Damn, that will own if Schumacher teams up with Audi. I only hope they will have three cars for 2007 then!

To Schumacher 12.5 million is mere chump change......:D.......only reason he would race is if he thought he could win championships and many races and build another mini-legacy for himself at LeMans and DTM.

I was actually pondering the question of what he will race after retiring from F1......you have to realize he is only 37 and he would be very bored sitting in his villa looking out the window at one of his many Ferrari cars. I would laugh my arse off if he decides to conquer NASCAR.....haha.....never gonna happen because he sees "no challenge"............:|

Anyways I hope he runs the 24 hours at daytona in Rolex......the 24 at LeMans with Audi.......and perhaps even a few WRC races with Subaru....but I don't think the blue will suit him......:D

i was watching the practise sessions this morning on speed and the commentators were talking about this as well. would be interesting to see what he brings to the field if he went ahead with it. reminds me of talladega nights, if there was as much comedy involved i would be very happy :)

He will become an Audi factory driver. That's like being in U2 or Real Madrid.
Peugeot wants "an Italian with diesel experience" That's either Dindo or Pirro. Schumi could be replacing whoever is going to leave.

The guy has talent and in terms of age has a lot to offer to other motorport variants.

It will be interesting if this does happen.

Maybe I'm too much...lolz...He won't get an R8. It's no longer elligible. It's retired from racing. Now it's enjoying a cup of petrol together with the old streamliners at the rest home.

Also, I don't think he will be as much of an ass causing accidents etc. at Le Mans as he did in F1. He was Chuck Norris in F1. In Le Mans he will be an underdog, he's afraid of the track, and he has next to no experience compared to Hélary, Minassian, Boullion, Bourdais or whoever get to pilot the Pugs, not to mention the six Audi factory drivers.

and moreover its not all out sprint racing he gotta be careful about conservation of the car, be it tyres, brakes or gearbox or not over revving the engine

Tom K do they also change brake pads and discs during normal pitstops in the course of the race??

I told my Dad, and he says it's very unlikely.

Yeah, Ferrari will probably be paying him a hell of a lot more than $12,5m not to race for Audi.

Also, read this atricle from June 2005. He doesn't sound to be interested in participating in Le Mans at all.

Hell, It might just be PR talk from Audi because they want Le Mans and DTM to get more media attention.

I don't reckon he will go to Le Mans. Or any other racing series. If he wanted to race again, why the hell did he quit F1? He's driving like the true driver he is now, and he's even rubbished rumours of going to Le Mans or any other racing series. He actually turned down an offer from Audi to race in DTM.

Come on people, this is just common sense, if he wants to race, why quit F1?

Come on people, this is just common sense, if he wants to race, why quit F1?Same reason as why Montoya left. He also said he wanted to keep racing elsewhere, i think.

Montoya's different. he never gave 100% to the sport. Some days he was invincible, some days he was absolutely crap. He'll probably find better success in NASCAR, but it's a lot different than F1. He was a little bit of a chicken to leave F1 though. He said the car was boring him to death. And...? C'mon Juan Pablo, in anything you gotta put the rough with the smooth and stick at it. If you give up you're not going to get anywhere.

I think Schumi left F1 because of the trend toward young and new guys....some people......like Coulthard.......are way overdue for retirement. I think f1 wants new young guys, the new Alonsos that win championships at the age of 20 or so. I think schumi was pressured to leave....and he realizes that after he lost to Alonso last year, he wasn't the king anymore. Powerful yes, but not the king......

if he switches series he can bring the fast paced action of F1 into a series that is slower and can be mastered by F1 drivers........think Mika Hakkinen and DTM.......no he didn't "master" it, but is doing very well.

he aint gonna go to le mans, ive read somewhere in an interview with him he wants to just spend time with his family. hes a cheapskate, his kids only get 5 euros of pocketmoney a week! come on michael, you are the worlds first billionaire athlete for crying out loud!!!! why would he want to go to le mans anyway, if he wanted to keep on racing he would stay at formula 1. he'd have a seat at ferrari until the day he dies

Lots of drivers when they retire they say that they want to just spend time with their families , btu after all the love of speed and racing won't get far away from them , they will get back to racing ... let's take Hakkinen as an example or even other former F1 drivers, now they race in DTM for example , or Le Mans ... so i guess after a while , Michael will get back to racing but of course not in F1.

I thought Schumi was to be a Super assistant to Jean Todt in Ferrari.....How is he going to manage Le Mans and Being a Super Assistant

I thought Schumi was to be a Super assistant to Jean Todt in Ferrari.....How is he going to manage Le Mans and Being a Super AssistantLe Mans only takes up 24/8760 hours. He would easily be able to manage both of the tasks. He could practice in GT4 like Loeb did!

Day in the life of Schumacher:

0900: Get up, get dressed, go down to Le Mans for some breakfast.
1100: Supersonice flight, get breakfast, go for a few hours round the track, drifting down the Mulsanne.
1300: Get some lunch, eat lots and lots and lots.
1500: Fly down to Maranello for some more lunch and to discuss tactics with Todt for Melbourne 2007.
1800: Go back to Le Mans, stay there for a bit.
1900: Go to Maranello, discuss some stuff with Jean Todt.
2100: Unveil some new Ferrari cars.
2200: Fly back.
2300: Fly again
2400: Fly again.
0100: Sleep.

Tough, isn't it?

Tough, isn't it?Yeah, if I was him I'd just cut the crap, retire and enjoy the rest of my life at my incredible upscale, state of the art, top notch luxuriest waterfront home with underground parking for my newly acquired sports cars, and a living room with a bar to get drunk and a exotic water bed shaped like a dollar sign. Those work days seems way to hectic! I would however do it if was just at the day of the 24H Le Mans.

What, so his kids never learn to work for stuff or the value of a dollar/euro and never do well in life because they are to lazy/waste all their money.
I get 5 chf a week, (3 euro) if I don't do anything, if I want more I have to wash the dishes/cook dinner every night or keep the back yard clean. (I get 20chf for doing all that)

I wouldn't be interested in seeing him in Le Man, its a very very different style of racing.

If he wanted to carry on racing, why quit F1? It's obvious he won't be racing anymore, if he did, why did he turn his back on the sport that he loved. I reckon he should do what Martin Brudnel did, get with the German television crew and go to the races, but not to Le Mans, like LoH said, it's a totally different style of racing.
