I don't know if any of you have heard of NEDRA, so I will tell you about this motorsport. NEDRA is the National Electric Drag Racing Association, which means it is the sanctioning body for electric drag racing. These electric dragsters aren't your typically golf cart at ALL!! They are using 336 volt, 2000 AMP Zilla controllers and Lithium ION battery technology from either Alair Nano or A123 systems.

Here are some nice videos of a few electric dragsters:

While they were pretty quick they sounded absolutely horrible, I dont know about the rest of you guys but I have always found some enjoyment listening to the deafening roar of a conventional dragster...

It's pretty cool, and it is racing, so I'm happy in that respect. But it's just so anti-climactic. As you see the lights go down, you sort of anticipate a thunderous roar from the depths of hell, but especially in the Eliminator V, you get a much more subtle, more mechanical-esque sound.

The sound doesn't sit easy with me, but the racing is still great.
