Seems a long way off..but no harm in speculating now is there..
Rule Changes
Only one tyre supplier..Bridgestone
Team Changes
McLaren: will be called Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes after signing a primary sponsorship deal with the telecommunications company late in 2005.
British American Tobacco's Lucky Strike brand will cease to sponsor the Honda F1 team, leaving them to seek another primary sponsor.
Mild Seven has confirmed that they will not renew their contract with Renault following its conclusion at the end of 2006 and current European tobacco laws.
Races
The Japanese GP will move to the Fuji Speedway
The Mexican GP may return
Possibly have an Asian GP at Suzuka
Drivers Speculation
Ferrari: Kimi Räikkönen has also been linked strongly with Ferrari.
Renault: Heikki Kovalainen is expected to take Alonso's seat, alongside Giancarlo Fisichella who is likely to stay at the team for a third year.
BMW-Sauber:Jacques Villeneuve is likely to be dropped who could possibly be replaced by the team's third driver, Robert Kubica.
Red Bull:It has been reported they are interested in his services meaning he could be driving a Ferrari-powered Red Bull in 2007.
Toyota: Michael could well drive alongside his brother, Ralf in 2007.
Vodafone Mclaren-Mercedes: The partner of Alonso is been narrowed down to 4 possible drivers:
Kimi Räikkönen, if he dosen't get the Ferrari deal.
Juan Pablo Montoya, who is looking for a long term contract but is unlikely to get one due to the presence of Lewis Hamilton at McLaren. He is said to be looking for a deal with Renault, BMW, Toyota and Red Bull.
Lewis Hamilton who is currently taking GP2 by storm, and is contracted to McLaren. He's unlikely to jump straight into a Formula One race seat though, with a year of testing or driving with a back-of-the-grid team the preferred option.
Nico Rosberg, even though Williams have a contract with him for a few more years but he could be bought as like Honda did with Button.
It's been rumoured that MF1 are keen on extending Christijan Albers' contract at the team.
Team Speculation
Super Aguri: Are likely to continue in the championship after their attempt to join the 2006 season was accepted by the FIA. In this season Aguri will be using a chassis of their own manufacture and will be better prepared for the season.
Williams: It has been rumoured that they will secure an engine supply deal with Toyota, although the engines might be badged as Lexus.
Midland: Toyota might cease supplying them.
Eddie Jordan: has suggested the possibility of Michael Schumacher and Ross Brawn continuing their partnership after Schumacher's possible retirement this year in the form of a new team backed by the Volkswagen Group. The team would run engines badged either as Volkswagen or Audi.

Some updates.
Schumacher will not race for anyone else other than Ferrari. With the incident during qualies yesterday and how everyone attacked Micheal, it's speculated he will likely retire.
JPM is not comming back to McLaren next year, Ron Dennis already told him his services are not needed. Also new, rumours are afloat about his possible 2 year deal with Renault.
Spa might come back if there is proper money and promotion.
JV is performing well as of late and some feel he could stay one more year. Also he says he feels he can accomplish more in F1 still. And Kubica has been less impressive recently.
Eddie Jordon will not have a new team. Dave Richard's Prodrive (who ran BAR, and currently SWRT) will receive the final team placing in 08.
Pirelli, Michelin and Bridgestone are in the running for the 08 single tire contract.
A company for the universal ECU is also being sourced.
And I beleive there is to be an engine freeze at the start of the 08 season. All development to be done before the start or a given date and none afterwards. Renault and Ferrari support this rule while Honda do not.
Bunch of other changes but I cant remember them right now.

Schumacher goes to Toyota...
Räikkönen goes to Ferrari...
Alonso goes to McLaren...
There will a fight !
But I'm sure that the McLaren "may" win the constructor's championhip.

Alonso and McMerc? Why did I think he was going to Ferrari? :o
Anyway, I hear Valentino Rossi's finally said no to Ferrari, he's been having such a dodgy season in MotoGP this year, and he won't even think of leaving until he's beaten Doohan's championship record.

toyota mite start finishing in top 10's if schumis goes there.and we'll get to see less of kimi walking along the circuit after his mc-laren quits on him coz hez going to ferrari(not sure).as for mc-laren winning constructors...it's kinda tuff.no matter who races for them,if their cars r not reliable..not even stirling moss can help them.and ya...i am a guy.

I wouldn't leave motoGP for formula 1 either.
I'm not fdriving in moto GP, don't even have a bike licence it's just that I wouldn't.
Rossi is a talented biker. Born on a pushbike and will die on a chopper (by a chopper = chopped).
I don't see him flourishing in autosport anytime soon. It's just too different.
As for the formula 1 update, suzuka is a great track. One of the best worldwide even though the surface isn't as neat and nice all the time.
Fuji again another great track and more interesting then most tracks in the current line up.
I personally don't mind seeing the tobacco companies leave the scene as sponsors. Although they left huge amounts of money it was like watching which pack of cigs won the race.
In general, less money into formula one would make it into a better raceing formula in general. There is a philosophy behind that statement, it would take me to long to explain right now though.

Change is good. F1 needs change.
I certainly hope it's more even and exciting than the races I've caught.
I'm a big Superbike and MotoGP fan now, fr the past few months I've watched it with a lot of excitement.
So much more exciting, close and spectacular racing than F1, Rossi has made the right choice I feel.

Schumie is not leaving ferrari. Despite the FIA's morronic penalty he just passed 17 cars at Monacco. Now that requires a lot of skill.
He will stay until 2008.

Schumacher is a money hungry financial prostitute working for the highest bidder.
I would instantaniously change places with him if I could though :p
As it is, ferrari is one of the few teams able to afford him.
I can se ewhere the statement comes from.
EDIT:: before people start getting strange ideas again, I woudl not want to look like schumacher, just earn $40 000 000 a year for being an attention ***** would be my thing completely

Schumacher's company car is a 575M. Do you honestly think he'll jump to Toyota??

Yeah, he's been thinking of trading in his 575 for a nice Prius, they get REALLY good gas mileage.

porbably nothing^^ lol
and also he can buy whatever he wants so a 575m..is probably cheap to him..
Evo_power
Jun 02, 2006, 7:33 AM
With gaining $40,000,000 a year, yeah, a 575M is cheap to him. With a price tag of around $220,000 it takes up about half a percent of his income to buy one. To put that a little bit more into perspective, if a man were to make $60,000 dollars a year, which is a fairly respectable income, spending half a percent of HIS income would total to a whopping 300 dollars. I've had trips to Costco that were around that price. Or thats about 2 or 3 textbooks. He could give every student at my university (Oregon State University: 18,000 students) $2000 dollars each, and still have 4 MILLION dollars left over. EACH YEAR! What does this man do? He drives a car around, really, really, fast. He does what we all want to do, except we pay to do it. ANyone that tells you that life is fair, the world has a balance, things even out in the end...is flat out lying to you.

To be honest, and not only to sound like a saint, if I were ever to make those amounts of money a year I would give half of it as a donation to improve education in the country where I would live.
Students are screwed over worldwide.
A formula 1 car with university logos on it would look boring though.

Damn... where's Spa? I thought they would be using that track again in 2007.
So they are gonna quit the Monaco Grand Prix In 2008? Things are going pretty well for Ecclestone and his travelling circus. The Belgian Grand Prix was the best race since they stopped using the Nordschlefe in 1977 or so.

Oh I didn't think our's looked too bad..
http://groups.engr.oregonstate.edu/SAE/Formula/
Its a mini-formula car, but it sounds more awesome then the motorcycle that we jacked the engine out of. Its also fast as all get out. It doesn't have an insane top speed, but for the small track we race it on, it doesn't have to. No, this is not just an overpowered shifter cart, its MUCH more advanced. The car we have this year is a lot better then the one we made last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. Total cost is around 30,000 dollars to build. Thats excluding the fact that we work for free too.

I really think Pirelli's are the best tire manufacturers - Bridgestones suck

Jun 03, 2006, 10:24 AM
Bridgestones aren't too bad, they were THE tyre to beat in 2004, but in 2005 they sucked.
But I suppose it wouldn't be too bad to see three tyre manufacturers in F1.
Then there would be a really big tyre war going on lol.

Yeah - on Top Gear when they tested the Ferrari F430 round the track it was slower than the 360 (albeit the Challenge Stradale) but they said if it was on Pirellis rather than Bridgestones (The 360 was on Pirellis) then it would have won
bennyboy
Jun 03, 2006, 11:35 AM
Oh yeah I think i saw that one
But the F430 is a road going car, and the tyres are designed for a long stretch of tem, whereas F1 tyres are now designed for a stint ( a certain number of laps in between a pit stop) and its probably a different concept on smooth purpose built tarmac, not airfield tarmac.

Yeah but Ferrari F1 last year with Bridgestones was a BIG mistake

I agree, but they seem to be getting back on track this year, though, with Schumacher getting two wins and a couple of podiums aswell.

So what your saying is that you are judging a tyre manufacturers whole range from one occasion on the TV???? Also how well a race tyre performs has no real link with road tyre performance, they are completely different environments. So Bridgestones are worse that Michelin??? USA GP 2005
bennyboy
Jun 04, 2006, 3:55 PM
lol vmax- i agree, hes basing tyre performance on an F1 car with one occassion on TV!!!!
And also I just saw the rally of Sardinia on TV and the Pirelli's got three punctures on one stage.
Riiiiiiiight.....theyre the best tyre manufacturer, eh
astonmartin138 please think about everything before you post things
You're posting your opinion, and you are coming to a conclusion that ''Bridgestones suck'' when they are one of the best tyre manufacturers in the world.
You seem to be annoying quite a few people on SCF so I suggest you think about everything before you post, not just saying that things ''suck'' when they do not ''suck'' and start thinking like a proper sports car enthusiast, which this forum is about, not being a biased person who thinks his opinion is the correct opinion!
