Holden Racing Team’s Todd Kelly realises a lifelong dream to become a Chevrolet driver for the next V8 round at Bahrain, as his familiar red #22 Commodore turns into a black and gold Chevrolet Lumina to celebrate Holden’s 10th year of booming export sales into the Middle East. For Kelly, it’s a dream come true.
“As a kid in Mildura, I always loved 1950s Chevys for all the flair and detail that was designed into those cars, ” he said.
“I used to collect Chevy belt buckles and I’ve still got a drawer full at home – plus I’ve got ten V8 Chevy engines in the workshop for cars, boats and hotrods.
“Chevrolet in the U. S.A. always meant success in motorsport and I had the fingers crossed that Holden Motorsport would nominate me for this Bahrain exercise, ” said Kelly. “This is something that you look back on in future years and remember as being something very special. ”
Holden Motorsport Manager Simon McNamara said Kelly was the natural selection to wear the Chevrolet bowtie in Bahrain.
“It was a clear cut decision to choose Todd because he’s always been a Chevrolet fanatic of the highest order, ” said McNamara.
With over 200,000 Holden sourced short and long wheel based vehicles sold into the region since 1998, the Middle East has been Holden’s biggest and most enduring volume export market. “Locals love the high performance rear wheel drive configuration of Chevrolet Lumina and Caprice, similar to Australian buyers with Commodore, Statesman and Caprice, ” said GM Holden Manager Export, Kristian Aquilina.
“Being involved in the Bahrain V8 Supercar race is a great way to promote the Chevrolet nameplate and help forge a motorsport heritage for GM in the region. ”

No clue what the mistake is, but the car is absolutely incredible. Has a really mean presence to it. I'd love to see it with the same stance, without the decals.

i don't know a whole lot about the specifics of these but, is it the "C-SV" decals all over it? i'm guessing that stands for commodore and that's something it's not supposed to be in this particular guise....right?

perhaps i've lost tho lol

all i know is HSV is Holden's performance arm, i don't know what CSV is for.

that first picture seems to be a very different car in terms of decals, parts, etc. even the bar in the grille with the bowtie is different. is that a computer rendering of what the concept was or something?

Looks stunning. Hopefully it can do well in the hands of Kelly.

Do Dodo have much of a market in the mid east? Or HSV for that matter?

Great color combo for the car. Its making me sad that I have missed most the season.

1st pic, look above the Mobil sticker. The first 2 pics are renderings.
CSV stands for Chevrolet Specialised Vehivles. Possibly the laziest rebadge I've ever seen.
America doesn't to my knowledge make the Lumina, they're all Aussie.

and Lambo, channel 7 decided it would change the broadcast times, from 11pm to god-knows-when, and didn't tell anybody. So, when I rewound the tape, all I got was a big load of crapola!

^^^Cross your fingers and hope Vauxhall decide to enter the VXR8 in the WTCC. BTW, what is the WTCC? It can't be World Touring car champoinship, can it? It doesn't race in Aus...

I'm watching the Desert 400 at Bahrain right now, and i've noticed the new livery on the HRT cars. I think it looks great, it gives a mean look to the car with it's black and gold paint scheme, love it.

Yup. I wish we got it here though. I wish we got everything :D.

Took me forever and a day to realise what layout they were using over there.

Yeah its the World Touring Car Championship and Chevrolet compete with the Lacetti WTCC like this one:

Which to be honest I like it but yeah definently the Commodore looks well better.

On Vauxhall entering the WTCC no way GM already have Chevrolet in there and Vauxhall currently race in the BTCC besides GM would use Opel as it is a more widely known name throughout the world but yeah it will never happen so there is no point in dreaming lol.

Is that still FWD?!?
It looks like a ricebucket!

silly GM, they should enter races with a cool car, it'd be better for promoting the brand, not some low-volume Korean car.
