My vote goes to the impreza! 8)

I agree, The Impreza WRC is better. I think it's mainly because of Subaru's 4WD system, it's known for it's effectivity and quality.

i'm not sure they will but i am sure it will be a french team that is taking the cup this year though, Both Citroen and peugeot have done very well this year, as for the drivers championship i would like to see Petter Solberg take the title.

cuz i was playin GT3 the other day, and like a newbie i was basing fact on a game... BUT, it had the citroen xsara rally car as an FF layout. i'd think the guys at Polyphony Digital wouldn't make such a mistake like that, so maybe the past wrc xsaras were FF?? haha i look like such a goof basing fact upon GT3, but oh well. it makes sense! i'd think gt3 would be accurate at least in the drivetrain of famous cars!

i just checked out the drivetrains of all the 2004 wrc models, and yeah they're all awd... it makes me wonder...

ya that Xsara was FF in GT3, but anyways, me being a BIG fan of Subaru and ofLance Armstrong, yes..the WRX is the best, although, that new 307 from Peugeot might give the WRX a challenge  ...but i don't know, the Peugeot team this year isn't that impressive this year, that Gronholm is out of his prime. The new Impreza was doing very well on the Mexico rally, but then Solberg crshed down 11th (i think), but managed to get back to 5th place, which is an amazing acheivement. Also, the last time I checked, Solberg was winning the New Zealand Rally, so I think the car is easily good enough, its just down to driver error!

Subaru Impreza is best, did you know they can go the speed of a motorbike.

This is true, because the engine of an Impreza WRC has about 650-700bhp, its just that its restricted to 300 for the WRC rules. Some people took the restrictor off the engine of (i think the 2002 car) Impreza WRC and got stats that it has amazing power, so imagine a car with 700hp with long gear ratio's - top speed could be anything!
This is not limited to the Subaru car, the Skoda Fabia WRC has similar stats as well, its just that they did the experiment on an Impreza.

12 inch pianist
Apr 18, 2004, 5:17 AM
long ratios sure buts its not gonna get there as quick (watever there is)

SubaruKid37
Apr 18, 2004, 5:21 AM
thats true, but either way, you can gear it to go 0-120mph quickly or 0-top end speed slower, but get a higher speed in the end, which was what !ChEeKy GiRl! said.

I realize this is an old post, but shouldn't it be changed from the 206 to the 307? That's what they're using now. And my vote would go to the Xsara, it just never seems to fail when I'm watching. But its the driver that really matters IMO.

not really, the 206 is the 3rd or 4th most succesful rally car ever, the 307 has nothing to its name, as it was disqualified from Cyprus rally this year because of a dodgy water pump.

The Focus is the best current rallye Car and Ford will win the Championship this year, cos they have two of the best drivers in the sport at the moment. The best rallye car of all time - either a RS200 G-B or a Escort RS1600 Mk I or a Audi Quattro.

Duval = 0 wins
Martin = very few wins

""Having potential is great, if your 12 years old""

Look at the best drivers, Loeb and Solberg, Solberg being the best at the moment, more wins than Martin, and a WRC Championship under his belt.
Martin will get better, but not yet, and Duval needs more experience, like Hirvonen who finally got a works drive this year. Gronholm is past it now, but might still get more wins though.

I wouldn't say Petter is the best I say he is even w/ Loeb. Remember it was him and Loeb last year in GB and Loeb was held back by his team so he couldn't go after the championship and he has more wins than petter this year plus he is leading petter in the driver's championship.

thats your opinion, and technically the 04Focus was the best, just that car was so bad it just couldnt perform :P now though the 307 and 44S Impreza is better, and Citroens last Evolution of the Xsara is very very good, next year they are introducing the C2 WRC car, which according to the paper work should decimate all competition!!!

MattMerce
Jul 09, 2004, 1:22 AM
as far as cars go the impreza is a force to be rekoned with, but the driver makes all the difference look at skoda's performance last year, until hiroven gets more experience I don't see subaru winning the title although I'd like them to, I think the best team is by far citreon, sianz is a great driver and loeb is every bit solberg's equal, I think if subaru had burns like they planned they could win but since they don't we'll have to wait for hiroven gain experience before we see a title, pugoet is no longer a threat gronholm is past his prime and he's their best driver, for now it's citrogen's time, and I see subaru passing ford off for second place soon, ford hasn't been consistent like subaru

mattwrx100
Jul 09, 2004, 11:43 PM

yea it is the driver that makes the car, not the car that makes the driver, in rally racing. unlike drag where you need the better car to win. if you vote for best car, impreza because i like it. if it was the drivers vote. then i dont know. i can never watch rally racing ever since the FOOD channel took over speed vision. SubaruKid37
Aug 18, 2004, 3:08 PM
I dont know, because I live in England, but you give no credit to the car, actually the car is as important as the driver, because if one car is more aerodynamic than another, then the handling improves and has better speed on the rare flat-out parts, to you a second may not seem like a lot, in in rallying, on some stages spilt times can be as close as 0.01seconds, and if you put Solberg in a Fabia WRC, he could not match the pace of the Impreza with Gardemeister in. bad example, but I hope it made sense.

This year I'm gonna have to disagree on that looked what happened when Solberg went through the watersplashes this year in argentina was it his fault that he had to retire? no there was too much downforce on the car and every time he went through even when he reduced his speed dramatically his car came out damaged. another example is mitsu at NZ both cars died of mechanical faolures drivers fault no. i think it is a combination of driver team and car that makes a good car a great car and a good driver a great driver

3 in a row now but the bad news is Seb got 2nd which means seb will have to retire all but one rally and get 4th or lower and Solberg will have to win every rally so the drivers champ. is pretty much locked but the thing i did not like about GB was Mikko's performance up to 6th and he lost it (even though I heard it was team orders for that) it seems he is a bust I mean I kno its his 1st year but I thought we would be seeing some improvement from him but its mostly 7th or lower or he retires I mean Subaru should let him go or tell him to get out. Just a thought if ford folds up for 2005 maybe Subaru could pick up Duval or Martin.

mattwrx100
Sep 19, 2004, 11:14 PM
I just watched the rally on Speed and I have to use one of Petter's Favorite words"Unbelievable!!!" But Nicky Grist had reported that Martin is lining up a drive for Peugeot and Duval (rumor) has a drive already w/ Citroen. so which makes my hopes up their not possible really and I trust Grist cause last year he was right on what was gonna happen w/ McRae and other rumours so now all my hopes lie in McRae returning hopefully for Subaru since Burns is probably gonna get minimal time in rallies next year in private cars so my new saying is "McRae for 2005!!!"

Hiroven is not bad at all for his first year. Solberg only managed 11 points his entire first season. He spent most of it crashing. I was actually expecting Mikko to only the minimun amount of points on his best races and crash or not finish on most of the others. So I'm quite happy with his performance. I expect he'll be a more major player next year and possibly be close for the driver's title in two years.

I expect he'll be a more major player next year and possibly be close for the driver's title in two years.
I kno I'm pessimestic but if Ford disbands Subaru is in for one hell of a season I mean look at the teams Peugeot-Gronholm Martin (a force to be reckoned w/ if the cars gremlins get worked out) and Citroen- Loeb, and shared time between Saniz and Duval(a definite tough tough team we could be seeing dominanace) but w/ Solberg's first year it gave him an experience I mean sure he was crashing but it helped him sorta kno what speed was too fast and helped him control the car better while Mikko is taking it easy and not finding how fast to control which might score him minimal points but it will help him in the long run

I am not going to watch the WRC any more, its now dominated by PSA and Subaru after Ford leave, its not looking good.
