NASCAR fans...how much do you know about NASCAR's new car they'll be running in a year or two???
The whole front section is about 18 in. shorter...looks kinda gay.
I DO NOT like the wing (bottom one)

Just shows further how ugly NASCAR's are.

The body looks like they picked up some guy's tin shed after Katrina, hacked it up and welded it on.

The basic idea behind the new car is good: a wider car with better driver protection and higher drag (so they can get rid of those damn restrictor plates!). That wing is not finalized. It would give downforce w/o blocking as much air (and downforce) from the car behind, giving better drafting/slingshot passing.

I'm not sure this is a done deal, even at the phase-in schedule NASCAR has announced/decreed. Between test, short track, intermediate track, superspeedway, and road course cars; multi car teams like Roush and Hendrick can have 100 cars. Chassis can have a useful lifespan of 3 years or more before being sold off to smaller Cup or ARCA & ASA teams. Making these cars obsolete too soon would be a huge financial loss.

Never the gentleman, Felix Sabates calls the new car a "load of crap."
Ever the gentleman, Jack Roush has expressed "serious concerns" about the financial burden of these changes.

With huge budgets, F1 teams (in shrinking numbers) can build new cars and engines in a year or so. If FISA announced in July a new format for the next season, FOCA would say, "No Way, Jose!" There would be no show! The constructors/teams have power.

In the mid '70's, up to 120 accepted cars/drivers would attempt to qualify for 33 starting spots at the Indy 500. About 1978, USAC and Indy management announced major changes affecting car construction for the next year. Team owners, with millions invested, said, "No Way, Jose!" Thus, CART was born. They contracted with the tracks (road and oval) and sanctioned and operated the races. Indy had no choice but to go along or they would have no show! The constructors/teams had power.

Gentleman Jack Roush pointed out that he has long term contractual obligations to sponsors. He also pointed out that while a car gets money just to start, he has no appearance contract with NASCAR.

Could this be a hint of a possible unification of teams? A last minute driver boycott of the first NASCAR race at (terribly rough) Talladega didn't fly. A reduced field still pushed 200 mph for a slightly smaller crowd. Big deal. It would be a different story today. If the top 20 cars/drivers boycotted a few races; the TV networks and the tracks ISC doesn't own could bankrupt NASCAR. NASCAR would have no legal recourse against the teams. Think about it.

Good thinking...its smart.
I don't like the "car of tomarrow", but one of the big changes, is very big contrasts and differences (looks) between manufactures...Chevy, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota (Hate to say)...I think that will be a good thing.
The first shedualed race for the new car is 1st race at Bristol, 2007.

If you let constructors write the rules; you will get races where only a few teams win. Nobody will watch/care.

If sanctioning bodies like NASCAR or IRL write the rules without constructor input; you will get crap luzer racing. Other than 2 time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart, nobody has come UP from IRL (impotent racing league). Everybody else in IRL with a name came DOWN from some other racing series. IRL was intended to be lower cost than CART; but they achieved a higher attrition rate (DNF's) than CART, F1, or NASCAR in their first 5 years.

CART has been poorly managed. IRL has recently learned to turn RIGHT! US open wheel racing is ripe for unification. It will never happen if inbred/idiot Tony George is involved.

A mod is a moderator...What can Staff do?

Administrators have the power to do anything; see your IP address, IP ban, appoint moderators, make new forums, edit forums, edit threads, edit users, ban users, and a whole list of other things.

Moderators can only edit, move, close, and delete threads in forums they moderate. To see which moderator moderates what forum, you can check the Forum Leaders page mentioned above.

NASCAR is really lame.. you watch a bunch of cars drive with the exact same body and virtually the exact same engine drive around in circles for three hours. I mean.. don't you have better things to do? OMG EARNHARDT PASSED A GUY.. OMG.. they could be going 5 mph and you wouldn't notice a difference. Atleast in F1 racing and drag racing it takes a little more skill.. and is a little more interesting. I mean, maybe if they brought back brand interest.. like.. letting manufacturers build their own cars it would be cool. Right now nobody really gives a damn what car wins, its all about the driver. They're basically celebrities. It's become "hollywood-ized", and thus lame.

USA HORSE
Mar 09, 2006, 12:16 AM
I love stock car racing and drag racing mainly, I have to agree with you saying NASCAR's become "Hollwoodized", but don't even try to say that it takes any less skill.

Monkey-seriously man, every thread I have read it has seemed to me as though you have attacked and are out to get USA HORSE. Yes he writes a lot of rubbish and I see why you do it, but I expected more out of you especially considering your a mod. Your better than that and you know it.

By the way I mean no disrespect by this post, I am just pointing out something you could improve on.

I don't think he was backing you up as much as talking to me. I don't take it as disrespectful bro, I understand where you're coming from. I've pm'd him about a couple things and they keep happening. You're right I am a mod and because of that I try to keep things somewhat on topic. Horse just happens to stray a lot. Even mods have a limit. lol. I have nothing personal against him, but we already have Tabber and Driftster (no offense, you guys know I love ya! lol).

I should pm this too but... Horse, I haven't been out to get you for any personal reason. I don't have anything against you. If you're going to be a member and have respect from other people here you have to abide by the rules. Don't make threads for everything that pops into your head. If you have a simple question about something don't make a thread about it. PM somebody and ask them, hell, ask me I'll be glad to help you in any way I can...
