who do you think will win the f1 world championship this year M Schumacher has 96pts and Alonso has 108pts
Tom Kristensen
Aug 31, 2006, 4:20 PM
Fernando Alonso. He would still win if he came second at every race from now on, I think. And he always seem to be better than Schumacher in some way. When he's leading a race he's really leading a race - he usually just run away and drive his own race in peace and quite while the others are fighting with each other. I know Schumacher has been close lately and he's also won against Alonso many times, but I think Alonso will manage to drive the victory home with a fair lead over Schumacher.

Michael Schumacher.
Even though Alonso only had to come second in every race, I think Ferrari will be getting quite a lot of 1-2 finishes this season. We know Massa is quick, seeing as he won in Turkey, and if he can maintain that pace behind Schumacher, Schumacher will be getting a hell of a lot more points than Schumacher. Schumacher knows how to win titles, and so does Alonso, but Schumacher has that little bit more of an ''edge'' I believe than Alonso, no disrespect to Alonso.

I have this feeling that Schumacher will finish much stronger than Alonso and roll him for the title in the last race.
I think Ferrari will also win the constructors title because Massa has clearly improved.

Aug 31, 2006, 9:42 PM
Ferrari takes the constructor's championship.
As sad as I am to say this, Fernando will win yet again. I can't see him not runnng well, unless he has something break or if he crashes there is no way Michael can catch up.
Before Turkey I would have said sure Michael will get it, but I think that it hurt him that he finished behind Alonso.:(

-constructor's championship : Renault has 160 points, Ferrari has 158 points. they r too damn close , no one can predict which will win.
-Driver's championship: Alonso has 108 points, Schumacher has 96 points. i think if Schumacher and Massa remain with this good performance and always be fast and be in the pole ,with a little bit of luck, Schumacher will have a chance, and i dont think that he will give up now, he will keep pushing till the last race. no one knows who will win , thats the beauty of F1, the challenge till the last race.

Alonso..why? because, he is the better driver, he proved that at Turkey. He good at being under pressure, he's more fair than Schumacher and he has the potential to be the new Schumacher (with a totally different attittude). All Alonso has to do is come second for the next four races, and he's done it:)
Unfortunately, I feel Shcumacher might pip him to the post :@ at least he will give up then (hopefully :p) So it's good eithr way :p

Yes, I think he's going to announce whether he carries on or not on race day.
I hope he doesn't retire, regardless of if he wins the World Championship, I love Schumacher, I love how he dominates, yes, he's made some mistakes in the past but I think he will be missed if he does retire.
I really want him to win 10 World Championships, that would be absolutely incredible.

I have big respect for Alonso and Schumacher.
I want Schumacher to win Number 8 to get his career onto a brand new level, with eight World Championships.
If he retires, and it was say, Alonso versus Villeneuve (which is never going to happen!) I would support Alonso because I like Alonso as a driver, and as a person, even more.
As for drivers, my 100% committment goes out to Honda's Jenson Button.

Only having the possibility to drive the right car, Trulli could be the driver! ;)
Unfortunately he drives Toyota and also beeing the second most rich manufacturer on the world, they still do not have race.

OK, so maybe ten champiosnhips is being a little greedy, (:p) but c'mon, if Schumacher retires this year and McLaren have a season next year like this year, who in God's name is going to challenge Alonso? Nobody will, because nobody will be able to touch him or the Renault.
You have to agree, the 2006 season is shaping up for a grandstand finish and it has been an absolute belter this year, I've been following since 2004 and this one's been the best, and if Schumacher goes.....well there's going to be nobody left to give us seasons like the one we're having now.
Schumacher's got to carry on, he is the meister:)

Button's car is always getting better too...

Sep 03, 2006, 9:48 AM
Woops, yeah, sorry I meant McLaren.
But if Alonso goes to McLaren they've really got to clean up their act because they're nowhere near making a car that can be the class of the field, the Ferraris are nearly a second ahead the closest opposition.
When Michael dominated in 2004 it was fun watching him own everybody around the race track, lapping everybody, but corkers like 2006 are really hard to beat, I just don't want somebody like Alonso running away with the championship, I want somebody to challenge him, like Michael:)
And Button reckons he could be in the hunt for a strong finish in Monza next week:)

I really hope Alonso gets the title and Schumacher steps down. Then some fresh talent will come into Ferrari who driver wise have become a bit stagnant. Also then there will two Ferrari drivers competing for the world title rather than just one and rear guard whose sole job is to hold other cars up.
Also bennyboy since you have been watching since 2004 you only had to sit though one season of Michael Schumacher dominating. I can remember sitting through '02, '03 and '04 of Ferrari domination and it gets a bit tedious I can tell you. I like the balance this season with Renault and Ferrari being fairly evenly matched.

same here man , my dad and i watch every race of F1 , but these seasons(which u mentioned) were "boring" , coz there was no challenge on the driver's championship or on the manufacturors championship, Ferrari and Michael Scumacher dominated F1 in these seasons . Ferrari was on a different Level then the others , and that made the F1 not fun to watch at that time . But now , well its all different , there is Renault which is competing with Ferrari and can beat it, and there is a balance on the Driver's list , Alonso is a very tough and great competitor and he prooved it , he is the Champ of last season , and this is the Beauty of F1 , challenge till the last race .

It was crazily fast, wasn't it.
One race that really sticks in my mind was Magny-Cours 2004, where Schumacher made up a pit-stop's worth of time to go on a four stop strategy, and Schumacher and Brawn pulled it off brilliantly, it was a masterclass in how to drive a race and how to win a race, stunning stuff.

OK, I agree that Alonso's penalty for supposedly holding up Massa was absolutely absurd, but Ferrari reckoned he held up Massa, so they have the RIGHT to go and appeal, and they did and it turned out in their favour. They didn't go and appeal because they felt like it, they appealed because they reckoned they could have had both the Ferraris on the front row.
FIA prefers Ferrari?
Monaco 2006, Schumacher makes a mistake, doesn't intend to park it, but jumps at the oppurtunity to make a mess out of things so does park it (I think) He gets sent to the back of a grid for something not so disastrous anyway. Yeah, they really favour Ferrari.
Jerez 1997, Schumacher barges Villeneuve off the track, but Villeneuve wins the championship. Schumacher gets disqualified from the 1997 championship results. If the FIA favoured Ferrari they would have penalised Villeneuve for not getting out the way of Schumacher.
Hungary Qualifying 2006, Alonso gets a two second penalty, which, quite frankly, he deserved. Cutting up Doornbos, brakes testing him and swearing at him. Did the FIA see this as an oppurtunity to favour the Ferraris? No, they abided by the rules and copped Schumacher a two second penalty aswell.
It's fair play.

Ferrari will do anything to win, that appeal is just their way of saying, 'this is what should have happened', and they knew it would turn out in their favour.
And your saying it's a coincidence that the Alonso {the winning champion} was holding up the person who's job it is to make sure Schumacher wins...hmmm....
Barging someone off the track is cheating in the first place 8-)

Sep 15, 2006, 3:29 PM
Sorry I didn't realise that.
I don't reckon that the Italians will let Ferrari win all the time, they like winning, not supposed cheating, and I bet you're just saying all of this because everything is going against Renault and Alonso, if all of this crap was happening to Schumacher and everything was exactly the same as it was now but happening to Ferrari, you wouldn't accuse Renault of cheating because they're your favourite team, you'd probably say it's all fine and dandy.
Sorry if it seemed if I lashed out because I didn't mean to.
As for Alonso, well, IMO, he's gone. I don't reckon he'll be World Champion this year, they're quite obviously on the back foot, haven't won since Canada in May, everything seems to be going against their will but they haven't given up, which I admire, but I think things are becoming a little desperate at Renault.
Alonso's gone too far, branding Schumacher as the most unsporting man in F1. He's lashed out at him, because he's feeling the pressure, whereas Schumacher is feeling cool as a cucumber.

I might have wanted Alonso to win but he's being childish now, lashing out at Schumacher, branding him as 'unsporting' and all this crap, he's the one that's being childish, I bet he can put up his chat to all the TV cameras and all the interviewers and the journalist, but he can't put it down on the track, that's what really matters, you can't win a championship by being in a b*tch fight with two drivers, I reckon Alonso should shut his mouth and get on with what really matters.
When he says he's going to batter Schumacher to deep hell (not literally, but you get it) he normally loses and gets annoyed, but when he shuts his mouth and focusses on the job in hand he usually gets the job done and wins the race, I reckon he should keep schtum, not for other people's benefit but for his.

yup i am neutral, i used to like Micheal Schumacher when i was a kid (but then i was getting bored by the domination of Ferrari on F1 starting in year 2000....), i used to like when Hakkinen and Schumacher competed, and even coultard, and when Villeneuve was a champ in 97 , there was a competition in F1, but after Hakkinen left , Schumacher began to win the championship in points before then the season finish lol ,anyway, then BMW came to the picture with it's drivers Ralph.S and Montoya, and i loved Montoya's driving style , very aggressive and his battles with Schumi and with the others were great but now he is gone , but now there are 2 drivers whom i like , Raikonnen and Button... but i am Neutral lol , i am with the fair play and with the beautiful driving ...

I like Raikkonen, 100% Button, shouting my nuts off at the telly when he won in Hungary, give him the car and he would have won titles, if Ferrari did a 2005 in 2004 he would have been World Champ already, he's a great driver, Honda need to get their socks on in 2007 if they want to win some races.
If Raikkonen gets the car, he can win Titles, I would bet a fair bit of money of him winning the title in 2007, he's got the car, he's got the skills, he's got the balls to do it, I think everyone agrees.
