As much of a Fezza fan as I am, I actually cried out for joy when Michael crossed the line so late. I'm punting for Raikonnen, can't wait for this one!

Alonso won. this race was awsome. lot of crashes. Schumi crashed really nasty as Liuzi too. The best race till now. ohh an Jenson's engine blow in the last two corners on the final lap and didn't make it till the finish line like 100feets from it.......... Speed finished eight....

no man. Kimi finished second. Alonso just was fast.....

Yes he was. Everyone gushes superlatives on how fast he is and how much better he is than Alonso, yet, when it comes to the race, he has the majority of the race to prove himself, yet he gets absolutely monstered.

It was a great race.
I wish Kimi did better. Or at least close the gap between him and Alonso. It was a pitty that there was so many safty car laps.

What happend to Pablo Montya?

He understeered off into a wall.

Saved it.

But then broke down, due to an electronic problem.

That race was brilliant. I was late tuning in, but got there just in time to scream out with joy when Schumacher was disintegrated. Call me morbid, but after seeing him dominate for so long it was a welcome relief.

And Buttons incredible finish? He was spitting chips, and so was I. That plume of fire coming from his exhausts was phenomenal, I'm really glad it wasn't serious.

And you guys should stop complaining about Raikonnen, he haulled so much ass in the last ten laps it wasn't funny. He closed the gap between himself and Alonso so quickly, all he needed was one or two more laps and he could have had that.

The question there is - did Alonso get those leads because of the car, or his lightning reactions once the safety car pulled off?

Top Secret
Apr 02, 2006, 4:04 AM
One of the reasons why he hauled so much ass in those last few laps was because Alonso was in preservation mode, shifting several thousand revs earlier. He knew he was going to win, so he just backed off.

And say if Alonso wasn't in preservation mode, and Kimi was really catching him, then why the heck didn't he do this earlier? Hmm?

And yes, Alonso did win because of his car - watch the first few laps and you would've seen the huge margin he had over the rest of the field.

Like Murrary Walker said "If it wasn't for the safety cars, Alonso would've been in the next country by now."

Didnt Raikonnen pull fastest lap in those last stages? Hmm? And how did he get so far away from Schumacher 2?

And lol @ Murray Walker. I think I missed that bit.

He did, but that doesn't explain anything.

After Kimi finished I kind of looked away but when I heard the comentators I looked around and the first thing I saw was a car that looked like it had rockets attached.
It was the biggest shock of the race after Monoya spun out in the practise.

Yes he was. Everyone gushes superlatives on how fast he is and how much better he is than Alonso, yet, when it comes to the race, he has the majority of the race to prove himself, yet he gets absolutely monstered.

Without that lap traffic near the end, I'm positive he would've caught up. He was very close on the last corner. It was blatantly obvious that he was catching up fast.

See, it's one thing to just sit in front the whole time. Kimi has done that plenty of times. But it's another to fight your way to the front. I'm really not impressed with Alonso's performance at all. He's a showboat. Kimi, on the other hand, pulled some great moves. Did anyone see that pass on Button? Locking the brakes and diving down on the inside. That takes some serious balls, because he could've easily gone into the traps.

However, the MVP's were Button and Speed. For some reason, Button just had a slower car. But damn, he fought hard. He fought harder than anyone else in the race. Speed also barely held off Coulthard, who has hundreds of races under his belt. I thought it was glorious.

Overall it was a decent race. God damn F1 cars are so damn fragile, though. I mean, come on. A few bumps and you're out? Lame.

Coulthard is appealing to the stewards about Speeds 8th place, aparently Speed passed Coulthard under the safety car.

It was a really good race, the best one of this season but watching Jenson Button is frustrating, he just doesn't have the speed.

F1 needs to allow lapped cars to move ahead of the leader under cautions. during the restart alonso had two lapped cars in between him and second place.
it's not fair to the second place driver who now has two get pass two slow cars to even be in a position to pass the 1st place driver.
if button decided to finish the race he would be in second place overall.

i think Mercedes cares more about Kimi. that was hilarious when Montoya had to wait behind Kimi in the pits because Kimi was taking on a different wing.
if montoya was in front holding up Kimi they probably would have sent him out without a front wing. they know he wouldn't finish they race anyways.

I think McLaren cares more about next year...McLaren scares that Raikkonen will leave McLaren and go to Ferrari...

Raikkonen is with the right car now. The Ferrari's aren't doing very well this season, and not only do those McMercs fly, but they look incredible.

I personly love the way they look.
Thats one of 2 reasons why I support them. The other was Kimi's performance in the first F1.

I know I'm the only one here who cares but Villeneuve scored points for the second race in a row with the BMW and this time he went from 19th to 6th at the finish. Pretty darn good if you ask me for someone who supposedly is a "has been" !:-k :p

Admit it. You only like him because he's Canadian.

I usually follow him, but I've been too caught up with everyone else. He is a good driver, and will always be a good driver. He's a world champion, so I don't blame him for slacking the past couple of years. He's probably never going to get another one, so why bother killing yourself? Either way, he's a good guy.

That's tacky, Mopar68. Jacques (call me "Jack") kicked butt in CART before he went to F1. Montoya did the same. I support North/South Americans vs Euroweenies that never had a V8...

That said, it's hard to rave about a mid-pack placing in a race with a 10/22 attrition rate. That's worse than early IRL.
