You know what? I think this Viper will aactually be totally worth what you would pay for it. So now America has the Corvette AND the Viper to compete on many levels world wide. Oooooh, two whole main stream compitent production cars! Sorry, I don't mean to be a jackass. I'm very glad that these cars are out there and hope more goodness is on the way. I mean, if you take a Ford GT, this new SRT-10 Viper, and a Z06 Corvette, there's a lot of cars they will beat in pure speed, if not handling, and are priced in a very fair range.

yeah the new dodge viper srt-10 can compaire to the supercars of the world,
but the old vipers did just the same, in there days ( almost 10 years ago  )
they really competed with the best, if a Dodge Viper Rt-10 or dodge viper gts-coupe dragraced against a ferrari f40 or lamborghini diablo roadster sv, the dodge viper wins for sure

An F40 against a Viper? A very even match. How can you possibly say that the Viper would win for sure? If it was any Viper but the new SRT-10, the Ferrari, or Lamborghini would destroy it.

A new topic only for a Vipers' specs :? .... ? Well, anyway, it has 500HP, that's the correct number, the only Vipers with 400HP were the old, first ones, i believe they kept their 400HP engines 'till '93....
10 years ago? in a dragrace? RT-10 would win for sure
no doubt on that one
You've got to be kidding me :? ! You really believe so? Well, i can tell you, it's not true. Around then, the RT/10 still had 400HP.... Even in a dragrace, the Viper would lose.

WTF, it would lose of Ferrari in Dragrace
No way, Dodge Vipers are Muscle Cars, They build for Dragraces, and they loose of race car in Dragrace

Just because it's a muscle car doesn't have to mean it'll beat everything else in drag races. Remember, it wheighs over 1500KG's, has 400HP and is less aerodynamic as the F40.... How could it possibly win?
F1356WRCRS
Oct 24, 2003, 4:18 PM
In the hands of a very talented driver, maybe.
Dutchmarshall
Oct 24, 2003, 4:26 PM
look if they building a good muscle car, why dont they make sure they beat all normal race cars on that moment, in dragracing :?

Imagine: You've started a new marquee and your first models' goal is to get a very fast 0-400m time.... Would you be sure to succeed? I think not! I want to as well, can i do it? No. By the way, if you think the Viper is the fastest ( 400hp models ), then why's a Bugatti Veyron 16/4 faster?
Dutchmarshall
Oct 28, 2003, 4:46 AM
i know, but if i infented Dodge Viper, i would make sure they will beat most of the cars in there days 8)
DarkVenom666
Oct 28, 2003, 11:42 AM
Yes, just like you said, most cars, but not all. The Vipers are able to beat much others, but not nearly all. And that is just what i was trying to make clear  .

2 things:
1. How much torque and horsepower?
Power: 500 HP (SAE) :D
Torque: 525 lb/ft :D
How come you don't know these specs? I know them since three or four months ago!
As far as I know, the "old" Vipers featured 460 HP. That's enough to take on a F40 and to completely bust a F355.
The Vipers are also respected and feared in the racing world since they won Le Mans 24 Hours three consecutive times!... from 1998 to 2000. But do you want to know which car won 2001 and 2002 editions? The Corvette C5R!
Dodge's idea is to return to Le Mans next year and to win it of course in association with French Oreca Racing Team.
Here's info about the Viper Competition Coupe:

Do you think they'll enter Le Mans with the Competition Coupe :? !?! That car was meant for proffesional and semi-proffesional drivers, yes, but not for championchips like that! If they'll enter Le Mans next year, they'll first have to show and new GTS-R to the crowd, the Competition Coupe is not meant nor suiteble for challenges like Le Mans.... And as far as i know, the GTS is the GTS-R's 'street model' and as the new GTS will most likely be released in '05-'06, they won't be able to enter Le Mans before that.... But as i said before: 'As far as i know', i could be wrong about all of this  ....

Well Dark Venom you're probably right... It's only a supposition of mine. Now that you talk about it, is more logical to think that Dodge will wait for the release of the GTS version. So, no plans for Le mans over the next two years unless further declarations... Just one thing, the GTS is not a street version of the GTS-R. It's backwards, the GTS-R is the competition legal GTS version.
When the GTS Coupé was released in 1996, Team Oreca saw in it the potential of a champion... and equally Dodge. So, they worked together and the GTS-R version was born. In 1999, in order to commemorate the victories at Le Mans, Dodge made a special edition, the GTS-R GT2, for the public. The original GTS-R was only available for professional competition. As you can see, the extreme racing versions always take as base the "standard" one. Just look at the Mercedes C-Class and it's racing derived, the CLK-DTM.

Yes, i know, but i didn't meant it like the way you understood, i think ( sorry, i can't explain things that well in English... ). Maybe this is a bit more clear: When a car enters Le Mans ( GTS class, in this case. ), it needs a street-legal version ( Dodge Viper GTS ), so it is allowed to participate. That's what i meant, i just put in in an other way....

Yes, yes, i know! Remember, i'm a Viper fan, just like you; How can i not know  !?!
BTW, i'm glad i was able to persuade you :) ! I to would think Dodge would enter Le Mans as soon as possible, but that isn't for sure, when you really think about it.... You still could be right, though ( i'm actually crossing my fingers for you to be right! i'd love to see the new GTS-R in action! ) !

Oh, now I get it. You're talking about the homologation or approval. To race in Le Mans GTS Class you need to sell at least 50 units of the model that is pretended to be entered in the competition. Im'n not very sure about if it's 50 actually... but last time I saw that was the required number.
I misunderstood you because of the way you wrote it but anyways sorry :)
