Everyone's been wanting to see a picture of the Monte Carlo. I don't have any new ones but I'll repost the ones I had on here...

They're both Super Gas cars which is a 9.90 second index. In Great Bend Kansas we run it at 10.20 which is altitude corrected for the atmosphere and is the same as running 9.90 at sea level.
The Vega will break 8.90's. The quickest I've gotten with the Monte off the throttle stops with no delay box is 8.4 with a 6.
sweet, you still bringing the monte over here to go drifting? lol :)
Hell yeah! lol

they use specially refined fuel i guess. Best bet, the fuel they use causes much more explosions inside the cylinders making it much more powerful.

^^ Ahh I see. Well I know what racing fuel is, i'm just wondering if it's another word for it...

That truck is sick... and the golf cart on the back isn't bad either. If you want I'll you can lave the truck on my front yard and I'll take it. I'll even be nice enough to take te Vega and Monte. That way you won't have to do all that stupid driving junk. lol

okay first i just want to say wow ur living one of my dreams. that is amazing i'm happy for you. and also the higher altitude the less amount of oxygen per square inch making the car having to let less gas in otherwise the car will run rich which means slower acceleration both ways. by the way i'm a scientist! :smt019

**** I didnt know the monte could run 8's.
Although I must admit I like that vega better, it looks really good with the fat rubber and the all white.

Very sporting of you to post your pics Monkey.
That is a fat little Vega. Reminds me of the old Bob Glidden/Grumpy Jenkins days.
See I told you he has a big truck that eats people.

I love the monte. it's looks are good, and subtle, maybe a little bland, but the areoynamic's of it look as if they'd be great, and function over form any day.
the truck is just badd ass, and thats a nifty parking spot for a golf cart. I wonder whats under it's hood, ;)

Fantastic cars....I really love both of them. It's a shame about the white one...it looked so sweet.
I know I probably ask you this everyime, but, what's the pin like. I imagine a car that fast is probably something you have to work your way up to, but when you finally do, how worth it is it?

^^Oh nice, I never knew that altitude would make such a difference. What is Super Gas cars? lol.Super Gas is a type of drag racing called Bracket Racing. It's run on a 9.90 second index. That means that the cars try to run as quick as possible without going quicker than 9.90 seconds. Basically, if both cars run the way they're supossed to then the winner will be the one with the quickest reaction time off the line. There's also Super Street which is a 10.90 second index and Super Comp which is an 8.90 second index.
That truck is sick... and the golf cart on the back isn't bad either. If you want I'll you can lave the truck on my front yard and I'll take it. I'll even be nice enough to take te Vega and Monte. That way you won't have to do all that stupid driving junk. lolYeah sure... no problem! lol
this whole time i thought it was an old school monteNope. It's modeled after a '99.
**** I didnt know the monte could run 8's.
Although I must admit I like that vega better, it looks really good with the fat rubber and the all white.lol... The Vega's got 20.5" slicks... the Monte's got 22.5" slicks. The Vega's shorter and lighter and doesn't need quite as much rubber. We run about 8 psi in the Vega. Any less and the rear end gets out of shape.
I love the golfcart
haha any pictures of that? The golf cart matches the Monte's paint scheme. lol...
sweet car monkey so what you planned next.I'm building (or destroying, however you look at it! lol) a 1987 Prelude into a slot car. lol
the truck is just badd ass, and thats a nifty parking spot for a golf cart. I wonder whats under it's hood, ;)327 small block with a Rock Crusher and a VERY narrowed Ford 9 inch. lol... Hell, I don't know how big the motor is but it's gas powered and will get up and go pretty good. In between rounds we all get our golf carts together at the end of the track (there's an old landing strip there) and have golf cart drags! lol
You SERIOUSLY need a sticker that says Monkeyfkker on it somewhere..I mean, it's a NECESSITYI've thought about it but there's too many kids around the track for it.
Fantastic cars....I really love both of them. It's a shame about the white one...it looked so sweet.
After the Vega ate the wall we had a new front end glassed for it and painted it sky blue. It's the 'smurfmobile' now... lol
I know I probably ask you this everyime, but, what's the pin like. I imagine a car that fast is probably something you have to work your way up to, but when you finally do, how worth it is it?How worth it is it? lol... It's worth every penny I've put into it. I've gone down the track in a pretty wide variety of vehicles but Super Gas is, in my opinion, the most technical and most difficult class. It's like Pro Stock... the winner is the best driver not the fastest car. Pro Stock doesn't have a break out time but the cars are so closely matched that the reaction times usually are the deciding factor... I got a chance to take a T/A Rail down the track recently and as much of a thrill as it was it still felt good to get back into my own car.

Great pictures Monkey, do you have any videos of the Monte Carlo? I'd love to see it in action. :)

I don't but there's a guy that videotapes the races at Great Bend. I'll see what he has...

There is no specific fuel that's required. There are guys running straight alcohol, some running 110, 112, 115 octane, and a few nuts running 118.

Oh okay I see. How can you tell when running if your heading towards the 9.90 mark though? I was recently at the strip the other day and I saw a rail-car there pulling around 11 seconds, so would that mean that it's classified into the Super Street? God I can't wait to drive, i'm hittin the strips!

Sep 13, 2007, 4:01 PM
Not if it was a rail. Super Street cars are full bodied production cars turned into bracket cars. Bracket classes like Super Gas and Super Street are defined classes that have tech requirements for the cars and safety equipment regulations. Like my car, it has a parachute but I don't use it (I have once but that was to keep from losing control and going into the wall). It's there because any car capable of running 9.99 seconds or quicker has to have one. I don't see too many rails that only run 11's so it was probably someone either breaking a new car in or a new driver learning the car.

Oh lovely pics. Great. The monte is great. No comments. And your partner's car is great. You have done great jobs in your cars guys. Keep it like that.
Your truck is great. Impressive.
Nice pics monkey.
Ah, also the parachute is helpful to stop in lower times. But why are you losing the control of your car?

I blew a tire so I let off the throttle, hit the chute release lever, and held on to the wheel. It was interesting.

I plan on chasing the Super Gas points after I retire. I might, MIGHT, move the car up into Super Comp but I'm not sure yet. I like the competition Super Gas...

Monkey, you said your car can run higher than the 8.9 index didn't you ? So, say you were going to move into the super comp index from super gas, would you have to change your car from the way it looks now, to the one in skylines post ? and if yes, why ?
Sorry if this sounds really amateur, but drag isn't big in the U.K. Specially not the bigger stuff.
monkeyfkker
Sep 14, 2007, 6:38 PM
Doesn't sound amateur at all. No, Full bodied cars are eligible but the majority of the Super Comp cars are rails (like above) and roadsters.

Sep 14, 2007, 7:05 PM
Does the term rail just mean that shape car ?

A dragster is a rail. Yeah, that shape...

I'm taking the Monte and my bike out this weekend. My partner's running the Vega and wants to run the two cars wide open together. lol... I'm trying to get some money on the line but I don't think he's that dumb. lol... Hell, he built both cars so he knows which one will win but it's still fun.
