I'm sure many of us will watch the European GP at Nurburgring (wimp stadium course) Sunday 5/7 at 1200 GMT/0800 EDT. Speed US TV.
Some of us will watch the Rolex Grand Am race at (Mazda plug deleted) Laguna Seca CA (most excellent course!) Sunday 5/7 at 1900 GMT/1500 EDT. Speed US TV
Few (if any) of us will watch NASCAR at Richmond VA (boring track, unless 24 or his clone 48 crash!) Saturday 5/6 at 2320 GMT/1920 EDT.
I will be watching live rock 'n' roll at that particular hour.

I've given up on F1. It's really not interesting anymore, and McLaren isn't really pushing it this year, so why bother watching? I'll just read about it in the Autoweek that comes the thursday after.
I do, however, plan to watch that race at Laguna Seca. I love that track so much, and I haven't seen a race on there since the Monterey historics. I can't promise I'll watch Nascar, because I'll probably have better things to do, but I'm sure I'll see some parts of the race on Speed because that's basically all they show.

That weekend is also the first FIA GT race, at Silverstone. Too bad it won't be broadcasted on tv:((well, digital tv, but we dont have that...)

Hey Mopar, you should take a vacation sometime and go to Monterey for a weekend. You can rent cars to run the track. Check this out:

How far away is Monterey from San Diego? I'll be in San Diego from June 27th to July 2nd or so, and I need stuff to do.

There are two courses, the new, southern (stadium track), and the northloop, i.e, the green hell?
Steve's saying the Stadium course, because it's easier, is a wimpy track.

I don't think there's much to it, either. Not too many corners, I think.
Oh, and 438 miles is a litte far.

Did anyone watch the Rolex Grand Am race at Laguna Seca CA Sunday?
The Sat qual race winning/Sunday polesitting #23 Porsche/Crawford broke their shift linkage and were laps down and a nuisance at the end. Cautions cut the estimated 112 laps in a 2:45 time limit to 88 laps. The last restart with 12 to go saw freight train racing; with 6 or 7 drive through penalties called for "unnecessary contact". The poor flagman got a sore arm. (I thought they were practicing for Bristol.)
The reigning champion #10 SunTrust Pontiac/Riley hadn't had a podium this year. Max (the axe) Angelelli and Jan Magnussen (sub for Wayne Taylor) started deep; took the lead in the last green; and won going away. They set fastest lap on #44. Their previous bad luck/underdog status is recinded.
