Sorry the thread's so late guys, haven't had time to create it.

Anyway what an astonishing race, I'll edit this post and post my thoughts on the weekend tomorrow. ;)

Post away people!

Everyones been posting in the Pre thread! How about we just have one thread from now on, save you the hassle of having to make 2 threads and saves us getting confused about which thread to post in lol!

Anyway, ill just repeat what i said in the other thread!

KUBICA!!! Has been coming for a while and he thoroughly deserves it, as do the guys at BMW. Seems like Montreal is becoming a track for new stars to begin to shine! Im thrilled for the Pole, he has been fantastic all season and has narrowly missed out on a win before so it is great to see him finally make it on to the top step. Yes, circumstances resulted in him having the opportunity, otherwise he would have been 2 steps down on the podium, but nevertheless he fully deserves this win. Hope this is the beginning of many more to come from Kubica, hes got talent, major talent. Hehe, what were you saying Kubica?: “Canada is one of my favourite tracks, from 2006 already, but I don’t think we have the pace to win here,” Kubica added

Also massively pleased for Nick, he has been struggling quite a lot this season due to him not being able to heat his tyres as effectively as his younger teammate, so to see him up there is a great boost for him, hopefully he will use this and aim to build upon it in France. Weather he let Kubica past because of BMW wanting to secure the win, or weather he decided to let him go on his own it doesnt matter, he drove well today and im chuffed to see him on the podium.

Not as chuffed though, as i am to see ol' Coulthard up there!!! What a race for him, if you would have said to me on Friday that the scot would be on the podium i would have laughed you out of the room! Yet even with problems he nursed the Red Bull home to secure his first points this year and a fantastic podium aswell. Congrats David!

Fantastic drive from the Toyota boys, Glock in 4th and Trulli in 6th, but Trulli could have been higher if Glock hadnt have blocked him coming out of turn 2 and let Massa through. Still, nice points for Toyota.

Massa drove well, just kept on pushing, nicked a place when he could, stole two when a Honda and McLaren got into a scrap into the hairpin! What a pass that was!! After all the "Massa hasnt got the pace to contend for the title over Kimi" talk, hes sure doing a damn good job proving them wrong! Hes currently 2nd in the championship, tied with Hammy. Go get em Massa!! I would actually LOVE to see him win it, hes a brilliant driver and seems like such a great guy with a lot of character. I dont think he will, i still think Kimi will make it 2 WDC's this year, hopefully im wrong and Hamilton gets his first WDC but if Hammy doesnt win it, then i want Massa to get it. COME ON MASSA!!!!!!

Nice points for Barrichello and the Honda team, was looking much better for them at one point, 6th and 7th, (and at one point Barrichello was 2nd! IN A HONDA!!!) but strategies either make or break your race and in this case it really didnt help them at all.

Kovy was (once again! Grr!!) unlucky. Im really frustrated that he just doesnt seem to get any luck at all going his way. Hes a great driver, and one day he will have his time to shine, i just wish it was sooner rather than later! Keep your chin up Kovy, your time will come!

Rosberg's race was effectively ended the moment he went into Hammy. But before that he was going strong in 4th and was looking good for some serious points here. Unfortunately he had a shunt and it was really never going to happen for him from then on. Another driver who seems to be plagued by bad luck and things just not going right for him. I would desperately want to see him in a top car (or even better, for Williams to make some serious development and get to the front) because he is a class driver and has the ability there to really challenge for wins. Weather or not he is capable of winning a championship is yet to be seen, but a race winner he definately is.

Another word about the ever struggling Nelson Piquet. As soon as i saw a Renault parked neatly by a wall, i knew it had to be you. I said it in Monaco, i think i said it before that aswell, you have to step your game up. I know coming into F1 is not an easy thing, and being the son of a brilliant driver doesnt help the expectations that are inevitably going to be placed upon your shoulders, but you simply have failed to deliver anything so far. Kovalinen last year picked himself up after his disasterous Melbourne debeut, and from Canada to Brazil scored consistent points. This is your target. Forget the dream of a podium, forget 4th 5th and 6th while your at it, just concentrate on getting a point or 2. Your not in a terrible car, yes it sure isnt a Ferrari, but its capable of scoring points on the day. If you dont start getting some good points on the board, i would be very concerned about where you will be carreer wise in 2009, because at the rate you are going, you wont be at Renault and its looking doubtfull weather you will be in a driving seat in F1 at all.

Eventfull race, some bad moments (Hammy :o) and some better moments (Kubica win, DC podium) but all in all a very memorable race and it has sure blown the championship battle wide open!

ROLL ON FRANCE!!! :D

It's no hassle, it's just been a busy weekend. I've been doing loads of revision and went to the hospital today and found out I've broken my finger so it's all been a bit hectic. I'm reading the Pre-thread now. I've been making GP threads for 2 years and I'm not gonna stop now!

By the way just because I don't post for a few days doesn't mean I'm not here. :) If I don't have time to post, I can guarantee you I'll be reading what's said, so watch out. ;)

I remember Kubica hitting the wall at this circuit last year. Yesterday he was the winner. :)

GRRR! I may be British but i don't support Hamilton. Hes too cocky. I support Ferrari (don't jeer). I think he should have been disqualified at least for the next race for that hit. How can you be so blind not to see a blinking led red light in front of you :? He ended Raikonnens race unfairly. :(

What a tit. At least Hamilton got what he deserved in the end.

It was a nice change though, having a race without the 2 main competetors leading it. It was great for BMW with 1-2 finish, and Kubica. And DC, you just though something would happen before the end of the race to ruin it, like usually happens.

I know...I was waiting for his car to burst into flames, or for him to spin out after hitting the "Wall of Champions"....I liked how his team got on the radio to him with about 12 laps left and said "Good job david...take care of the engine and the gearbox, short shift it if you have to..."
:D
Yay mechanics promoting short-shifting!!!

Benny; I done told you to ditch the "pre" thread and do the race thread only. You are wasting bandwidth/adding confusion. Give it up! You are busted for ineptitude!

It's that MercedesMcLarenF1 kid that starts the "Pre" threads, not Benny.

I have no idea why he does it.

I don't care! 2 threads = 2x the hype. I hate hype.

Yeah, I have to agree. Its getting a tad silly now.
It should be one thread for each GP. Theres no point in having two, it only adds confusion, and add's nothing to actual GP conversation

I always knew that BMW would win a race sometime this season! They
were well due for it. As for Hamilton how in the world could he have been so blind?!?

Yeah, the pre thread sucks. I think one thread for the whole thing is enough, otherwise there are two different discussions in either thread and it gets complicated.

Ha. :D

And not to sound arrogant, but I'm not going to give up my GP threads...the timing of them may have been bad (GP threads on Sunday night aren't as good as on Fridays), but as I said, I've been doing them for 2 years and some of them have had some legendary conversations, not least with the Alonso vs. Schumacher stuff in 2006. :)

Now, I would make my post but I have to go and type up History coursework with a broken finger, so there's no time. Plus I've got three GCSEs in less than a week, but I'll try and get it done ASAP.

I think Ben should just make the threads on the wednesday before the race, and that thread should be suffice for the whole weekend. Simple enough.

And I'll direct the PRE-GP people to look at his GP thread so it seems to be in place.

PS. The Pre-GP threads were ment for predictions, meanwhile the GP threads are ment for discussions.

Then call the thread "__________ GP predictions" and you won't have to redirect people because it'll be understood that once the race is under way, folks don't have to predict any more.

Simple.

"Pre-_________" was always a lousy title anyways. I always thought of Pre-natal, pre-menstrual--woman stuff--when I read "pre"-whatever.

On the very first PRE-GP thread I made, it was clearly stated to be predictions of the race.

Realistically, that should be encompassed in the actual thread and it saves confusion.
