all the lexuses are called as a toyota cars even they got the toyota logo, toyota wanted to call there lexury cars as lexus cuz some people wont pay a lot of cash on a toyota cuz they dont no want these cars got just they heir the name and they go back so toyota named there lexury cars as lexus so people will buy lexus cuz all over the world know that lexus are heavy high quality lexury cars.

the main reason civics are popular is because they are inexpensive to mod. To be even more specific, Acura is Honda's north american "luxury" division and acuras are only sold in the US. the RSX is not the integra rather it is most similar to the honda accord coupe. They share the same engine and drivetrain.

Thlam

only the base engine is the same the accord EX trim has an availible V6. They are not built on the same platform. I am not sure aobut drive train but the vehicles are very different. Acura are Hondas but with more luxury they are the same cars for example take the acura RL is a Honda Legend.

Toyota is Starting to introduce thier luxury devision of Lexus into the Japanese market now too, and when you say "taken" by Mercedes what do you mean? That they are direct competetors. If you want to see taken look at the recent mercedes concepts, there are some "borowed ideas" that i see they have taken from lexus is....: LED headlights, this was first introduced on the Lexus HPX concept and now everyone is using it on thier concepts including mercedes

Thlam, do you ever read peoples' posts correctly. You, in essence, were trying to correct me when all you did was repeat what I said. I never said they were based on teh same platform to begin with. Read it correctly next time.

Atomsk is right, and it seems SleePer 21 really is sleeping. I think all those 64 posts he made at this point are posted in dead threads....
