Reigning Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikonnen has shelled out €200,000 for a 1974 Chevrolet Corvette (’73 model pictured) once owned by Hollywood actress Sharon Stone. Raikonnen bought the car at a charity event for the Elton John Aids Foundation on the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Raikonnen’s new Corvette has just four miles on the odometer and is currently stored in Los Angeles - apparently none of the original owners drove it much. While €200,000 may seem a little expensive for a Corvette the price Kimi paid paled in comparison to Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya’s €226,000 acquisition of a piano used by Elton John for composing his 2001 album “Songs from the West Coast,” Reuters reports.
Mallya, owner of the Force India Formula 1 team also donated a one-week cruise on one of his mega-yachts, which went for €375,000 to a private bidder. In total, the auction raised almost €1 million.

I think it went to the wrong hands. I hate how stuck up Raikonnen is. :(

Nice. Wonder how Ferrari will like him driving a car without their prancing horse on the front!

Hahaha!! I would love that!

Think Massa or someone should buy him one as a laugh to see what Ferrari would say to him with an SLR on his drive!!

I find it so ironic that after a race competing against Renault, they all drive off in Renault Espaces to the press conference :p

I've heard that older American cars are very popular over in the Scandinavian region. But I wouldn't buy a car like this, its not the type you can actually drive, just keep safe until you sell it on.
I'd rather get something that has been driven and maintained for its entire life.

Man if I had all the money that Raikkonen has, I'd go absolutely nuts and buy all the cars I had ever wanted.

But, 200,000 euros to Raikkonen is like £10 to a normal person.

And about lending it to Sutil, yes, Raikko would find a way to rear end it. :p

LOL, the "Iceman" would probably rear end him driving out of his driveway

Nice choice Kimi....

If I were in his position, I would've gotten a 250 GTO...
250 GTO = Sex (design) and Speed (NOT THE DRUG)

Can't blame the dude,

Hell I would :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway ..........

What can Ferrari do ??????

Kimi obviously has tastes and just because it doesn't have a prancing horse on the hood doesn't mean a thing after all Kimi didn't sign his life away to Ferrari when he signed his contract did he ???????

Besides Kimi like myself probably hates Ferrari's so a Corvette is the way to go :p !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahah, it went to a good thread.

However, Kimi is the only man who reminds me the old formula 1 in '70-'80. He doesn't care about anyone or anyhing, does only what he want, doesn't care about the politics even in the team. Remember when he said he doesn't know where his champions cup is? He was drunk and lost it :D.

That's what we're missing in these days F1 - real life and real persons. Years ago drivers were having their lunch in the cockpits, were having undisguised arguments with team's chiefs right in front of the TV cameras, everything was open and clear. Alan Jones was driving with a broken hand because he had a fist fight before a race. Everything was so simple and understandable, without so much dark games.

We're not seeing these things today, the drivers don't look like real persons when outside the track, they're idealized. I love how Hamilton gets driving prohibitions in France and Germany for speeding. I love seeing that not only the money are playing here but feelings too, personal opinion is not determined by team or another politics.

Although I hate SLR I would love Kimi to buy one, just for the fun.
I respect Kimi for what a driver he is and also for what a person he is (not as fascinating as others but free of all inhibitions and regulations). We need more of that, don't we? What do you think guys?

:-kI think the least Kimi should do is give the 'Vette to Sutil. It may not
help him feel better, but at least he'll look better while driving about
town in it!
