The Nurburgring and Imola have been dropped from the 2007 calendar.

Weren't we saying it was unfair for a country to have two races?

Well, the FIA has acted and those two races have been dropped, resulting in a 17 race F1 calendar, with the re-introduction of Spa-Francorchamps.

I think this is good, because it gives other countries a chance to get on the F1 calendar. Bernie wants a South African Grand Prix aswell.

2007 Formula 1 calendar

Australia – March 18
Malaysia – April 8
Bahrain – April 15
Spain – May 13
Monaco – May 27
Canada – June 10
United States – June 17
France – July 1
United Kingdom – July 8
Germany – July 22
Hungary – August 5
Turkey – August 26
Italy – September 9
Belgium – September 16
China – September 30
Japan – October 7
Brazil – October 21

I think a lot of people did aswell, it's probably that the FIA didn't think it was fair for a country to have two races in it, and I think it's a good thing in some respects that they were dropped, because it gives other countries the chance to enter the world of F1, maybe a second Oz GP, Kylami, India want to have a crack at it aswell, there's so many good tracks just waiting to be recognised.

2 F1 races in Australia wouldn't be to bad if they were on the other side of the country.
Considering Australia is bigger that Europe with a lot less in the way to cheap public transport.

I quite liked the Nurburgring, it's steeped in history and there's overtaking spots, which we need in F1.

Suzuka's also being dropped for Fiji, but Suzuka might re-appear in a 'Pacific GP'.

I also liked Imola, as we all know that's a track steeped in history and tragedy, but there wasn't enough overtaking spots there, and it did need a lick of paint aswell, though.

I would love if F1 cars were allowed to race around the Nordschleife, it would make for fantastic racing.

Well but Imola is the Grand Prix of San Marino which is an independent country from Italy. Italys only Grand Prix is Monza!!

I love Imola but Nurburgring isn't so good track, I remember when Mika Hakkinen said he don't like it too. It has really impressive history and races but it is nothing extraordinary, just all tracks in the world in one, imo the most usual or ordinary track in F1's calendar. Notwithstanding i would like Nurburgring to stay because ot its historic races and i like the idea of taking turns in one or 2 years of some tracks, because i love to see more tracks but the drivers say they are tired of races and 18 per season are enough.

Don't get too technical:p

They're in the same country, really, so it kinda counts as Italian.

Yes, it is, I think it's been secured for 2009 so far:)

Oh yeh, Spa is back in business, I love that track. I won't really mourn the Nurburgring as it is just a very diluted Nordschleife but Imola is a nice track but imo rather drop that than Monza. Kylami sounds good and if the Bathhurst circuit gets introduced the championship will look pretty tasty.

Yeah, LoH and I agreed that Bathurst of Phillip Island would be a welcome addition to the F1 calendar, slipstreaming down Conrod, taking people out, and the climb to the summit of the hill and the twisty sections......that would sort the men from the boys, eh?

I think you misunderstood me. Phillip Island has its own track. Mount Panorama has Bathurts on it and thats in central NSW.

Good move, those two tracks are the most boring ones in F1 racing right now.

Actually im pretty sure that nurburgring is gona b d race in 2007 4 d german gp.

This is from f1live.com:

"The single event for 'Germany', meanwhile, is almost certain to be the Nurburgring, traditionally host of the now-defunct 'European' Grand Prix.

The victim, then, is Hockenheim, but the circuit is hoping to return to the calendar in 2008 as the two German circuits install a scheme to alternate the country's single race".

Also i reckon a race at Bathurst would b AWSOME. watta mad track!!!

I could only just understand what you were saying there, but Hockenheim is staying for 2007 for the German GP, because only the Nurburgring and Imola re being dropped, there was nothing on www.itv.com/f1 about Hockenheim being dropped.

sad day indeed as these are two classix tracks but does give a glimmer of hope for South Africa to get a round in the future maybe?

Maybe, but I've just found out that the FIA is raising questions about the calendar, so the 2007 race calendar is not official.

San Marino may be back in 2007, and so may Suzuka in the Pacific GP.

EDIT: Nurburgring may hold 2007 German GP.
