New to this forum, so thought I would start by telling you about my passion.

Sat 26th August sees the World Championship Final at Mildenhall, U.K. For the BriSCA F2's. These small single seater stock cars are powered by a 2.0l ford pinto engine and race on both dirt and tarmac ovals. The World Final is the culmination of a years worth of qualifying for this prestigious title which will be fought out over 25 laps of the tight dirt oval. Racing is full contact, meaning you can "move" slower, (or faster!) competitors out of the way. The title is being defended this year by #H24 Willie Peters, from Holland.

Sat 2nd September sees the World Championship Final at Coventry, U.K. for the BriSCA F1's. These are the bigger brothers of the F2's. Bigger in size, these awsome machines are powered by V8's, typically Small Block Chevy's producing over 650 BHP! Racing follows the same principles. Competitors fraom Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A., Holland, Germany, and of course the U.K. will be fighting it out again over 25 laps. Deffending World Champ. Frankie Wainman Junior #1 will be hoping to push his way all the way from the back of the grid after failing to qualify through the semi finals. Being World Champ. gives F.W.J the right to deffend his title from the rear of the grid regardless.

Hi all,

There may be a chance it could make sky tv, most likely sky sports. Weather you can get this channel in the states I am not sure, but keep an eye out..... There is more chance of the big boys making it onto t.v. mainly due to the wider range of competing countries:-k

Check out http://www.stoxnet.com there are often links to video clips of meetings, or you could do a search on youtube.com for "brisca" there are quite a few videos being uploaded there at the moment, I'm sure the world finals will make it on there soon after the event!

Just to let you know, #79 Gordon Moodie from Scotland won the F2 world final last night, in true style taking the leader on the very last corner. There was a good crowd and the race was fantastic from start to finish. 2nd Was Mark Simpson, 3rd Tim Farrell, and first overseas finisher was Willie Peters # H24 from holland, last years reigning champion.

The young Scotsman took an early lead, only to lose it early in the race, Simpson then lead for the next 20 or so laps. Moodie, after an early tangle with a back marker, never lost sight of the back bumper of Simpson. On the last lap, Moodie made his move going into turns 3 + 4, pushing Simpson wide with a text book move. Moodie strode accross the line to take the title, to great apprieciation of the crowd, Simpson followed closely for the second place with Farrell some way behind.

Moodie showed his delight with a few doughnuts, and then exited the car, standing upon his aerofoil, punching the air to the delight of the crowd.

Well done Gordon, you drove the perfect race, with great control and calculated expertise.

The BriSCA F1 World Final was won on 2nd Sept by #391 Andy Smith.

On a near perfect track surface, Smith lead from flag to flag. Ex world champ #53 John Lund who started along side Andy Smith on the front row, had the chance to take the lead going into the 1st turn, but was unsuccessfull. Smith powered away and lead all the way. During the race Smiths rear brake caliper became loose, and threatened to ruin his chances of glory, and towards the closing laps, the disc was seen throwing sparks off.

Drive of the night came from #1 (now #515) Frankie Wainman Jnr. Wainman started from plumb last on the grid, having failed to qualify through the semi finals. Wainman was gifted a place as deffending champion. From the start it was plain to see Wainman was on a charge, pushing his way through to take a well earned 2nd place.

3rd place went to #390, Stuart Smith Jnr, Andy's brother. The brothers are the sons of ex world champ Stuart Smith Snr, one of the most successfull drivers of all time. Smith Snr, aka "Super Stu" wore the #1 for many years, and is one of the sports all time favorites. Andy now takes the lead for the family, and no doubt will want to match the old man's record.

Look out on youtube.com for footage soon.

As far as I am aware there were 2 aussie enterants this year and 2 NZ drivers too. Check out www.stoxnet.com (http://www.stoxnet.com) you should find some more info there, and also pictures. A few short video files have been added to www.rollingstart.net (http://www.rollingstart.net) also. I can't remember what they call it exactly over your way, but I know they race at Brisbaine or however you spell it.

Some of our British drivers will be going over to NZ early in the new year to compete for the NZ world cup, which is quite similar to the way we do things, although those crazy Kiwis also do team racing, which is completely insane!
