Wow, that was a huge crash. Lucky to see that everybody was ok, there were many drivers involved. There was also so much debris on the track...

I once read an interview with Alex Zanardi where he said that no matter how much you love racing, everybody wants to see crashes.
That interview was a day before his crash on the Lausitzring where he lost his legs...

Well, it's always cool to see all the debris coming from the car when they crash. I dont LOVE watching people losing bodyparts. Maybe someday they'll have cars without people driving them and just crash them. I especially love how f1 cars crash.

Sometimes, I feel a bit sad inside :(
I quite like it when they go over bumps in the road and the front end pitches up and down. I love seeing how the car moves and behaves when this happens, like when they go over high ripple strips, like the last chicane at Magny-Cours :D
Bad crash from TK (I didn't even know he was in this year's DTM field). How did he actually lose the car though?

He clashes with Timo Scheider first, making him spin. And Tom Kristensen is in his third season this year in DTM.

Dang, exactly like that. It shows that even if the cars are so precise and fluent they are still susceptable to the forces of nature. Great pic :)
Thanks for the info about TK as well.

i also find cars look cool when they crash but I'm all for motorsport safety and i always pray that the driver involved is perfectly OK with no serious injuries

About the crash, that's pretty damn bad, I didn't really like seeing that one crash though, imagine the forces just smashing your body up....nasty one there.

Yes what the great Alex Zanardi said is true, but how ironic that the next day he was seriously injured in a crash, that is way too creepy for me.

Lol, very funny Robbie, I never knew Tom K raced DTM's. Anyway that is one nasty crash, there was one like this in the V8 Supercar development series in Australia, at Bathurst in fact, where a car made contact with a still car on the drivers side at 180kmh+ and very tragically killed the driver of the still car, very bad incident.

Oh blast that was nasty. Real nasty. If I were the darn guy during this incident I would have been really shocked and scared, even if I didn't have one scratch on my body. But the good thing is that no-one was hurt, good too see... I mean hear.

Sorry to revive an old thread... but I just read on the front page of a newspaper that he won't be ready for Le Mans because of this accident. Has anybody else heard about that? I can't find anything about it on the Internet.
And who's going to be his deputy. Audi only have like five drivers for three cars.

Wow that sucks, is it confirmed info?
But don't worry, Audi have plenty of $$$. They'll find someone.
Is Frank Biela still gonna be racing for them? Because he used to live in Monaco and I know his daughter quite well, but recently they have moved back to Tzchek Republic.

No, I haven't been able to find any sources that confirms it. It could be lie or wrong info, because on his official site they just say he won't be ready for the DTM race at Oschersleben, but nothing about Le Mans.
And Frank Biela will still be racng for Audi. He'll be in the #2 R10 together with Marco Werner and Emanuele Pirro.

He probably will be recovered before Le Mans. He's taking more DTM races off then necessay to make sure he can race at Le Mans
Tom Kristensen
May 17, 2007, 5:37 PM
Yeah, he'll probably recover soon. It isn't as bad as first feared. He underwent a scanning earlier today, and the results were that he needs more time to fully recover from the accident. This brings Le Mans in danger as there's less a month left now, but Audi give him all the time he needs to recover which means he won't be racing at Lausitzring this weekend.
