Alright alright, call your parents call your mother call in sick to work. I have a special treat for you. I'm telling you this is a diesel Pug, diesel Pug! Have you seen this thing, it will be at Le Mans 2007. I'm telling you it's gonna knock your socks off. It's like an R10 only it's 117 times nicer. WOW!
Oh my fusking God... It's a closed top! The looks of this thing gives the Bentley Speed 8 a run for its money!

Oh my god this looks so nice! I love the way the body lines are. Looks so much better than every other race car out there. Can I buy one?

Sep 28, 2006, 9:17 AM
Can I buy one?Maybe. But probably not before 2008/09-ish, and Henri Pescarolo is most likely Peugeots preferred choice for a privateer 908 anyway.

Can't wait to see the real thing At last Sports car racing got what it needed so badly - an inter-factory rivalry in the LMP1 class
I just have one question Will the engine be making 700bhp with the restrictor plates or without the restrictor plates?? I think the R10 makes around 660bhp with the restrictors

Beginning December 2006: first drive of the car by test driver Éric Hélary."

Wow, this car does look exceptionally good, although the closed top is a bit too narrow for me, but nevertheless, this is a great leap for Peugeot, and I'm sure it will help them make better road cars too.
Not sure that ti might win at Le Mans, but it is definitely a competitor the the R10, which is a fantastic car, but you never know, if Lady Luck is on it's side, it may have a shot of victory....
A nice job by Peugot, the lines look very clean, looks very aerodynamic, it is powerful as hell, and an all round good car for Le mans.

Peugeot doesn't expect victory in 2007. But in 2008, they think the car should be developed to a point where it could pop Audi's ass.
I agree. The greenhouse is too high and too narrow. It looks better when it's low and wide - like on the Bentley. But nonetheless, it looks better than any other Le Mans car - even the Toyota TS020 GT-One.

Here's some pictures of the model car from Paris auto show. Looks even better than the computer generated pictures.

Again, still another mock-up. I wonder if the real car exist...

908CC? WTF!?! Open toppers sucks... Well, they don't. But they're certainly pissing on my sugar sandwich if they make an open top and prefer it to the closed top.

yeah, I can travel on the ferry on my own, since I'm old enough, meet grandparents at ferry port (I'm going to Le Mans with gramp) and then the place we stay just 15 mins drive from Le Mans, the other year when I went there I could cycle to Le Mans every day if I wanted to.
So if everything goes to plan, we could go and see Le Mans, but I could have seen you there aswell, but for the exams:p
The exams suck, I didn't go on holidays this summer because my sis was doing GCSEs.

Its almost a year away, You'll have time to pick out a nice camera, wait a while, find it on ebay for a 10th of the price and buy it. The entry levels are cheap now.
If you shop around you might be able to get one for around 80 quid (est)
all that=I wanna see it
It'll probably be at Geneva next year so I'll see it any way.

Final update for today.
More real pictures of the mock-up at Paris + the first real picture of the HDI engine I've seen so far.

I think it's gonna be heavy as hell. There is no naked carbon anywhere, everything is painted. It looks nice, but it will give it a disadvantage if it's supposed to race in that livery.

The car looks great but does anyone know are the close tops have better aerodynamics then open tops and if it's like that then why audi made R10 open top?

The car looks great but does anyone know are the close tops have better aerodynamics then open tops and if it's like that then why audi made R10 open top?An open top has a smaller frontal area, a closed top has a lower .cd.
According to the current regulations, it is impossible to move the rear wing far enough back away from the greenhouse. (It creates turbulence on a closed top, which disturbs the downforce).
Untill 2007, the closed tops were running without airconditioning, which made the drivers really sick - so sick that they couldn't drive for much more than an hour.
And, of all things, they have a thick airfoil. That's not ideal, as it slows the car down by suction and lift.
Closed tops
+ Looks
+ Marketing!
+ Cd
+ Airconditioning?
+ Larger engine restricor (Because of the mandated aircon)
+ From 2010 all Le Mans cars are going to be closed tops.
Open tops
+ Lower frontal area
+ Aerofoil
+ Safer?
+ Not as much turbulence is flowing onto the rear wing, and hence disturbing the downforce.
+ It's easier to make competitive. You face a shitload of problems when building a closed top - Safety, weight and aerodynamic issues. But when a closed top works, it certainly works!
Why did Audi build the R10 as a open top..? That's a good question, but if we look back, we will realize that the R10 was made before ACO mandated aircon (and lager ristrictors) for closed tops, and it was made before ACO announced that all the cars will have to be closed tops from 2010.
Add some logic to that, and you'll think that if Audi were going to built the R10 now, they would make it a closed top. You will also think tht ACO is trying to screw Audi with constant requlation changes, but that's not really a surprise.
Confused? I am. That's why I try to stay as high as possible

It's not a secret that I did it to draw some attenzione. On a serious note: 30 September 2006: Peugeot V12 HDi DPFS engine to be run on engine test bed.
I don't know exactly what that means. But If some of you find something about it, post it here!

the vehicles is drop dead gorgeous......it is the best closed top out there I like it better than the Bently........there is only one flaw to the car though.....the front end where I circled it in the picture should be flat across without a gap in between....I think it looks stupid......but then again that is my opinion.....either they fill the gap or make the two things smaller like an F1 car.
below is the original and my "fixed" version using paint.:D

yeah it looks very cab-forward and the nose looks like it's straight from a F1. Still , these closed cabin racers are gonna be great to watch.

wow it looks absolutely sensational!!! I'm a huge fan of peugeot, especially when marcus and peugeot ruled the WRC. Now it'll be great to see peugeot make an impact at Le Mans like they did in the early 90's.

Update: http://www.mulsannescorner.com/news.html
That sounds like sad news - Peugeot claims the show car will be "90%" similar to the actual car which in turn is set to run in early December. OMG! If that's ten percent of uglyness..! Then what?
Jesus, I won't get one night of uninterrupted sleep untill December. This news really gives me bad nevers and thin-shít!

Hey! ...I thought Porsche had legal rights to all car model numbers with a "0" in the middle. What the farg? They even made a car called Porsche 908.

Porsche wanted to call the 911 the 901. Peugeot had the rights to the 0 in the middle and wouldn't let them.

Lol. Woopsy daisy!
But how came Porsche made the 909, the 908, the 907 the 906 and the 904? Christ, Back then, you could bang anything you wanted, take all the drugs you wanted, smoke, drink and hate the country. I guess they didn't give a damn about legal rights and all that.

Peugeots 1007 couldn't be called the 'one double oh seven' because they couldn't get James Bond's lawyers off their backs.

It ended up with a really (Ssangyong) name.
