Late with this issue; looking forward to the GP race to be shown in the US at 1200 EDT (Z-4) on CBS.
CBS showed the Friday night Houston ALMS race Saturday. See the official report here: http://www.americanlemans.com/News/Article.aspx?ID=1990
Other than to say that a Penske Porsche LMP2 led 50 laps; 3 of 4 P1 cars finished 6, 16, and 128 laps down; GT1 Vettes(-5 laps) and Astons(-6 laps) finished 2-5th; words fail me.
Spare me anti-oval track crap. There are whole threads for that. I watched some of NASCAR at Darlington won by Greg Biffle in the #16 Roush Ford. Biffle had led the most laps this season in a fast car but had poor finishes. His hard luck/underdog status is rescinded.
The CART Champ Car street race from Houston was more exciting. Drivers of 800HP cars looked like karters on the rough surface (usually in a braking zone). There was a high ratio of wheel to wheel contact compared to number of DNFs.
CBS's ALMS video looked dim compared to Speed's CART coverage. I wondered if CBS was inept enough to bring the wrong cameras/filters to a night race. Neither broadcast gave any clue to the number of spectators. Is it possible there was less lighting on Friday night? This is honestly not intended as an ALMS slam.
Speed will broadcast the Rolex Grand Am from Phoenix today at 3PM EDT.
