That just shows how safe those cars are at well over 300 mph. Thankfully he's alright and will fully recover. From the rumors going around the NHRA circles he has no plans whatsover to retire or quit racing. This is what can happen and every drag racer knows it...

Elvis is still alive.
John Force will always be the face of NHRA & the fact that he'll keep racing is testament to that fact.
Some people think that a Funny Car will just disintegrate upon impact but they're built in such a way that the cockpit is kinda 'protected' from the rest of the car. When he crashed I knew that he'd survive due to NHRA safety standards.
But hey , you just never know.
Wishes go out to John Force & the entire Force family.

I heard about this yesterday on globecast radio (sky channel 0157 or www.0157.org) during a fetatyre called "ear on the oval" which reviews american racing.
I hope he makes a safe recovery.

At first they thought the debris from Kenny's car blew the tire then got caught up in the blower belt and the torque from the thing locking up snapped the frame but after reviewing the computer readouts they found that he wasn't on the throttle at all. Apparantly the frame just broke. They don't know why yet...

You gotta love Kenny B. After all these years , he's still at it.
Thank Master Chief (cause god isn't real) that this wasn't an Eric Medlen (R.I.P) moment. That would've been absolutely devastating. Eric , you're still in the driver's seat mate.
And , whilst on the subject of the Force's...
ASHLEY FORCE IS A HOTTIE.
Come to think of it...every female in motorsport is usually hot.
Here's a thought. Chuck Norris style...
John Force doesn't drive a Funny Car. He scares it into driving itself.

Mr Force is probably the only pro NHRA guy, that I really would love to "hang" with..
He just seems like such a funny funny man...He's like the Gary Busey of the racing world, I would also like to note that I'd put it down on his daughters.
You see, the Forerunners were created by God, Humans are children of Forerunners, and Master Cheif is a god among men...making Master Chief Jesus

He just seems like such a funny funny man...Whenever I go to sanctioned events at Topeka he's always the one running around the crowd. He's an absolutely amazing guy.

Damn, that would have been scary. Something similar to this happened to another guy, and it scared him so much that his brain erased the memory of the crash entirely. Now, for that to happen, you've gotta be doing something really crazy!

Wes, your statement that female racers are usually hot is completely untrue. In fact most most female racers are not that good looking. Top three best lookers for me: (in any order really)
1. Danica Patrick
2. Ashley Force
3. Angelle Sampey
As for the subject at hand, I think John got very lucky, and being the guy that he is, he was more concerned about how Kenny was. The safety of the cage had little to do with his survival, because it actually broke, leaving his lower extremities open to any type of damage. Luckily for him, he shall continue his ways.
The only question that remains is if the famed dirty suit will be worn again, or if it was cut apart to get to his injuries.

That's what it's designed to do.

The cage is desined to protect the driver. It is NOT supposed to break like that. Everything else on the car is designed to break away in order to dissippate the crash energy. The cage however, failed to do its job for John's lower body, and he got very lucky.

Oh wait, the cage, not the body work. My bad.
