http://www.wrc.com/News.aspx?PO_ID=4758&flash=True&lang=en_ GB Again the FIA is trying to dramatically change it into something its not most of the teams have to create a whole new engine now that they dont even have a design for like Subaru. I HATE THE FIA    !!!!!

If that goes through, the WRC is going to get crap. And I am sure allot of current WRC drive's will protest such a move.

if they continue like that the most of the cars will be faster than WRC cars...

Well at least these rules will make the WRC cars more like their homologated production cars. And it would allow other companies to join the fun, because of the lowered costs.
I dunno I like things the way there are. No need to slow things down.

firstly I would like to tell you of my new hotmail e-mail i_hate_the_FIA@hotmail.com (although this is not linked to MSN... yet :P) maybe I need another one now... i_hate_Max_Mosley@hotmail

but the FIA will one day realise once people no longer watch rallying when they find it boring and when all the teams leave because it sucks, that they killed the worlds most popular motorsport (because of regional rallies as well)

FU(K the FIA and Max Mosley, they suck, no wonder more and more people are making rallies that are not FIA approved, because the FIA SUCKS!!

now i will calm down and become civilised again :)

I do they show they no nothing about rallying and they are always taken rules from one of their other racing series to screw it up and even though it is letting new manufactors get in it's making old ones who are very loyal change every thing about their cars which IMO is unfair so i agree w/ SK37 the FIA and Max Mosley MUST GO!!!!

calm down guys. Think of this as a good thing.

"the use of exotic materials, such as titanium, ceramics, magnesium and composites would be banned unless they are already used on the original homologated production car."

To me, this spells R-E-A-L-L-Y C-O-O-L H-O-M-O-L-I-G-A-T-I-O-N C-A-R-S. We all know how sneaky some of these manufacturers can be. Pretty soon ford is going to have the "titanium and super amazing composite WRC edidition" focus. I also like the Naturally aspirated engine idea. I was watching a race yesterday, i wasn't really paying attention to who was driving, but someones turbo broke/seized in the middle of the stage. Since the engines are so highly tuned with the turbo, without it he got much less horsepower than the god damn road car it was based off of. Thats just plain silly. He couldn't get out of first gear!! Ridiculous. You wouldn't have that such problem with N/A engines.

well Mopar, I see your point, but I think you are missing what top class rallying is about, its about having an amazing machine that can do amazing things, thats why Grp B existed, then it was declared too dangerous, especially since Audi had a 1000bhp rallycar ready to hit the stages the same time as Grp B was cancelled, so then attention turned to Grp A, and then that took off. and lets be honest, take peugeot, they are already so close to breaking 3 major rules i can think of off the top of my head, they will just make a hardtop 307CC with an EVO type engine and hardcore racing car for road use, then it will cost them more to make 4000 of them than say 14 of them for rallying per year...

The thing is what do ppl want to see a car go really slow ( like a road car) or a car flying through the stages my choice would be a road car and plus Subaru has to make a engine that is not in any of their road cars and the boxer engine has to go which is just plain awful

i think you guys are making this too much of a big deal. This is just going to display driver talent by not using fancy gear boxes. It returns rallying back to it's roots. I like it.

I now see it as a good thing, Carlos Sainz my favourite WRC driver will start to win 1st on even more stages instead of his usual 4th (funny that) because he used to drive in the old rallies before they all had sequential gear-boxes. New drives like Loeb will suffer, and if Colin returns to the WRC in 2005 it will be dominated my Santiz and McRae.
