Hey all, here's a little WRC update for everyone.

As some of u may know, Seb Loeb has broken his arm in a mountain bike accident and will miss the upcoming Rally Turkey (13th-15th Oct). Seb's team Kronos WRT needs a replacement to help defend its position at the top of e Manufacturer's table, and hola! The last driver I expected them to ask has been confirmed to take the seat of the Xsara!

Colin Mcrae! Awesome news...

His last WRC event was in Rally Australia 2005, where he ran as high as 2nd place in the works Skoda Fabia WRC, before being excluded from the event due to problems at service (bummer). Mind you, no driver in WRC history has managed to get the, somewhat problematic Skoda up to a podium position in a WRC event, so that's a pretty decent achievement from the '95 world champ.

Still, I'm not placing my expectations too high for Mcrae in Turkey. The Xsara was never his favourite drive; he didn't win an event, or even come close to winning whilst he was a works Citroen driver back in 2003. He has only done Rally Turkey once before in 2003, that's a major disadvantage to the likes of Gronholm and Solberg who will be at their 3rd attempt this year.

But what the heck, what's a hero without his supporters? :D If McRae could get the Fabia up to 2nd place on the leaderboard, who knows what he might be able to do with the Xsara with passive diffs? Here's wishing the flying Scot all e best for e upcoming Rally Turkey!

yes, he is a legend without doubt. however, I back gronholm all the way. a win here for him is a great way for him to lessen the gap between him and loeb. good luck to marcus. and to colin of course!

He competed in a Skoda in rally Finland 2006.

But this is awesome news. I was quite shocked to hear that Seb Loeb has broken his arm and won't be racing, this allows Gronholm to close back up, but the championshi is pretty much signed and sealed.

It's great for McRae to return to the rallying scene. IMO he's still the best, even though Seb has won more rallies. I like McRae more, he has mroe charisma, and won with more flair. I can't wait to see him back into the action, it will be fantastic.

Well in Colin!

jonny_gsx,

I get my rally news either from e telly or from these 2 websites

Official WRC site (http://www.wrc.com)

Rally-Live (http://rally.racing-live.com/wrc/en/index.shtml)

Unusually, Rally-live tends to receive breaking news FIRST before e official site. Hmmm

bennyboy,

Sorry, I'm pretty sure McRae wasn't in e 2006 Rally of Finland. I checked out the entry list (http://www.wrc.com/page/EntryList/0,,10111~200607,00.html) and his name wasn't there. Besides, if he had been driving on that rally, it would have been the highlight of the rally for me! I'm a huge WRC/McRae nut. :D

Well he definitely raced in 2006....or was it Rally of Great Britain 2005?

I think it actually was in 2005, sorry for mistake, I;m an WRC nut too.
