Oh my God!
Cool Camaro but I think is quite exceeded. Japanese cars are more suitable for this extreme body works. And, what about the performance?

The car looks like the Fast and the Furious eclipse. The paint job is not right for the car. He has take of the spoiler..

i'm sure a Z/28 has some grunt. But yeah, that looks exactly like the eclipse from fast and furious. And it is very over done. Very strange.

none

So, do you mean that is just an oversized Camaro that has no mechanical, real-deal tuning?
This reminds me of a memorable quote from jimkk: "a true show-off but no-go"... or something like that :P

I think you meant, "all show and no go"

which is my feeling on that ugly-ass camaro...don't get me wrong, hell, I almost bought a Z28, but that color, and the fact that none of that money was spent on that V8 pisses me off..

Did you just call me a poser, or worse yet a ricer??? If not, better say something...

Anyways...I almost bought a 1998 Camaro Z28,black, 5 speed? or were they 6 in 98??? Anyways...It's strange, if I had listened to my dad and not gotten my Ford Probe the previous winter, I would've had enough for the Z28, which, irks me everyday, because it's right around the corner...But it wasn't for sale until recently...goddamn...either way, I still like my car... 8)

This seems to be the trend with alot of domestics these days. I tend to see alot more Mustangs, Camaros, etc. with huge spoilers which server no purpose at all except add weight to the car.

Ok, a while ago someone asked for stats on this car.

Engine: LT1 V-8 (same engine used in the corvette of the time)
Horsepower: 275
Torque: 325 ft.lbs. (i think)
0-60 performance: 5.3 seconds
1/4 mile time: 14 seconds flat
Top speed (govener limited): 108mph. But has been clocked at 150 with the govner off.
Price: about $19,000

Just for giggles, this is the performance of the Skyline GT-R R34
Horsepower: 276
Torque:216ft. lbs.
0-60 performance: 5.2 seconds
1/4 mile time: i think probaly really high 13's
Top speed: 155mph
Price: $89,500

(stats for the skyline from www.rsportscars.com)

Raith83
Nov 20, 2003, 2:51 PM
What your paying for it high end engineering and super build quality. Consider this; The GT-R 34's engine displacement is 126 cubic inches while the LS1 V-8 has 350! Thats very close to three times the displacement! Somehow they managed to get less horse power and merrely 109 more lb-ft of torque. See? Another example of of Japanese high quality engineering vs. cheap, American, low quality engineering. Factor in that the handling of a GT-R 35 is in another dimension compared to the Camaro and the prices are well justified. Resale value = solid build quality, you should also consider how fast the Camaro loses this value comapred to the Skyline....

(oh, there was a top speed given of 155 mhp for the Skyline and I was wondering what it's top speed was with the govener off :P just to be fair)

Mopar68
Nov 20, 2003, 3:09 PM
i'm not saying the skyline isn't worth it. I'm just stating that it has almost the same performance as the Z/28. Note: the sklyine also has alot of help from it's twin turbos.

Raith83
Nov 20, 2003, 5:11 PM
I did it again! sorry, I tend to ovveract if you haven't noticed. Yeah, twin turbo definitly is its saving grace. It's barely faster than the Z/28 and costs just below five times as much. There's just so much more than 0-60 times and straightline performance when I consider the value of a car though. You're paying the 19k for brute power from an engine that could be much better, lcheaper materials, a body with more twist than a comparatively shoddy build quality. You could say a carboard box and four wheels with a 3 cylinder engine that has 2 second 0-60s and costs $5 and say it's funny because it costs like 140k for a Lingenfelter Vette that has barely faster times in much the same manner. :?

Wow! I just did it again after apologizing for it! I think I'm gonna change my screen name to "Chemically_Imbalanced83"

Mopar68
Nov 21, 2003, 8:54 PM
a cardboard box that can stay together going 60 is amazing. I wish i had this cardboard box that could do 0-60 in 2 seconds. I'd glady pay the $5.

The car shown has an LT1 not LS1. The Camaro is not a sports car like the Skyline. It's like comparing apples and oranges. To be fair lets compare the LT1 Vette to the Skyline...

Vette:

Engine: LT1 V-8
Horsepower: 300
Torque: 340 ft.lbs.
0-60 performance: Less than 5 secs
1/4 mile time: Mid 13s
Top speed: 170+
Price: Cheap

Not to mention many other factors not included...

ok R34 Skyline GTR has:

2.6L inline 6-turbocharged
327Hp
293 lb-ft of torque
0-60 in 4.7
1/4 mile 13.7
top speed probebly 165+ (limited to 155mph)
pretty even somewhat, but i'l still go with the skyline

Max Powers

It would look better without that huge ugly spoiler, if you want a aftermarket spoiler the Wings West Commando spoiler would look ok with that body package.

Could have a low 12 car with the money spent on the body though.

The point I was trying to make was you don't need to spend an arm and a leg(unlike the one you pointed out) for a decent car and the LT1 does not suck.

Yeah and there's a lot more you can get out of a V8 than an inline-6...

Hey, if American cars were up near Japanese and European hp/liter ratios, which can be done pretty easily, the skyline's, and porsche's of the world would be sucking at our TEET...hehe...imagine, a stock, 5.7 liter "ls7"(imaginary) with 570 horsepower...STOCK...for a little over 40 grand...
Yup, TEET'S INDEED....

I just like saying "teet"...hahah 8)

Aiiiight, I really didn't have a really good idea of price, but still 60-75 grand aint that bad for 550 horsepower, and of course, twin stripes on the road whenever you shift!!

most definitely, then again you could get a 300 hp V8 car for like 20,000 and then supe it up urself for a like another 20-25,000!

You could get a used 99 Vette for 22k about 350hp and for 6k have a easy 480 hp ride.
Total about 28,000 or more depending how far you wanted to go with it.
