No your proberly not the only one who hates them..
I love Italian cars and i DON"T LIKE French cars..
You can Join the Club of people who "HATES"Italians but proberly can give ANY arguments either. :S:S
If you just don't like their way of desining or something it's quite strange you HATE them :S
Anyway i think it's very strange you open a new topic to ask or there more people who don't like them :S
Can't this topic be closed?

You would understand if you were familiar with the french language.
Anyway, I dislike both italian and french cars. French are slightly better in terms of reliability and quality.
Although I should admit that both countries have some nice-looking models. Just design-wise.

i dont thi8nk you can put french and italian cars in the same bracket...
italians build cars that are simply cool - french build cars to compete with ford...
(obvioulsy with a few exceptions Venturi and Fiat maybe)

Renault , Peugeot and Citroen are really good companies with really good, reliable and amazing look cars...I dont have anything else to say.Just look who has won the most championships in WRC...or even in F1, French are really impressive..

i do not like the new renaults like the megane and i do not like a lot of italian cars because they are stragely designed like the Fiat multipla, but if i can pick a worser contry i would have to say Italy. Italian car companies always try out new designs that are not attractive sometimes
Schumi
Oct 24, 2003, 8:39 PM
You gave an example which is so ...ONE...Only this Multipla is ugly...The other Italians(or most of them)are really beautiful...I think the most beautiful cars all over the world...But indeed Multipla sucks...Even on this 1.6lt engine...The Multipla have 12secs 0-100km/h

Hey Jim.. I can't hear this mannnnnn!
Look to the stats and Read EVERY magazine , Watch EVERY TV programm. Renault is at the moment VERY unreliable.. Alfa is WAy more reliable..
It's so f*cking strange why you guys only look to the name and don't look any further..
We here have a Test in Holland.. mopre than 23.000 People tested cars..
You know what the places were?
1. Subaru
2. Lexus
3. Skoda
4. Toyota
5. Honda
6. BMW
7. Audi
8. Alfa Romeo.
I can hear u say ? Ohh here u see at 8th place ... YEAH AGAIN .. you look at what u see but don't watch ANY further!
CAn u image how Many CAr manufactures are Worser than Alfa?
Shall a tell u a few?
ok
FRENCH ------> RENAULT at place 26
FORD----> place 27 <- German
Volkswagen<---- place 28!!!! <---German
Opel <--------- German
Mitsubishi <---- EVEN JAPANESE!!!!
So i think it's not very good if u say things like that Jim . i KNOW u really wrong!
An Italian Is not more unreliable than a German or a English or a French car :S
And if u gonna start to say : Yeah but the Italian Have ALWAYS Electronical trouble...
I can tell u Renault Has ALOT more!! U know i worked by a Garage.. from Nissan/Renault there came ALOT of people with problems .. ALmost EVERYONE had electronical troubles especially the new cars!
And i can tell u ... Alfa roMEO uses Bosch Electronics and guess what ? Yes that's GERMAN!!!!
So what the f*ck Everyone keep in mind If an Alfa has trouble or is broken they say : Here u see AGAIN a Alfa! , But that's SOOO UNFAIR!. cause they are even or maybe more VOkswagen who broke down.... but oooohh nobody does regonize that...
Pff UNFAIR..
Oh Our Alfa 155 1.8 8v NORD block from 1992... STILL got NO troubles over 215.000KM. on the clock ;)
Hey and Guess what? yes the Original exhaust is even UNDER it!
NEVER electronical trouble's we have the lusso version and yes.. much more luxury than a german or japanse than from 1992.
Electric Mirror's electric heaten mirror.s
Electric window's press one time go whole the way down.
etc..
ALfa is GOOD! .. But cause people are telling things wrong like u did now JIm , who only think ohh Alfa = Italian = unreliable. SO UNTRUE!! people like u give Him a Bad name! What's really NOT right!! and VERY unfiar if u ask me.!!
ALFA ROMEO POWER!!

Im with Alfa now,
Alfa is more reliable then renault,
but renault is more city car, its not for long distance
Alfa is a luxery car, its for bussiness man and stuff, so it has to be more reliable, and its much better on lon distance
But lol, Alfa is below SKODA :P
( i really never thought that could happen :P )
And not all cars are in it, i dont see and ferraris, dodges or lambos
if they were in it probably the top 20 will be owned by the sportscars :D

you can say that about any major car company but the french definetly arent leaders in reliability. And if you ask your average joe on the street he aint going to say that french make particularly good looking cars.
Also the french dont hold any records of winning in F1 - theyve never won an F1 championship.
AND altough citreon has been successful in WRC, that really doesnt have anything to do with the cars you buy!
All in all i dont hate french cars ( i own one!) but they arent anything amazing, and they definetly arent in general better than italians...

dude, why do you guys always have to playa hate. what is wrong with the names of the french cars. they name them how the want to name them, ace. if you don;t like it why don't you rename them to be like...the freedom cars instead of the french cars. for some reason that sounds very familliar. don't be hatin' the french.

I'm french and I'd like to say something...
First : it's not possible to compare french cars to american cars. It's not the same way of thinking in France as in America and not the same way of life too ! In France, fuel is very expansive, and the government creates every day new taxes ! That's why you won't see a French Automaker design a V12 6L engine ! I know that it's a pity (some french cars-constructors are really able to do this, but they know it won't work...).
Second : even if they don't sell "dream-cars" such as Ferrari or Porsche, just have a look to the WRC, the F1, and Rally-Raid Championship (Dakar...) ! Renault, Peugeot, Citroën (those names are as stupid to you as Chrysler or General Motor are to me....) are not often the worse...
Third : even if you don't like French cars, you have to realize that the brands you dislike are often sources of inspiration for all of the others ! The Citroën DS for example : it had 20 years of advance on the others !
And I'd like to give my opinion : saying "I don't like this-country cars" is the most stupid thing i've read today ! There are everywhere good things and bad things !
Sure that a Citroën Saxo is not the best car of the Universe, but I don't think that a Saturn SC1 or a Toyota Duet are a lot more enthusiastic !
(sorry if my english is not perfect, I try to improve it...)

HE IS WAAAAAAAAAY RIGHT!!!!
You cant say that French cars arent good.Even on reliability..
French cars are so damn good..Even Saxo that our new friend said or even Clio are good...A friend of mine have the old Clio and he never had any problems with the engine or electronic probs. And as I said look at those f****ing championships...Japan couldnt reach French technology and car knowledge...Even Subaru which a very good company and produce very good cars cant reach the Peugoet and Citroen in the WRC...Did you see what happened today on Catalunya rally???Where the f**k are the Japanese???Or Germans or even my LOVES Italians?????
Nowhere...Do you wanna see the results of todays rally??

2.Ford

hehe..
Scumi i worked by an Renault garage/dealer.. as an Helping mechanic.. not full cause i'm still studying you see..
So but there it really RAINED complaines about NEW renaults. cause they have alot of Electrical problems... but especcialy with their NEW cars.
I must say i prefer Peugeot indeed WAY above Renault.. and i don't know or Peugeot have troubles either , but Renault really have's
And my friend did drive an old Renault Clio 1.8 16v.. indeed an 18 year old guy.. but that's me to.. in a Alfa.. my ALfa is still 100% good.
His car is already in the Junkyard ;)
He blew up his engine when he only put the throttly position to full he was just by 4.000RPM..
So.... i don't know.. but i don't believe anymore in the reliabilty of Renault..
Your right i don't know how it is at the Peugeot's ;)
But Renault is Bad at the moment! ;)

L  L, im really wondering how they come up with those names :?
renault, what where they thinking then?
and peugeot, strange names, look like pokemon names to me
Renault from Louis Renault
Citröen from André Citröen
Peugeot from Armand Peugeot
As you can see, the names of the three most important French companies aren't, by no means, invented. They take the surname of their founders, who are as important as Ferdinand Porsche or Ettore Bugatti for the automobile history.
For example, who promoted the Frontal Traction? André Citröen.
French constructors deserve respect for what they have done. Renault has never won an F1 title as an integral team but their engines sure did it when Williams decided to use them.
Peugeot and Citröen have proven that they are strong WRC competitors. They have even beaten our beloved Impreza.
The French engineers are more concentrated on making cars for the family but not for this they are bad as car makers. The only French constructor that can be claimed as a real sportcar manufacturer is Venturi.
That's all for France.
Italian cars are equally good. Alfas from 155 to 166 are beautiful design and engineering pieces. And don't forget that Italians make (and have made) some of the best supercars of the world.

DTM is a great racing league but as Capitan Lento said only german cars are allowed now. It should be nice that they permitted again other countries' makes.

Well, DTM history is quite complicated. In 1996 it became the ITC (International Touring Championship) Many companies participated in this category while it existed, even Nissan. But the Germans felt like they were losing autonomy and they reorganised DTM for 2001. ITC was later renamed ETCC (European Car Touring Championship) and its first season staerd in 2001 too. However, the original ETCC dates back from 1965 and it kept like that until 1988. Abarth and Alfa Romeo won several times the manufacturers title during these years.

I think Fiat's are NORMALL cars which have to be SALED ALOT!!!
It's not a SUPER designed ... Sporting car like a Alfa or something is..
It's a car like a VW POlo well i don't think you can say that car is so beautifull?
And i think Fiat just have to sell car , happy looking cars for girl how get to the store's
Polo , Seicento etc..
But if we gonna compare i think Fiat make BETTER and more beautifull cars than Volkswagen..
But anyway like i said alot before... Schumi is REALLY right here guys! Why oh why don't u believe it? :(
The older Fiat's were indeed Bad quality cars and were quite unreliable , well that's totally over!
The Fiat's From 1995 and younger are GOOD! my mom drove a Fiat Chinquecento from 1994 i thought and she NEVER had problems with the car! NEVER! she drive's EVERY day 80kms to her work ;)
But Fiat have to problem the can't lose their name :?
I think that's really dissapointed for a company that have quite big financial troubles !
And i can tell you,,..... You don't wanna know how FAST a Fiat Coupe 2.0 20v Turbo Plus is? :) a VERY nice and GOOD car to me! looking good to!

Dont even take the fastest FIAT for these years.Take a smaller one.You have to look the comparison between Toyota Celica 1.8 VVT-i(not the T-Sport) and the Punto HGT and see who will win.Not only in 0-100 or top speed but in better handling, steering.I am not talking about the quality because I dont about the quality of this Celica. As about FIAT's.When my mom bought that Punto in 2000 I thought that this will be a crap. But its not.We have it for 3-4 years now and 70000km in it.And NO and I mean NO problems.Technical, Electronical, Mechanical. Absolutely NO problems.
Except one.I hit the door once with my hand and the window inside broke.Actually not the window, the mechanism in it. :P

Not true, Fiat owns alot, but a bank called Mediabanco or something owns a portion now.
Plus the Ferrari family still owns like 10%. And as I said Ferrari and Maserati are not controlled by Fiat at all, Fiat lets them take care care of themselves. Which is good.
