View Full Version : My Block owns... and a poll...

Down my street, there are some of the nicest cars! There is a '72 Chevelle, a '69 Mercury Cyclone, and a 1980 Camaro with a 305. I have a 1981 Camaro Z-28 with a 350 but it is not insured. My friend down the street has the car that is in the guess-that-car topic in General. One more: a 1970's Ford Torino... Who do you think owns the sweetest ride on my block?

Perhaps you could give some pics and specs about each?

ah, good old detroit power. I wish i lived on a block like that. Is the 350 in your camaro stock, or did you put it in your self? I didn't think they came with that big of an engine, but i could be wrong. Anyway, i vote for the cyclone. Those are cool . And thalm, you think all of those suck because you know jack **** about them. If you did, you'd think it's cool.

Oops I meant to say that I have an '80 Camaro Z-28. oops! Anyways the 350 is not completely stock. It was also rebuilt!

thats because.......
a) they are ingnorant
b) have never heard the sound of a chevy small-block roaring to life
c) are biased towards japenese cars because you've watched fast and furious too many time
d) thinks anything without a type-R symbol is not worthy.
Enough of your "anti-american, pro-japanese" veiw of autos. It's getting old. You can't get any real power out of a 4 or 6 cylinder without forced induction. Not true with a V-8. I'm guessing corn's 350 could be pushing more than 300hp. And, i'm sure it gets good gas mileage, probaly low 20's.

I get about that in horsepower. probably about 350 to 380 ft. lbs of torque. But about the gas-mileage: it's a little bit of a gas guzzler and it takes premium! But I agree with you on everything else that you just said!

ah here we go with your ignoranace once more, you must be the one that thinks anything with out a type r symbol is not worthy, and i am not pro japanese but pro-import and yes i am anti-american and yippy the sound of a chevy small block(must be compensating for what you don't have) If i am not the one wiht sterotypical views of what is not worthy and what is not. SO do not call me ignorant you are the ignorant one by your "thinks everything withour a type-r sticker is not worthy"

WOw, all of you need to calm the **** down...seriously, let people have their goddamn opinions
First off, American cars have some reallllly potent engines...so calm down Thlam, and they do sound good, hell, if you don't want a small block chevy, come listen to viper V10, and a new one, that roars, absolutely bellows from it's depths...ROAR!!!! American racing, Corvette's twin-peat al LeMans that got interrupted this year, and we all know about Ford's spanking of LeMans for 4 years...hahaha...anyways...
Japanesse cars are absolutely insane, 1350 horsepower skylines, seen 'em, nobody doubts 'em...and they were damn good race cars...the HKS EVO 8 can have up to 600 horsepower from a 4 banger...given, it's expensive as hell, but it's nuts, and impressive, the Japanesse are just getting into bigtime racing in Europe...so, give them time...
Europeans!!!! Ahhhh...now it is your time, you guys have had GODKNOWSHOWMANYRACINGWINSINHISTORYSODON' TBOTHERMEWITHIT!!!!! hehehe...you guys have, Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Mercedes, BMW, McLaren, etc...those are the biggest dogs of them all, however....you (it seems from my readings on this site) prefer track contests to determine the best cars...Put a race prepped Camaro onto a track with a GT3, and a Skyline, that GT3 doesn't stand a ****ing chance...the Camaro never runs out of torque, with the $80,000 that you saved on the Camaro you could have a 600 horsepower Corvette C5-R killer, and you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT say a GT3 can outgun a C5-R, anyways...The main problem with the European cars is that they're expensive as hell, if they were affordable Porsche would never have had to make an SUV. Ford sells a 390 horsepower, same as the GT3, 390 lbs/ft of torque, oops, a 100lbs/ft more than a GT3, and sells it for 30% of the GT3's price, and there's only gonna be about 5000 of them...so, exclusivity is a major factor in European sports cars...yes, paying that much is worth it, but as far as plain ol' performance goes...Cobra versus GT3...($38,000 versus $99,000)
Damn, that's a long ****ing post...aiiight...I'ma go drink some coffee's, and PLEASE don't get all pissy at me...it's just a convo... :D :D

European cars are indeed pricey, my friend...
But you always get what you pay for.

Hells yes they are, though my dad and I both agreed on one thing at the NY auto show...
Aside from the one car we both wanted for day to day being an Aston-Martin V12 Vanquish, we noticed...
At the Porsche section, they had a 2003 911 (996) Twin-Turbo...retailed for, i believe, $117,000 U.S. dollars...It had a $5000 option of metallic paint, now, we both agreed that for that price you should GET the metallic paint with the price...I mean, that's ALOT of scratch for a car...
Also, I'm trying to convince my parents to sell their house, it'd go for about $525,000 in the U.S. Which is enough for an S7....hehehehehehehehehe
(they're not gonna)

steam engines and rotary engines ARE NOT THE SAME
& yes u think everything that isnt japan made sucks
v8's even benz compared to ... LEXUS? wtf
thats pathetic i would take a brabus benz over hks (which isnt only devoted to toyota)
you can turbo a 4 banger all u want, nothing beats the sound and the smoothness of a 7.3 v12 (1 thats in a pagani c12s)

thomas savery invented the steam engine and look on that maazda link on top its an official site.
the IS30 is actually 37K and buying a 215hp car when itis 1K less then a 168hp C240 that is 38K is pretty much better, in this case buying the C240 would be a waste of money

and actually the is300 is a pretty old car, 4 years? while the c240 is pretty new, you'd expect lexus to add some porformance mods, even a manual version of this car came out 2 years later when this car was first introduced here in the US.
i think europe and japan has the better Altezza model

wow this thread is up tight.....
one thing people need to understand here is that we all are car enthusist.
whether it be dodge, ford, honda, nissan, toyota, bmw, benz, jag, or something else. we all share one common bond.
we all love cars.
fighting over which is better is somthing you do in the comparo thread.
plus if you say you love ford but hate mazda you dont know that ford owns mazda.
chrysler owns part of benz.
anyway.
certain companies do certain things better.
dont be so shallow to say that you only like hondas.
cause their are alot of things that are just as good.
i dont want a civil war to happen here people.

But: I love jaguar and aston martin but hate ford.... dont leap up and say 'BUT FORD OWNS ASTON AND JAG', just because astons and jags are owned by ford, doesn't mean you have to like all or none, another example, i love the seattle seahawks, but they are owned by paul allen and i think he is a rich snob, so explain that to me ok?
