Well, I guess another thread to generalise another motorsport. Just waiting for the F3, Formula Renault and GP2 threads to pop up.
Ah well, I guess its a good idea. I know very little about the series but with some research it looks quite interesting.

We get no footage either (although it is sometimes aired on channel 5 at about 4am) - this was last year.
The first round (Suzuka) has been and gone, the GT-R's sweeping a 1-2 finish, good news for the team in some respects but in others could prove costly. There is speculation that they will try to hinder the performance of the new Nissan to let the others keep up.
Round 2 is this weekend, Okayama. There are few news reports available and I'll know little about it until the event has run its course. This is down to the lack of publicity it gets worldwide, despite having become a 'worldwide' series.
Of course the official site (supergt.net) is bloody useless. Look at the media updates. It's updated infrequently to put it lightly....
Here's some pics to liven up this thread a bit:

I like the Super GT (although it's never on here in the US...)
LOL, so much for the "diversity on the grid"....
two thirds of the cars are GT-Rs or NSXs....
Do I spy a couple of Takata NSX racers???

It's because those are the top class cars, which are dominated by those. The lower class cars are where it gets interesting...

Diversity? It's more diverse than most motorsports!
Top runners are always going to be the latest cars - they have been tested most recently and thouroughly.
There's a gridfull of Toyota (Lexus) SC430's (dominated last year), Nissan GT-R's (new this year) and NSX's (well refined now, reliable choice). I believe there is one team still using a Supra and a couple of 350Z's, but I think both were missing from round 1.
In the GT300 class things get more diverse than the culture in London, we have Porsche's, Lambourghini's, Ferrari's, MR-S's (MR2's) and the infamous Wedsports Celica and Amemiya RX-7 amoung many others. I think it's a great series, and wish it got more press coverage.

Can one of the mods change the thread title?
I feel silly coming into something that's like
SUPER GT THREAD!!! RAAWWH OF DOOM LOOK EXCLAMATION!!!!
anywho
Winningest manufacturer in Super GT is toyota, with a combined 30 titles since 1993
Second winningest, is Nissan with a combined 29
Third is Honda with a combined 25
Interesting note...
There are 5 Honda cars
9 Nissans
and 10 Toyota's on the field...
toyota's been winning only in the past few years, nissan wins a bunch pretty much RIGHT when the new gen skylines come out..Lol..
(it's actually in perfect cadence to the new skylines too)
and Honda avg'ed 3 wins per year since the C32 NSX came to the surface

Nice contribution Driftster, where is it?
If you look at the Official Website then the SUPER GT is actually in capitals (or upper case), so the thread title is accurate. Also, he hasn't put the word 'Thread' in upper case suggesting that he has a basic grasp of English Literature, as all words in a 'Title' should have a capital letter at the front unless they are joining words like 'and', 'of', 'or' & 'with'. Also, observe 50% of the threads in this section have an exclaimation mark.
If you look on Youtube for 'SUPER GT' there are numerous 10minute+ videos of coverage for round one. Check out why the Nissans didn't come 1-2-3, the Calsonic GT-R on the first corner...:-k

I love the the designed the Super GT come up with. It's kind of in the same line as DTM, but because the base cars were sports cars to begin with, they look better.
Yeah, I get excited about wide body aero bodywork modifications, sculpted rear wings, front deflectors, large air vents behind the front tyres...
There's a few non-Japanese guys running in the series, such as Lyon, who's been there for yonks. I've always wondered how non-Japanese guys faired in a Japanese-orientated race series.
