That's bad news. I saw the WRC this year over here, and it was great. We were all waiting for the 307s and the Xara's over any other car...
Wouldn't it be grat for Audi, Lancia and Renault to come up with a new WRC car?
I'm a great fan of the old B Group.
By the way... anyone knows where I can find pics of Historic Rally?

Tharos, Renault has the S1600 and GrpN categories covered, with the possibility of a full WRC attack in about 2007/08 (assuming the FIA hasnt destroyed rallying by then :( )

Audi are already in the WRC, they run the Skoda Fabia WRC car, so its Audi in disguise  :p

I honestly cannot see Lancia ever returning to rallying, they still hold the title of the most successful Manufacturer ever in the WRC, with ford in 2nd, but a fair way behind! They have nothing to rally, and why attempt to possibly ruin what is a world record for them, realistically they could not keep pace with the modern team because they dont have the funding required.

And for Group B, if you want to see the original cars rallying, come to Europe sometime, they have been allowed to rally again over here! they are amazing, i love them soo much!

and finally, pictures of historic rallying, i have loads, and if there any on the internet i dont yet have (which i dont think is many) then i want them also!! I dont know the websites, but i have several hundred megabytes saved on my hardrive of pics, so maybe i can send you a few of your favourites ;)

hope the info was useful :)

No, honda definetly could. We all know the Civic type R would kill.

I don't think Honda will be having any involvement with rally races. It's just not their style.

The Civic Type R already rallies....
It has been at WRC events I have been at also, but only a Grp N contender, the car is not capable of a full WRC attack, and Honda are in motorbike and touring car racing big time, its only privateers that enter the Type-R in rallies! also, they have no AWD powertrain to homologate to, and it's probably too expenisive to develop one for it, unlike most rallycars are designed with a rally heritage in the future and are made accordingly and I don't think they have a turbo car for them to use.....?

but here it is in the Czech Republic as a 1600N car:

Interesting, dont worry tho. We still have Subaru, Ford and Mitsubishi in 2006.

Thats no where near enough competitors. The sport will suffer. >

dont forget Skoda, like I said in another post, I'm backing them (next to subaru obviously :p ) for next year... :D

and VectraGTS, if we take that attitude, then the FIA will win, its our duty to fight the FIA and keep rallying alive and healthy, the best way to do this is make the FIA suffer in other types of motorsport.... or you could make threats to them...

On Friday I read a story in the newspaper saying that An AWD turbo Mazda 3 was in the pipeline.
What do you think about mazda possibly using them in WRC?

Mopar68
Nov 29, 2004, 2:04 PM
Definetly a possibility. Although i think it would be a big mistake to throw a little fish into a big lake. The Mazda 3 is a new car, and mazda hasn't been in WRC in a while (if they ever were in the WRC). But i think it'd be a contender after a couple of years.

Is possible....There would bew nothing wrong with mazda jumping on the bandwagon, more companys supplying the cars and the more fun it will be to watch..more competators...more people willing to risk it all.

I can only see it for national rallies, Ford already considered pulling Team RS out, why would they enter another team into the WRC

Why would ford pull the RS team? Are they not performing like ford would like them too?

Ford have not pulled Team RS, and renewed contract for 4 years I think, but because of money problems they were thinking of stopping, like they did in F1

Actually, Ford re-evaluated all of it motorsport series including WRC in efforts to save costs.

I like the word 're-evaluated', they seemed to make a big thing out of it, despite 'saving money', they are sticking with WRC (YAY!! :D) and the BRL Mondeos (yay :)) and starting WTCC... well I'm not complaining, the more the better :)

For me the best thing is that they're staying in WRC.

That would probably be true because if you think about it 206 (which was very sucessful) is just like the type R
