Well, this is a topic of reconcilation for me and bimmer, i like them, a lot, but i dont really think their prices (US) are fair, too high for not that much, not the very ultimate driving machine, maybe one of the ultimate, but not the very very very ultimate, at least not in every class.

Even then, i drove an M3 Cabrio (333hp US specs) and it's great, the bad part is that i had to use a suit  anyway, back to the point, great car, great handling and lovely interior, ride is too harsh, but you get your reward.

Then i went a step ahead for a test drive on a used 850Ci (i'll get some pics up tomorrow if i can find a decent server), and i put my hands down in smoothness. The car is not that powerful, but still very crisp and entertaining, the brakes are very strong, and the ride quality is like a lexus but with a real steering feel and response.

Anyway, the pricetag is exotic, it's 70k (US$), so that is a no no for me, but i have to accept that bimmers are great, just toooooo overliked by some people.

On a side note, i saw at that site jimmk posted in another thread a lot of info on series 8, and it's awesome, even 4 whell steering to match lane change maneuvers with a 911 turbo. Impressive

I think you are wrong with that, lane change maneuvers at 850CSi are said to be faster than a 911 turbo (from the same time i guess), so the slalom is better, i guess it's handling is on par with M5.

The 850Ci i drove was so crisp i forgot it was that big, it really feels smaller than it is

well jim the car did have limited leg room in the rear, it used a lot of fuel and it was a very very heavy car, and it had a really ugly interior also. Thats why it had horrible sales, and the funniest thing some people relise aobut this car is that it looks like an oversized toyota supra lol

1. Who cares about leg room in the rear... :?
2. Ok about the fuel, but that happens with all the V12 engines.
3. It hasn't got an ugly interior!! Remember it came out almost 10 years ago.

And it had horrible sales because it was limited production and very expensive.

BMW marketed this car as a sports coupe not a sports car therefore it was supposte to be a comfy car that can perform, which it was not. and the inteiror was ugly even the 97 models, an expensive car should not have an interior that is on par with a chevy cavalier. and the exterior design OVERSIZED toyota supra!. this car is not perfect and ceratinly not what one would expect from BMW. Limited produciton and expensive should not go in the same sentence. around 1992 the Ferrari 456 came out, it was more expensive then the BMW but why did it sell better when both cars were bascially well equipped and were going against the same target audience? because it was a better car!

Ugly Interior, wtf, it's not moder interior or anything, but it's not ugly, the seats are very nice, very comfy, the space in the front is exceptional, and the dash and stuff look fine, doesnot look from 1989 as it should, it is a very good car for me

And Cavalier???? WFT are you talking about

here is a better picutre of the nissans interior, it may not look great but its better then the 8series' interior. the inteiror of the 8 series does not flow like the one on the nissan like the AC vents that make a square shape that just ruins the interior of they had made the interior one piece then the 850 would have had a great interior
