ML Motorsports officials have confirmed that Jason Jarrett, driver of the No. 67 ML Motorsports Chevrolet since 2001, has been released as the team’s driver.

“Jason is an outstanding young man with a great deal of potential,” said Ed Mullen, of ML Motorsports. “We wish him all the best as he pursues other opportunities.”

In four full seasons on the ARCA RE/MAX Series tour driving for MLM, Jarrett posted 32 top-5 finishes and 57 top-10s in 92 career starts, including two victories at Kansas Speedway in his inaugural 2001 season and at Salem Speedway in 2004. In addition, Jarrett earned RE/MAX Rookie of the Year honors and finished second in points behind Frank Kimmel in 2001. Jarrett also finished third in points in 2002, second again in 2003, and fifth in 2004. Overall, the third-generation Hickory, North Carolina driver led a total of 440 laps in 25 races. Jarrett also scored 11 runner-up finishes at a variety of venues including Toledo, Salem, Pocono, Nashville and Chicagoland.

“I signed a contract extension with MLM last year and I was ready to fulfill my obligations with the team and the sponsors through 2006,” said Jarrett. “I was informed Wednesday that I was being released by the team owners. I would like to return to the ARCA RE/MAX Series or to a competitive team in any major racing series. I can do a good job under the right circumstances, just like any other competitive driver out there.”

No driver has yet been named as a replacement.

Prior to Jarrett’s tenure with the team, Brian Ross drove for MLM in 1999 and 2000. Ross, in 24 career RE/MAX Series starts, earned 10 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes with career-best finishes of second at Winchester and Flat Rock. In addition, Ross led 408 laps in seven races. Andy Hillenburg made three starts in the MLM car in early 1999 with a best finish of eighth at Salem. Jimmy Kitchens also drove for MLM in ’99 making eight starts posting a best finish of sixth at Pocono.

In six full seasons on tour, beginning with Ross’s fourth place points finish in 2000, ML Motorsports has never finished out of the top-5 in championship points.
