I really thought someone would of made a thread for this already.
Anyways. I know eurosport are covering LeMan live across europe, and I'm sure America et all have their coverage as well.
So of course who's supporting who this year.

I have a likening to Pescarolo, but I wouldn't consider myself a fan. I'm more a fan of the cars than any team.
I thought it was funny to see Peugeot have gone for 8/9 former or current Formula 1 drivers. Crazy!
I like the Dome S102 design. It's not groundbreaking, but looks great!

Pretty sure it'll be close bewtween the Audis & Peugeots, and the Corvettes and Aston's are practically equal!
My Dad left for Le Mans this morning =)

C'mon Pug!
And Aston, for that matter.
Both teams are the underdogs, so winning is paramount to prevent a boring Audi domination again.
My Uncle also left this afternoon. I'm not jealous at all....

i think i'd rather see Peugeot win. Audi was won for the last 7 years. I think by now its boring.
Besides, I think its great they're running 8/9 f1 contestants. Why not, afterall, F1 is the top motorsport.
By the way. Does anyone know a free live timing system for lemans.
I knows theres the chronos thing on the f1 site, but its not really any good.

Peugeot are clocking lap times 4 seconds faster than Audi. BUT Pescarolo did that as well in 2005, so I say Audi'll win. Fate's an Audi fan.
I'll be watching all 24 hours. Since we moved into our new crib in August last year, we've got this awesome channel that'll be broardcasting all 24 hours with five-minute breaks now and then so the viewers get a chance to take a piss.
By the way, what in sweet hell's bathtub happened to the Mazda Lola?

Radiolemans.com will be covering the race, I am not 100% sure its the full 24hrs but it is full live coverage. If they are covering the whole 24hrs, YES, i am going to listen to it all live, why not.
Overall race win i think it will be a Audi win, but the peugeots will give the audis a better run for the money than last year.
The main team i will be keepinguptoadte with is the Flying Lizard Motorsport Porsche 911 997 GT3 RSR.
Below is a link to the live radio coverage.

At least we've got Jake!
I will be watching the 24 as well and I am really excited, after the Restrictor plate races in NASCAR this race is probably the one I look most forward to watching. I think Audi will win again with the real TK winning it all. I hope Corvette takes it to the Astons and Seleens. I also hope that Spyker can get a podium, but Ferrari will probably win GT2. The RS Spyders are bound to win LMP2, but quite frankly I don't care for that division.
As always I look forward to a great race and may the best man win. (Corvette FTW)

I might watch the Eurosport coverage but mainly www.radiolemans.com is my coverage.
Any people who will be waatching it should really give this a try. Its superb coverage. I used for the Nurburgring 24hr & Last years Le Mans & i strongly reccomend it.
The Audi Vs Peugeot & Aston Martin Vs Corvette battles will get the most attention. But everyone are forgeting the other entrants & the team i am going to give my support to, Flying Lizard Motorsport.
Anyone else supporting Flying Lizard Motorsport?

I'm rooting for the Chevy's..Why? Because I haven't rooted for an american in way too long, and since i don't have a 550 to roof for under the prancing pony..There's no other option..
Last time I was supporting an american car, was back with Team Oreca..
I mean..3 times FIA GT champ and 3X Le Mans class champ..
God that car was amazing..
Then dodge backed out like douchebagz and chevy came in and took over..Since chevy's been in the game, i've found myself rooting for the Fireballs(ferraris)

This is the most girly car on the track this year! Seriously, it's the most beautiful Le Mans car since the Bentleys.

Too bad Acura won't be racing there this year. Its a shame Panoz won't be there either. (and to think one of the founding fathers of ALMS won't be represented)
I think the new closed cockpit rule the ACO have in place is a brilliant idea. My favorite closed cockpit car is the Epsilon Euskadi, just looks superb and non-girly. The Dome looks odd and I don't like it very much. (the headlights seem much too high and the cockpit is too round)

Does anyone know what the closed cockpit rules and restrictions are going to do?!?!?!?
That means all the old GT-1 cars of yesteryear that got aerodynamicaly outclassed due to the recent changes might start resurfacing, with some powertrain changes that is.
The old audi R8 used to have a roof a long time ago..

Does anyone know what the closed cockpit rules and restrictions are going to do?!?!?!?
From Wikipedia:
ACO originally unveiled major rule changes regarding the LMP classes in June 2006. In 2007, more specific plans were announced. The new regulations, to be introduced in 2010 and titled as "LMP1 Evo", would change the LMP1 classified cars to solely prototypes with closed-cockpit designs. From 2010 on, closed-cockpit (coupe) design would be mandatory in LMP1. Changes will mainly affect bodywork and chassis, all other areas (e.g. engine) will remain unchanged. LMP2 is once again labelled as the class for privateers only.
Part of the original plan was to have more resemblance between the prototypes and production cars. While the specifics of the "LMP1 Evo" rules are still unclear, it remains to be seen how this could achieved. ACO has wished that major manufacturers would use design elements from their road cars. In January 2008, Daniel Poissenot, the sporting director of ACO said that discussions are still continuing with the manufacturers.
From 2010 on, proposed dimensions for the cockpit are; 60 mm higher and 100 mm wider cabin than currently, required windshield base width 1100 mm and side pontoon height inceased from 400 to 550 mm.
The ACO is concerned about the protection of the environment and the consumption of fossil fuels. In the future use of alternative fuels will be encouraged especially for the prototypes. In 2008, petrol with 10% ethanol and biodiesel (biomass to liquid) are allowed to be used by both LMP classes.
Kinetic energy recovery systems (regenerative brake) are possible new technologies to be used in the future; "the ACO is studying specific rules for LMP1 which will be equipped with a kinetic energy recovery system."
The ACO is also considering performance reductions for safety reasons (and also to decrease costs) because the so called "limit" on lap times of 3:30.00 per lap was breached in the 2007 race. The measures for better safety could be modifications to air restrictors, the bodywork and the wings affecting aerodynamics. Such changes could be introduced in 2009 or 2010.

GT1: Corvette
GT2: Porsche of any kind.
I hate that speed isn't covering the whole thing but instead taking 3 hour breaks to show us crap like pinks, unique whips and Nascar. You know the day that the all star races where going on for Nascar they only showed Nascar stuff the whole day. But we can't get the whole day for a much more important race that is actually all day. GRRR! Speed is really pissing me off lately... I really wish my friend wasn't having a party that night.. I will miss about 4 hours of it because of the pary but I will watch ever second of it that's on Speed that I'm not there.

Yeah, Pedro has a 45 sec lead at the moment i believe. Not only that, Wurz is yet to come out. If everything goes smoothly, it could be the number 8 car winning.
Also, an Aston in second, yeah. I think that vette vs aston battle will go all the way to the finish line. Vettes are the advantage, but both teams are running pretty much identical times.

Just heard that the #7 Peugeot just had some sort of punctured, as quoted by Villeneuve, and as such they did a very short stint. Gene jumped into the car.
At the same time, the #9 Peugeot got black flagged for not having its lights working, and now they're changing the front nose cone. And now they can't even get the seatbelt on Zonta properly!
Also, the #16 Pescarolo Judd has gone off and taken a Epsilon Euskadi with it! I think both have continued.

Flying Lizard No. 80 Porsche in Garage for Substantial Repairs
5:37 pm CET – Le Mans, France Approximately 2 hours into the 24 Heures du Mans, the No. 76 IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche (driven by Patrick Long) made contact with the No. 80 Flying Lizard Porsche on course and both cars flew off the course deep into the gravel. The collision drove the No. 80 Porsche into the guardrail. There was significant damage to the car including severe bodywork damage on all sides, a broken rear wheel, two broken radiators, and right rear suspension damage. Driver Seth Neiman was able to drive the car back to the pits, where the crew is currently working on repairs. The No. 80 had been in the lead in GT2 for most of the race, with Joerg Bergmeister driving the first stint, and Johannes van Overbeek the second. We do not have an estimated time yet for return to the track; the car has been off track for 50 minutes so far.
I hope they get back out.

The No. 80 has fallen to tenth in GT2 -- at the back of the pack -- and is 20 laps down after the lengthy repairs. The No. 80 had been in the lead in GT2 at the time of the incident. For more detail, see the Flying Lizard blog at www.lizardms.com.
The No.16 Pescarolo Sport had a electrical trouble for anybody who is keeping upto date on the Pescarolo Sport cars.

The Audi Vs Peugeot & Aston Martin Vs Chevrolet battles will be the ones to watch.
The lola is reported to have had a suspension failure and as a result hit a barrier and damaged the radiator as the temperature shot up instantly.

weh. Pug overtaking into first place. Fantastic race so far.
Plus, those porsches are mean. They seem to be running less fuel and near equal pace to some of the top 10. Hopefully expecting to see them in a good high posistion

Oh come on, you mean you don't want to watch Nascar talk shows?!
Lol, I completely agree. I miss seeing WRC, DTM, JGTC, and scores of other series that feature real road racing.
That link to the Eurosport coverage is a godsend, I'm not a fan of Corvette but they take covering this event seriously (remember the camera on the outside of the C6-R last year?) and they seriously go up a point in my book for really being a dedicated team.
Go Peugeot! :p
Edit: okay, scratch that. Less futbol more le mans.

Peugeot's cars may be faster, but I hope Audi's experience in Le Mans will prevail.
Dome isn't doing sooo bad for their first time... I wish them good luck in the future years.
The Aston-powered prototypes aren't having much luck. Hopefully they'll get their game up.
The Vettes continue to kick ass, w00t!!! (Or at least I think)
I hope the Porsche's can get some points, I don't want the Ferraris to win!
Sadly, I cannot watch Le Mans live, as I have some family plans conflicting my plans. At least the 'vettes didn't die like last year!
Please keep this thread updated, I wanna know the highlights of every 10 min.....

Wurz is just classic. "we drive it like we stole it"
Just because hes such a nice guy, I'd support they're car till the end.
Dome, they're doing this well now, with no testing, pretty unknown and possibly not that fast drivers. Imagine next year.
For the race, I'm supporting the aston's, holland porsche and 8 peugeot.
I really don't which car wins the LMP1, so long as its a pug.

I want the No.8 Peugeot to win as that cars is going super fast.
I would like the Flying lizard Motorsport Porsche to climb up the order.
Yeah, Wurz'z comment saying they drive it like they stole it is just a good way to sum up the peugeot pace.

I have some more bad news.
My radio feed has gone down.
I cannot get pictures either.
I NEED HELP.
Sorry, crisis over.
I have a Flying Lizard Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 RSR Update
10:00 pm CET -- Le Mans, France -- It’s been a tough start to the 24 Heures du Mans for the Lizard squad. At the 7 hour mark, the No. 80 Porsche is running ninth in GT2 – at the back of the nine cars remaining of the starting 12 in GT2. It’s a long way from the lead, which the team held for much of the first two hours of the race.
Things looked promising at the outset, with Joerg Bergmeister starting third on the grid. (The team had qualified fourth, but the No. 76 IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche, which was on the pole, received a penalty before race start, and had to move to the back to start last, moving all cars up one position.) In the first 15 minutes of the race, Bergmeister moved quickly to first position after passing the first and second position GT2 cars (the No. 96 Ferrari and the No. 77 Porsche). The No. 82 Risi Competizione Ferrari was close behind Bergmeister, moving into second. All went smoothly in Joerg’s first stint and at the 50-minute mark, he turned the car over to Johannes van Overbeek. van Overbeek went out in second: the No. 82 Risi Ferrari also pitted at the same time but opted for no tire change and beat the No. 80 out of the pits. A few minutes into his stint, Johannes passed the No. 82 Ferrari, and retook the lead.
Johannes held the lead until his pit stop and driver change to Seth Neiman. Neiman headed out and things were still going well until the No. 76 IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche collided with the No. 80, sending both cars deep into the gravel and Neiman into the guardrail. With one wheel broken, the other wheels severely damaged and suspension damage, Neiman was able to limp back to the pits.
80 minutes later, a nearly new car left the garage: the crew had repaired two of the three front radiators, replaced nearly every piece of bodywork, including the undertray, and repaired the right rear suspension. The lengthy repair pushed the Lizards from the lead to tenth. After the repairs, Joerg Bergmeister took the wheel for a double stint. Near the end of his stint, he set the fastest GT2 race lap so far, with a 3:59.887. He turned the car over to Seth in P9.
The bad luck continued for the Lizard when, 20 minutes into his stint, Neiman encountered oil in Arnage, going off course and into the tirewall, damaging the center and left front radiators, the front under floor and the front bumper.
After 30 minutes of repairs in the garage, Neiman was out on track again. He reported strong vibrations and returned to the pits. The crew decided to do a complete realignment, and Johannes van Overbeek headed out thirty minutes later.
7 hours into the race, the Lizards are in ninth and nearly 40 laps down on the overall leader.
Is their anyboddy 110% going to see the race through the night regardless as i am & sofar i am the only DEFINATE, no ifs or buts about it watching it & listening it live through the night?

Will their be constant talking in this live channel providing it goes ahead for the race?

I've got that streaming video going on in one window and radio le mans in the other, both seem to be working quite well, although the radio cuts out every now and then and the video isn't the best quality.
So far, the Peugeots have been fighting off problems, but those Audi's keep on cruising. Peugeot still leads, but Audi is in second, and the other Audi's are just waiting for breaks.
The Oreca prototype is running quite well and is the leading gas-powered P1 car, while the Porsches are winning in P2.
GT1 is a great battle, with the Vette and AM swapping positions each time one comes in for a pit stop.
GT2 is the same story, but I think Ferrari has an edge after the two Porsches crashed into each other (stupid move of the race so far).
It is actually going really well so far, a good race with close battles in each class. No rain so far, I think, but word has it that it is coming soon.

Dave Richard of Aston Martin said not long ago they was expecting rain within 1 hour & that was around 30-40mins ago.
Phoenix_22
Jun 14, 2008, 7:01 PM
I must have missed that, the last I heard was someone on a forum saying rain is coming soon, but the people on TV said rain was coming during the night and into tomorrow morning.
I didn't catch all of it, but I think the Dome Judd Coupe is out of the race. They were in 10th when something with the engine broke and oil started coming out. Someone from some team said the problem was lingering and it just wasn't going to keep going.
It's a shame, because 10th place overall is quite good, and I have to admit it was one of the best looking cars in the field. Hopefully they will find a way to get it going again.
Correct me if I'm wrong about which car it was.
By the way, I am loving the English accents. I just need some tea and crumpets to go along with my Le Mans viewing.
Edit: Looks like I was wrong, the garage door for the Dome Judd is still open and they are working for it. If the garage door is down, it's game over, but that hasn't happened yet, although they have dropped some positions.
Edit2: Safety car is out! Peugeots and Audis are coming in to the pits as the Audi R8 pacecar is out and about due to a crash involving the #6 Oreca Courage (was running in 9th place overall).
Medical car just went out as well...
Edit3: Chaos, omg!
The leading gas-powered P1 car, the sister car to the Oreca Courage that just crashed has problems and was put in the garage. The Peugeot passed another car on the way to pit lane (on the pre pit-lane thing) and that is apparently legal. Driver of the #6 is okay, but he was put on a stretcher into an ambulance.
The second Peugeot, driven by Franck Montagny has gotten around McNish and is now right in front of him.
...chaos at midnight. :p

damn, first safety car. Hope that driver is OK. I saw the safety and medical car, but not the actual crash
Although, look at the pits. They look so silent, with just a few people sitting around quiet. I guess they're having some rest while the safety car goes around
