Is the only reason loeb is winning most of the rallies now a days because there is the lack of competition? I dont even to bother watching it now, because firstly the channels have stopped showing it and 2 all the drivers are unknown and not very entertaining. Back in the 2002/2003 seasons loeb hardly won nothing. This was IMO because there was the likes of richard burns, carlos sainz, colin marae, tommi makkinen, gilli panizzi, harri rovanpera, Markko Martin, Francois Duval, Toni Gardemeister and back then the likes of peter solberg and marcus gronholm was good.

Colin will, if given a decent car, just not sure if he will be competitive. Who's in it again next year, Ford and Subaru, plus Citroen?

2002 was his first full year in WRC and in 2003 he lost only by 1 pt to Solberg. 2004 he won the title with 6 event wins, 2005 he clinched victory in the 9th round and broke several records and was 2nd only to Heikki Kovalainen in the Race of Champions.
The competition around him ain;t that bad - can;t believe your doubting "the Flying Frenchman"!

he is winning coz he is in a gr8 car and has more skill than u will ever have, in my opinion rallying is one of the most challenging motorsports as the terrain is always changing and u dont have all the gadgets that f1 has

Exactly. I've always liked rallying, and although it may not have the background and glamour that F1 has, it will always be a sport that's focussed to the cars and the drivers and the events.
It's a more to the point sport.

u dont need half as much skill to drive f1 as rally, they have so much electronic safety equipment its all good for the driver but takes the raw driving pleasure away from it, u cant even stall the damn thing, rallying is about the car, power and driver skill and reactions

Exactly, rally drivers have to cope with stages made out of mud concrete gravel rock all sorts of things and it's inconsistent, whereas F1 drivers have the one surface which they can concentrate on mastering.

I think the Focus RS WRC is the best rally car, Loeb is just a very quick rally driver. period!

car lover !!

yes but the point is would loeb still be winning everything if the drivers I mentioned were still around. It likes, schumacher in is ferrari against a bunch of GP2 drivers also in F1 cars, obviously schmacher would win because there is no competition

yes, but schmacher against a bunch of less talented drivers, schmacher will always win

in f1 its not schumacher thats good its the car he is in, i read an average driver with some practice can do 2s a lap slower than schumacher in the ferrari test track, if an average driver does that whats a pro gonna do??

The first time Valentino Rossi ever got in a formula 1 as a test run he was only 1 second off of schumachers all time record at ferraris test track.

Talent wise Solberg is just as good as the rest of the past champions, it helps that he has had a good car to compete with though.

I think we're confusing talent with car ability here. Fact is, if you put Schmacher in a Rally car against loeb, he would sh*t his pants, same goe's for Loeb in a F1 car. They are both the best at what they do, stick Schmacher in a Williams-Cosworth and he will still be very fast. The guy has skill, and we don't! Well, except me of course... lol!

i admit he has skill otherwise he wouldnt have a job lol, but the fact is the car makes him look better, valentino rossi as proven that its him that has the skill since he moved from honda to yamaha (to which i was disapointed) also i heard about the time trials rossi did with f1, f1 and rally are 2 completely different sports with totally different rules and cars,

Give them both a little bit of practice and it will be quite close.

And Damon Hill....

bennyboy

Schumacher wasn't invincible with Damon Hill.
In Adelaide '94 Schuey deliberately wiped Hill so he clinched the title.
Williams were going to lodge a formal protest about Schumacher winning the championship, but for Senna being tragically killed in Imola.

The main or only reason he wins is because Marcus, Petter crash out or have problems. Look at Monte Carlo, Sweden, Greece. Loeb didn't retire or have problems and Marcus still won.
