Let's!
Go!
Racing!
The Formula 1 is back on! A fortnight ago in Turkey, Felipe Massa won his third successive Turkish GP and his second of the 2008 season. This time out in the twisty streets and chicanes of Monaco, it promises to be a totally different story.
The McLaren car is much, much faster here in Monaco than it is in Turkey, and an excellent finishing position is exactly what Britain's Lewis Hamilton needs after a drought of four races without a win.
The Ferraris have been dominating the season so far apart from the first round in Australia, but now this is Hamilton and team-mate Kovalainen's chance to claw back some points on the leading Ferrari, in the title race, of Kimi Raikkonen.
Last year Fernando Alonso won this race in a McLaren with Lewis Hamilton finishing second. The car that would eventually go on to win the title was a mammoth 53 seconds behind the race winner, and the man in the car was Felipe Massa.
So, hopefully this time around Hamilton can get a deserved victory - at 75% of Hamilton's visits to the Principality, he has won.
I'm really excited about this race weekend. It's the best of the year in terms of the glam, the cars, the race spectacle.
It's going to be brilliant - and breakFan's got a front row seat! ;)

Practice times up soon people. Get posting! :)

Why again does he deserve a victory???
You might want to say "I hope he wins" because the other way you sound to much like a fanboy, and that is just pathetic.

I think he deserves a win, he's had a difficult start to the season with HUGE pressure from the team and the sponsors. It would be good if he could shut them up this weekend.
And I take back what I've been saying... it's not rally manic here at all. Maybe we're still a bit too early, I hope so, because there aren't that many people by the track, nor in the restaurants and bars.
Everywhere was empty last night. Strange.

I'm sorry to say this but sometimes you are so full of crap it's unbelievable.
Read what I just wrote.
I said, ''I hope he gets a deserved victory'', meaning that if he gets a victory around the tight and twisty track of the Principality, it will be deserved.
I did not say that he deserved a victory at all.
And besides, just take it all on the chin. This ''wonder-bread'' b*llocks has got to stop. I'm sorry but you are nothing but haters and if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all. I don't know if it's because he's black, I don't know if it's because you all expected him to fail miserably and he didn't, he nearly won the title, and I don't know if it's because he gave the fight to Alonso in his first season, which was the right thing to do. I honestly don't know, but this is what I do know:
STOP IT.
Both of you. Seriously, change the record. Whenever Lewis makes the smallest of mistakes, it's like, "OMG he's crap, too much pressure this, blah blah blah hating hating hating."
I'm sorry but I DO NOT see anybody else absolutely jump on Kimi's back whenever he makes a mistake. Middle of last season, it's fair to say Kimi WAS NOT on form and you two found quite a few excuses to get the blame off Kimi's shoulders.
Now let me ask you, where the hell is the equality in that? I know we have freedom of speech but it's ridiculous. It's called being a hater and a close minded, ignorant fanboy and it's got to stop, because it's doing NOBODY a favour, not least yourselves.
EDIT: I may have been a little harsh in that post...but you are mature enough to get my point, I assume.

You weren't to harsh, you were spot on. For starters, being a fanboy isn't pathetic. Supporting your favourite driver is not pathetic. If, for example, being a fanboy is pathetic, then everyone who enjoys F1 is pathetic, because everyone has a favourite driver.
Me and Beaver, we have Hammy. Nemphis and Ferrari 304(?) have Raikkonen. Cheeky has Alonso. We are all fans of our drivers, and we will support them for the win. It's the way it works. I hate this whole concept some people have that we must look at a race completely subjectively. I want Hamilton to win, simple as, therefore I will say he is going to win.
But, it seems the Mclaren has the edge. As a rule of thumb, it would seem the Mclaren's are quicker whereas the Ferrari's are faster. In other words, Mclaren's prefer twisties, whereas the Ferrari's prefer going flat out. The ferrari's may not have dazzling pace in practice, but I dare say they'll show up on the front row for practice. My front row is Hamilton and Massa. Raikkonen for me, even though a phenomonal driver, hasn't show the sort of passion you would expect from someone who wants to win yet. Again though, he didn't show that till the second half of the season last year and he won. So, we have yet to see what will happen.
But I do love Monaco. There's something about it, it seem's less corporate, and more racing. People in their yachts don't pull up with their names on their boats, they pull up to watch the cars fly by. People don't buy rooms to show off sponsorship, they want to see a race. Monaco is pretty much the heart and soul of F1, regardless of whether it wants to be or not, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Say what you will about Hamilton and his so called "lackluster" season
so far. I've been a fan of his ever since his first race from last year.
Hamilton made the season alot more exciting to watch than the year,
before. He would have been World Champion, had he not gone off,
as he was coming into pit at Shanghai! Not since J. Villenueve in '97
has a rookie been so impressive! I admit I'm a diehard Ferrari Fan, but
you got to give credit where credit is due, and Hamilton is going to be
the one to watch again this year as well. Ferrari has already said that
McLaren will have the "upper hand" at Monaco. So bring it on!!

You know what I actually believe Ferrari are generally fooling the public into thinking McLaren are gonna rule this weekend  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It all makes sense they have 'admitted' McLaren are better here and it seems to be tyre 'problems' that are holding them back but hang on which team has struggled with tyres more this season ?????
Yes, McLaren :).
It smells fishy too me ............
I generally believe they are fooling the public :).
So after my great theory I will say:
Kimi
Massa
Kubica
on the podium at the end of the race :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not that being a fanboy is bad, it's just that putting other drivers down because you like some other driver is just absolutely pathetic. It's when jealousy gets involved when other drivers are better than the driver you cheer for.
Hating other drivers because you like a particular driver is just wrong. Supporting your driver while carrying a neutral perspective of other drivers who are competing against the driver you like, then I'm fine with that.

It's been raining again, and I'm pretty sure there's been a serious crash in the Formula Renaults. From the boat I saw loads of marshalls all gathered around the "Portier" corner, and then a helicopter flew in to rescue the driver, I suppose. I'm trying to find out what happened, but it looked pretty serious.
It's 11 o'clock, the Formula Ones have just gone out for their last practice. No rain, but a wet track.

Massa first in every single session. I actually had an outburst the second he crossed the line. Absoulty awesome.
But Lewis in 3rd. Interesting, are the heavy fulled, was lewis just cocky, we'll see tommorrow.
Still Rosberg. Brilliant around Monaco. I suspect they have a bit more fuel, going by what happened last year.
Also, what happened heidfeld. Thats really disapointing. I really thought he'd be faster then 13th.

Big surprises.
Rosberg was really fast. I didn't know that he was living there.
Massa and Kimi did the 1-2 and now they have advantage. Ferraris this year are bloody fast. I also observed the new front wing.
Kubica did a nice race. BMWs can't keep up with the big names. Also they kept Heidfeld inside the pits and he didn't take a good place. What a pity.
Red Bull team did a nice race too.
Tomorrow the weather may be rainy.

I remember last race, Mark Blundell was saying how Monaco would be a good weekend for "us", meaning Hamilton and McLaren. I'm glad Ferrari were able prove him wrong in qualy.

I've had a pretty good day. Quite a lot of work this morning bringing guests to the boat, but once everyone is safely aboard, there's nothing much to do until racing is finished. So I went with a friend to eat in Stars n' Bars (famous American restaurant right by the paddock) and we took his Wally Tender out to the middle of the port to watch the qualifying on the big screen. Was pretty cool, just sat on this wicked boat for an hour, watched all the qualifying and had the REAL life sound.
He gave me a special pass to, so I got to see all the drivers! They were on the other side of the fence, but still, right there! Anyways, I saw Kovalainen, Hamilton, Massa, Raikonen, Kubica, Rosberg, Nakajima, Hamilton's dad, Mika Hakinen and even the old Bernie Ecclestone was a few steps away from me!
Here's a few pictures (it was impossible to get a clear shot of most of them, so there's just these...):

Every year I go, but every year it blows me away. It is an INCREDIBLE experience, make it one of your things to do before you die, trust me, you'll never regret it. The people I was working for are event organizers and that's definitely the way to do the whole thing ;): yacht right by the chicane, buffet & drinks, accommodation, flights from the UK, parties every night... I can get you tickets for next year ;).
And yes, I did see DC's crash (only on the screen though) and WOW, luckily he didn't hit the wall separating the two walls.

@breakfan, yeah, ouch. Hitting where the walls split. That really would've hurt. Lucky for him but he still got through, and has a choice of fuel stratgies anyway, so that should put him in a good posistion.
But I'm still smiling from Felipes pole. That was simply supreme. If he wins tommorrow they might as well give him the world championship.
Though I hope Lewis has a good race. In other words, he gives Kimi a hard time. That way, Massa is free to get away, and hopefully, if and when he gets past, that means Massa will be 3 points away from leading the championship. Woot
Anyways, my prediction/hopes for tommorrow.
1. Massa
2. Hamiliton
3. Kovalinen
4. Raikkonen
5. Kubica
6. Rosberg
7. Truili
8. Heidfeld

Although Hammy is 2 places lower than i wanted him to be, great qualifying!! It was great watching Massa's reaction in the press conference after! He was more shocked than i was!
Rosberg impressed me more, brilliant effort from him.
A Ferrari 1-2 is the last thing i expected, especially with Massa heading the field. But a great result for them as pole pretty much guarantees the win round here, and with Kimi in behind i cant really see any other result than a Ferrari 1-2 finish.
Hopefully Hammy can stay 3rd for the podium but considering Kovy looks pretty nippy this weekend and Kubica always a threat i predict they will all be running very close together tomorrow.
My prediction is whatever position everyones in after the first 2 corners, thats where they will finish!
Or
1. Massa
2. Kimi
3. Hammy
4. Kubica
5. Kovy
6. Rosberg
7. Alonso
8. Webber

Such as shame for RBR and David. I thought it was very funny that the wheel kept going down the track, but I also find it apalling the tethers didn't hold it in place, we could have had more injuries if that thing got airborne and into the spectators.
As for qualifying, I find it surprising Ferrari got to where they did, after last year's dissappointment it is refreshing to know they are back at it again. I am surprised by how badly qualifying ended up for Fisi as well as Mr. Heidfeld.
As for the race, I look to Kubica getting a podium and Ferrari dominating everyone.

Such a shame about Sutil, but at least Kimi tried to control it. Hammy was quite lucky with the timing of his puncture! Alonso was so unlucky with it all, maybe that move on Heidfeld was a little optimistic, but at the end of the day you've gotta go for it. Yeah consistently strong performances from Webber, and I believe Nakajima did pretty well too.

May 25, 2008, 12:13 PM
First things first. Kimi needs a slap. A big one by that. Sutil looked just so dispointed afterwards, was literally crushed. I mean, to get fastest lap, and move all the way to fifth, completly and utterly mistake free, and then to be hit by, off all people, the world champion. I hope Kimi gets a grid penalty, but I doubt theres a case for it.
Also, Kubica should of won this race. In my opinion Lewis was mucho lucky. He made a mistake and was lucky his wheel didn't come off, and then after that, the safety car was straight out, meaning he didn't have to even make up the gap. It was like not even having to stop. He raced brilliantly, no doubt there, but Kubica raced much better.
As for Ferrari. Massa had a dominant start, but then the safety car ruined that great gap he had going, and then he lost 7 seconds with the mistake, and Kubica took the lead.
But unlucky again. He lost his radio. Of all races to lose your radio, wet monaco has to be the worst.
Ferrari really got their strategy wrong. If it had rained again, no doubt Massa was there for the win, but it didn't, and Ferrari lost out.
Vettel had a fantastic race, and there wasn't a single shot of him. Same for Webber.
Rofl. Vettel was behind Webber at the end. I'm sure Webber floored it after that ;p
Rosberg had a strange run, and so did Alonso. Both are drivers you expect to do brilliantly, both being wet experts. But things like Alonso running into Heidfeld. Same for Button.
But Kudos to Nakajima. The same Nakajima who ran into the back of someone on straight, and the same driver that ran over his pit crew, manged to keep his nose clean (literally). Again, same for Barichello. Both of them proved its better safe than sorry at Monaco.
I also enjoyed both Coulthard and Bourdias crashes, both stopping in the taxi area. lol
But Kovy. You don't get more unlucky than Kovalinen. Thats 3 races hes lost out, when its not his fault. He deserves to win at Montreal, and I will be supporting him all the way. Nice guys shouldn't finish last.

The only reason Hamilton is shown alot on ITV is a) hes one of the best British drivers ever and b) he is always near the front of the grid.

How is that true? When the safety car came out after the Williams crash, Kubica caught right up again. If Kubica was racing so much better, he'dve taken Hamilton.

Seriously can you understand why I call him 'wonder kid' now ???? Any other driver would have been f***ed after that but noooo not 'wonder kid'.
So does anyone know how 'wonder kid' gets his luck ????
I really would like to know because I could do with some 'luck' right now in my life :o !!!!
On the whole Kimi - Sutil saga, Kimi didn't do it on purpose he obviously hit a damp part of the track after all if you watch the replay you will see he all of sudden lost control so please don't say it was all Kimi's fault :(.
Yes I do feel sorry for Sutil & Force India that would have been like winning both chanpionships to them if they would have got the 5th place today.
I still can't believe 'wonder kid' though :(:mad::(:mad: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right onwards and upwards, that was a mere lack of concentration on Ferrari's side now lets get to good old Canada and get back to form shall we Kimi ????????

^But there was no doubt what so ever that is was Hamilton's fault when he touched the rear end of Alonso a few races back?
It seems like when ever Kimi makes a mistake (like hitting a wet patch) its all fine. But if it were Lewis there would be a whole load of comments about amature mistakes and not being able to handle the pressure.

Ahhh, that was different, in the UK they immediately blamed Alonso and claimed that he was doing a brake-test!
This was incident that everyone could see...he tried to fight it, but he lost out. Therefore both accidents are totally different.

I'm talking about Nemphis and a few others who will blow any mistake Hamilton makes way out of proportion but when ever Kimi makes a similar mistake (hitting a wet patch versus getting caught in a slip stream/losing aero resistance suddenly) its like there was no possible way to avoid it.
Personly I would say both were racing incidents, those type of things happen, I was just trying to make a point.

I agree that this thing is one sided. Give Hamilton a break, he is a skilled driver people - give credit where credit is due. The difference with Kimi is how hard the Force India team were working only to lose out and have to retire. That could've seen some major changes at the bottom of the grid.

^ You were the one who implied Kimi's accident was his fault, when slipping on a wet track under braking is much less of a driver error, than driving your car into the back of someone you hate, on a straight in the dry.

Well in my opinion, Kimi drove poorly for most of the day. Slow of of the start, couldn't keep the pace of the others, and then piled into Sutil. True it wasn't his fault, but Vettel piling into Webber you could say was a similar situation, and there was a penalty there.
While today Lewis did drive well, but I've seen the highlights, and just after he crashed and then left the pits, there was a safety car. So you do the math really. What should've of put him down, in fact, was almost like a free pit stop.
So a pit stop in Monaco is about 29 seconds, and he probaly gained about 18 seconds from that safety car. So if it wasn't for that safety car, Kubica would of won. But there's been so many what if's in F1, theres no point in complaining at the end of the day. Lewis won, and thats that.

What a great race, rain just at the time I'd hoped for. I think seeing these F1 cars going through the streets in the rain, letting out all that spray behind them has to be one the most beautiful things I've ever seen...
Here's a video of the first round from where I was:
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/breakfan1/th_S73F0873.jpg (http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/breakfan1/?action=view¤t=S73F0873.flv)
Here's the only good-ish picture I took of the race:
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/breakfan1/S73F0878.jpg
I spent most of the day out at sea though... and it got pretty rough out there. Pretty funny taking out some of these people that have never been on a boat... they think we're gonna sink lol
This was the what it looked like in the morning, nice and calm:
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/breakfan1/S73F0868.jpg
And then in the afternoon, we had it in for ourselves!
Being rocked about:
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/breakfan1/S73F0893.jpg
And on another boat, my dad & uncle taking in the sea water lol, t'was fun seeing them get soaked and me sitting nicely inside. We took the driving in turns though, otherwise wouldn't be so fair. I got to watch the Grand Prix completely WET....
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/breakfan1/S73F0885.jpg
It was clear to me that thought that Bernie clearly put a word in to calm them all down. They were really not running 100% (I could even hear that the engines were not as loud as usual), because that would have been carnage. Just look at the lap times...

Every motor-sport event in Monaco is commented by him. So during the race, he gives full audio commentary (there's giant screens all over the place too) for the people around the track. They take turns, so you get French, English, German & Italian.
It's quite useful although you can hear zilt over the F1 cars. It's okay though, on board though we had those little F1 TV thingys... Great gadget (thanks Bernie), you can follow ANYTHING you want happening in the race. For example, select the driver you want, and hop on board with him. So you just carry it in your hand, keep up wuth what's happening around the track and watch the cars live in front of you at the same time. Very clever clever stuff ;).
lol, and here's a pic of me getting soaked on the way to race... We had to go on the smallest boat because that's the only one that could get us onto the big boat... And it was not very protected for the driver, so ...

It will be dry and sunny. It never rains.
My prediction is whatever position everyones in after the first 2 corners, thats where they will finish!
Well, its safe to say someone upstairs decided to take what i said and reverse it. Sods law!
Epic race!!
I loved it, i was unfortunate to have to work but i was back and forth between the restaurant and the TV lounge so i could watch as much as possible. I recorded it at home so i was able to watch it all when i got home anyway.
Know it probably irritates a lot of people, but the sound: "LEWIS HAMILTON.....WIIIIINNNNSSSS!!!" somehow puts a big smile on my face!! :D Great drive from him, was ironic that a mistake costing him to pit on about lap 6 was the best thing to happen to him and is what enabled him to win the race! Bit fortunate but well done to McLaren with their strategy after that. After his initial error he was pretty consistent throughout and at one point was in a different league to the whole field, pulling away at around 1.3 seconds per lap to Kubica and Massa! Thats not luck Nemphis or anyone else who hates him, thats raw talent. Fantastic race for him to win here in Monaco, its the one he wanted to win and to win in such a fashion is the cherry on the top of an already flourishing carreer. Also quite impressively silences all those ignorant "He can only win from pole...blah blah....cant overtake...." comments that some people spout. To win from 3rd on the grid is good, to win from 3rd at Monaco is very impressive, to win from 3rd on the grid, at Monaco, in the wet, is sublime.
Kubica drove a pretty much flawless race, never made an error, fantastic drive. Only thing that stopped him from winning was his strategy and his pace not being quite on Hamiltons at times. Apart from that though, a stunning drive.
Massa did well, pulled out an early lead but in the wet your bound to as your running in clear air with no spray. Had an off at turn 1 which cost him dear, without that he should have been one place up on the podium.
Fantastic result for Mark in the Red Bull, shame his teammate had a bad day after his bad day yesterday, real shame for poor DC, has really had a very dissapointing weekend and probably one to forget.
Excellent drive from Vettel even though we never really heard much from him, infact i actually dont think i knew he had finished 5th untill after the race when the board came up!
Good drive from Barrichello and his first points score in over a year! Glad he's back with points on the board and its good for Honda aswell.
Kovy fought very hard to get a point from this race. Hes so unlucky recently, its just not gone right for him and i really hope his luck turns around because hes a great driver and seems like such a decent guy that its sad to see him not where he should be. Im confident that his time will come soon and we will see him on the top step of the podium. When you say it, it sounds what he did today even more impressive. 20th, starting from the pits, to 8th in wet condidtions round Monaco. Thats impressive.
Kimi. Kimi Kimi Kimi.... What happened man? Poor day all round from him, lost a place off the start, was never really on the pace of the leaders, lost a nose, went off at turn 1, gambled on rain that never came, driving error ended poor Sutil's best ever drive, lost another nose and came away with nothing. Im putting it down to a bad day at the office, but if it was Hamilton i would expect cries of: "See, hes nothing special... Cracking under pressure....not that talented.....etc" So i ask, why is this Hamilton bashing, saying hes craking under pressure, mainly dished out when he has a bad day or makes a mistake, not applied to Kimi?
Alonso had a pretty bad race, his half hearted attept at Heidfeld summed it up.
Not as bad as Heidfeld himself though, who had a bad weekend all round. Im beginning to worry about his future at BMW, we know he is quick, thats why he was given the nickname of "Quick Nick" but lately he has consistently failed to live with his teammate Kubica, who has come on in leaps and bounds this season. He must start to improve or next season we might see him heading elsewhere and BMW trying to intice a frustrated Alonso.
Got to shout out to poor Sutil, would have been a dream for him to get such a result here. He was in 5th i think? No it was 4th! Thats like winning the WDC for a team like Force India! I was gutted when he was punted out by the so called "best driver in the world". Just such a shame that he had to end the race, and it was even worse because it wasnt his fault. Unfortunately, he wont get another opportunity like that this season or maybe even next season. Such a shame.
Would also like to say about Piquet, i know its his first year and the first year is almost always tough, but he is struggling way more than i thought he would and the bad thing is, as far as i can see, hes not actually improving. Kovy started poor last year, but he consistently improved throughout the year, Piquet hasnt in my eyes improved at all so far since his debut in Melbourne. His qualifying hasnt improved, his overall race pace hasnt really improved, he just seems to be struggling quite a lot, it makes me question weather he was brought into it too sudden and maybe he would be better off going back to testing for another year. If my memory serves me right thats what Alonso did, and look at him now.
A fantastic race, im glad i recorded it now because i will probably want to watch it again!
Oh yeh, forgot. Some questionable reporting errors from ITV's louise. First on saturday: "So Heikki 4th on the grid and an all McLaren front row.." and today "...bet you never invisaged racing 4th here in Monza" Come on, better reporting please!! :D

Don't ask me about Piquet man... I think it's only because of his dad that he's got that seat. Someone like Davidson or Sato deserve that place a lot more than he does... He's constantly making mistakes.
And Lewis, I mean, what a nice guy. When I saw him, he's the only one that waves, says hello & signs all the autographs. Raikonen, for example, really doesn't give a f*ck, he has no passion. Lewis is smiling, he's a normal guy afterall, just very overwhelmed. I'm sure he's actually a really nice person, and hasn't got his head up his arse like many of the others. And who else would radio his team with a poor little voice saying "Sorry, I'm so sorry, sorry guys, I hit the wall... I'm so sorry". No one I bet. He deserved 100% to win.

Exactly. That moment made me wonder why on earth anyone can hate him. Youve just driven a great race, won it for your team, now leading the championship, and you appologise to your team for your only error of the race?! He isnt doing that for publicity, we might not have heard that, yet we catch him doing it time after time. Hes such a nice guy and hes one of the least arrogant drivers in the field. He is just great, his passion and determination are brilliant, and the way he doesnt forget his team after a win and always thanks them is great.

I hope Sutil gets a better ride next year. I doubt Force India will get any better> As we have seen over the whole year they are the ones who bring up the rear and are the only team who hasn't scored.
The race in Monaco with rain was made for drivers with great talent. Car performance really wasn't a big factor, which explains why an Ex-Spyker/Ex-Midland/Ex-Jordan car ran with ultra technology ridden Ferraris, BMWs, and McLarens. Remember that he had fastest lap a few times during the race and was even having a back and forth battle between Kubica and himself half way through the race.
Basically those who ran up front this past GP were the ones who exemplified car control and ability. This to me explains why we had some surprise runners up there, because they now had a chance in a "neutral" field. Sutil needs a ride with someone as good as BMW.
Personally I would install sprinklers at each race so that we always had wet tracks. It would guarantee cool races.
PS: Anyone notice how many Ferrari powered cars were up front. Factory/STR/Force India.

What a great race that was at Monaco! For me this was the most exciting race of the season. Even though Ferrari didn't get a 1/2 like
I hoped for. And what about BMW? I was ecstatic about Kubica, he
pretty much ran a perfect race, except for the team's strategy he
maybe could've have finished higher than he did. As for Kimi slamming
into Sutil, he shouldv'e paid more attention, looks to me he was pushing
a little too hard towards the end of the race. "SPEED" showed Sutil when he was back in the garage, and you could tell he was inconsolable
As for Hamilton he ran his usually brilliant race, I think the reason he is,
so lucky at times is that he has a "guardian angel" looking over his shoulder!

And that is what i get upset about, you guys are the reason why i can't stand looking at Hamilton. Similar to Brazilians, you follow a team while it is winning, the minute it looses your are all out.
I still follow Button. Im also a big fan of Rosberg, neither are winning races, yet alone championships. No one has forgotten about Coulthard, hes british, he still has a leigion of fans, maybe not on here, but certainly no one has forgotten about him.
I follow Liverpool FC. So dont say i follow a team while its winning and when they loose im off. Ive been there through the hard times, through the 10 year drought of a league win, through the bad managers, the "next year" talk every single season, when we win its a massive joy because i have been through the hardships.
I will do the same with Hamilton, you could say missing out on a near certain championship because of 2 bad races a hard time, i was gutted, it was agonising watching him cruise round Brazil at a crawl with no gears. But im still a fan, as soon as he had those 2 bad races this season i didnt go away, i was here supporting him. If he doesnt win a championship in the next 3 years i wont loose intrest. Did Nemphis only start following Kimi when he was winning and in contention for the championship last year? No, im sure he has been a long Kimi fan and followed him through his hardships.
You surely understand this being a follower of a team, instead of a driver.
Just dont judge all of us as glory hunters.

i know I should not judge all of you as glory hunters, but you know how it is, and its hard not to. half the people i see on the f1 circuit where all dressed in red when Ferrari was dominating, then all became Alonso fans, now Hamilton fans. and you all know it does happen, happens here in the forum with cars all the time as well..
Bah to any of you who i have offended i am sorry, just remember I will be watching all of you with eagle eyes.

Haha, no worries. I know how it is sometimes, but what do you expect some people to do, just not support Hamilton just because hes new? New people to F1 will usually support the best driver, used to happen a lot with Schumacher, a lot of people i know tell me that they were a big fan of Schui, but had perhaps seen 1 full GP in their lives! People follow whats big, at the moment that happens to be Hamilton, but there are genuine fans on here and out there that follow him because of his talent and personality, regardless of weather hes winning WDC's or not.

I agree with turbinas, that was probably the most exciting race yet in the season!
I was disappointed Sutil got hit, and Button didn't do so great. SeaBass is still having hard times. I fear SeaBass is going to be fired, throughout the whole season he's been struggling.
Kubica got a great win, Barrichello got Honda some points, Nakajima showed what he could do, and the other "underdog" drivers had a little easier time dealing with the big guys. I'm quite suprised Massa got a higher place instead of Kimi. I wonder what's going on in Kimi's head.....
EDIT: BTW, this is my favorite F1 track. But I'm sure everyone can't wait for Singapore!!!

In response to "walk on water" fanworship; I posited exactly this months ago. i.e.; Who was Heinz-Harold Frentzen? Only one of many runner-ups to Shumi a decade +/- ago. Who?
The big money, well-groomed/trained Hammie drives like a champion from the pole in the fastest car. From any other starting position he mostly drives like a rookie, wet or dry. Sue me.
Kudos to Hammie for recovering from early mistakes/avoiding later mistakes at Monaco. He earned a podium finish/driver points lead.

Erm, what?!
He drove like a rookie from 3rd to win, in the wet, round Monaco did he?? So that means that the current WDC drove like what? A toddler in a pedal car?
Most of the time hes not driving from the front to win is because he doesnt have the car to do so. You cant expect him to win every single race, he wont always have the car to do so, when he does, or when he has the opportunity to win he is right there. He has had a few bad races, and who doesnt?! Kimi drove his worst race all year, that was definately no where near his best, but what does it matter? Every driver has a bad race every now and again, Senna had bad days, Schumacher had bad days, does it make them any less of a driver?
Also, despite what many will argue, he is still new to the scene, you have to remember that this is only his second season, he still has a hell of a lot to learn, of course he is lacking experience, he will get that in time, but he has proven he is the real deal, he has some serious talent, you cannot doubt that.

No, a toddler on a pedal car, would have probably done less mistakes.

He should have the experience by the sounds of his 'up-bringing' You don't go into Formula one to learn things, you go in to use what you've already learned. A lot of people who defend Hamilton seem to forget that this kid has been brought up by Mercedes through the ranks in a competitive car usually in the winning team. He has the experience, he's got the seat time, he should know the strategies for winning a championship and driving responsibly.
You don't forget everything you learn the second you step into a F1, but you should be able to adapt and think every time you strap in.
Face it he's made some amateur mistakes over the past year-and-a-bit. And I personally think Mercedes should have gone against their judgement and kept him in GP2 or whatever the second-tier Euro open-wheelers are for another year.

Then why do people usually give drivers a year or so to get to grips with it before slagging them off for being crap? By your reasoning, Piquet must be an appaling driver, Kimi after that should never race again, neither should Alonso, Massa infact anyone who has ever made a few dodgy mistakes should be out of F1 according to that! We would have no drivers, every driver, however experienced makes some questionable mistakes (DC and his lack of awareness to passing cars?) Heck, Barrichello, the most experienced man in the history of F1 makes errors. F1 is different to the other formulas, each of them are different and unique, the cars alone are extremely different, youve got a different team, different engineers etc, its not the same, you cant just jump into F1 and go. Yet thats exactly what Hamilton did, it was unpresidented. Yeh Hammy has been brought through the ranks, and none of the others have? All those drivers have fought through the classes, most from Karting to get into F1, none of them have just had it handed to them on a plate. And before you all go nuts saying thats what happened to Hammy, he impressed Ron Dennis enough to put a hell of a lot of effort into his development in the hope that it would pay off, you cannot buy talent, you either have it or you dont, its just that simple. You can throw all the money and effort you want into someone but if they dont have the natural talent already there then it wont work.
He has race experience, but you still have a lot to learn, like all rookies do in their first year.
Last year he was arguably the most consistent driver in the field. Of course hes made mistakes, just like Kimi, Alonso, Massa, etc etc. That doesnt mean he should just be dropped, he was leading the WDC for nearly the entire season, he was consistently beating his double world champion teammate in an identical car, what more do you want from him?!!?!!
So you think McLaren should have left him in GP2? Are you seriously out of your mind?! He came into F1, blew everyone out of the water all season and apart from his inexperience and a technical glitch would have won the WDC at his first shot. I cannot understand how McLaren made a mistake in bringing him into F1. Their judgement was bang on, Hamilton has pretty much single handedly brought the spark back to F1 and introduced a whole new group to this sport.

I don't understand how you can say such a thing. In his FIRST year in Formula One, he was vice champion, just peanuts away from winning the whole thing. That is better than 90% of drivers achieve in a whole career.

Yeah but you go on about him 'nearly winning' last season and that no other driver has done that lately but just look at the car he has to play with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet if Sutil, Davidson, Vettel, Rosberg, & Kubica would have had the McLaren to play with they would have done just has good in 'wonder kid's' shoes :) !!!
Face it, we have seen the car makes the driver if that makes any sense, Kovi is miles better than he was last year because he his in a McLaren, Kubica is better because he has a better car underneath him and hell Rosberg is better aswell.
'Wonder kid' wouldn't be half as good in a Toro Rosso and you guys know it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell Kimi wouldn't be the best driver at the moment if he was in a Red Bull would he :D ?????????

Of course he wouldn't be he earned his place in the McLaren.
Remember he had no personal connection to Ron Denis or McLaren (unlike many other drives in Formula One *caugh* Piquet *cough* Rosberg...) so he obviously did pretty damn well, somewhere along the line, to earn that seat.

No but he scored the same amount of points as Hamilton did, and the mclaren was not as good as the Renault when Alonso won the championships, Plus the Mclarens where a rip off the Ferrari.
montoya obtained a 3rd place in his first season in F1, don't see people calling him th best there ever was either.
and nemphis i like that you go for Ferrari, but kimi is not the best driver right now, or was ever.

^^^ no no wonder bread clinged on to the second place, Alonso was third, but really they where both runner ups,

Just out of curiosity, who do you personally think is the best driver in the field at this moment?
And Nemphis, if the car makes the driver, what basis do you then have to say that Kimi is the better driver? Surely you can only comment on the better car, and say that all the drivers are equally talented.
By your own theory: Hamilton = Kimi
