French GP Qualifying is on tomorrow, Alonso and Michelin look like a strong package but they have got Schuey and Bridgestone breathing down their necks.....I reckon Alonso will nab pole, but I want Schuey to win the race, because I want the second half of the season to have more spice than Alonso's dominant winning, winning, winning all the time.
What do you guys think?
Here are the free practice results, Robert Kubica is blitzing everyone in the practices and is looking like an extremely strong candidate for the 2007 BMW Sauber race seat if they don't sign up Jacques Villeneuve in the near future.........

I really think it's gonna be Alonso's day..

I have a gut feeling that that's going to happen aswell, but I really don't want it to be, I enjoy watching Schumacher win more than Alonso.
I also want the second half of the season to be more exciting. i want the championship to go down to the wire, that will really sort the men from the boys.

No it's more like, thank god Schumi isn't winning!

I enjoy watching Schumi winning by big margins, I find it exciting.
I also watch Raikkonen winning, but there's something about Alonso that nags me, I don't know.
I want Schumi to win the World Title this year, aswell.
Go Schumi!

I reckon the second half of this season is going to be a lot closer, Ferrari have brought their heavely revised car and now Renault are playing keep up.

I want to Schumi to wipe that smirk off Alonso's face this weekend, because I'm getting rather tired of Alonso winning, winning, winning.

I don't think that Alonso shows his smugness, he is an incredibly mature driver for his age.
BTW, qualy results

BORING race! Had not Trulli blown up; the top 7 starters would never have fallen out of the top 7 positions, even in the pits.
There were some nice shots of Alonso leaping from curb to curb like it was Alpine Slalom, LOL!

There's the result, not exactly an edge-of-your-seat race, but I'm glad Schumacher won, would have been nice to see a ferrari 1-2, but Schumacher was definately the best driver, the Ferrari/Bridgestone package was unbeatable and it works well.

Kimi is getting weaker...why ?
bennyboy
Jul 16, 2006, 11:40 AM
It's his car.....it can't deliver.
In winter testing they were behind in the development game, if you looked at the times, the engine package wasn't powerful enough and everything with the car wasn't working in harmony.
They also didn't have good reliability, in some of the tracks in winter testing there were a few breakdowns, electronic failures, etc.
It's a shame because Kimi's 2006 car isn't doing Kimi justice. He is a great driver, but his car isn't working properly, although since the start of the season they have introduced engine upgrades, wing upgrades, suspension upgrades, etc, but it's just not working and he's lacking in raw pace, although today in the race (French GP) he was catching Fernando Alonso towards the end, but then Ralf Schumacher leapfrogged him at the pitstops.
McLaren just need to concentrate on getting some decent results in the remainder of the season, but it's going to be hard, because they will be angry and frustrated with Juan Pablo Montoya going to NASCAR behind their backs.
But, next season I dearly hope that McLaren will be back to business and winning races and challenging for world titles, but unfortunately it hasn't happened this season because they simply haven't been quick enough.

It will be intrasting to see what happens to Mclaren next year, if they can get a good car going they should do pretty well, Its going to be Kimi and Alonso next year right?

Nobody's 100% sure where Kimi will go, some say he has already signed a multi-year contract with Ferrari but Kimi will say nothing about it, and some say Flavio Briatore wants Kimi to race for Renault next year, which would be nice to see, but it could happen!
As for Alonso, in December 2005 he signed a multi-year contract with McLaren, but seeing how uncompetitive they (McLaren) are in 2006, there are a few rumours going around that Alonso is trying to wrestle himself out out of McLaren's contract to stay with Renault for 2007.
So, it could be Kimi and Alonso next year, but there are several other drivers which could come into the frame, but nobody knows whats happening for certain.

dam that was a pretty rubbish race, the only thing which kept me amused was the live timings on the f1 website, pretty cool package.
Button retired as per normal nowadays but this race reminded me how much I hate the Magny Cours circuit, dam its boring.

It was boring, the best race was Indianapolis this year, lots of crashes, lots of high speed corners, but the infield part of the lap was quite boring.
I don't mind the Magny-Cours circuit, a few fast bits on it, but there should be more overtaking places, the only place to overtake is by the hairpin at the end of the ''straight'' (in inverted commas because there is a little kink in it).

that was quite a boring race... well, at least the championships is still open. i actually support Honda, but they've had a really bad spell and Button is really not happy with his car. he said the 'balance is great, but its too slow, the engine has not got the power and the tyres are not getting the temp or grip they need.' shame really...

Face it folks, F1 is a CAR race in its worst sense. Schumi couldn't put a Honda or a Cosworth up front.
