Le Mans 2005 is coming up on the 17th-18th of June and i just wondered who people want to win, who people will do well etc. so basically i want the Astons to beat the Corvettes (its a British thing), i think the audis will do worse this year because their car is the modified version of last years. the GT class is always fun to watch, but you can never tell which is which.
but yeah i can't wait to find out who wins. my dads going down on thrusday to see it, so its all good :D

The Acemco S7R is going to beat the Aston's and the Vettes this year in GT1. It set a GT1 fastest lap record last year, and it's running on better tires this year. Besides, the S7R is built for the Mulsanne strait. LeMans is way more suited to the S7R than any of the circuits in ALMS. I would like to see the S7R run with some factoy support one of these days though, then they'd put a good spanking on the C6R's

for me here is who I want to see win:
LMP1: I want the Champion Audi R8's to win I think they have a good shot at it if they dont get into trouble like they did last year the team seems very well prepared and I think they can take it
LMP2: Lola Judd I think they are just really cool cars and I want to see them take it
GT1: C6-R they just look blistering fast if you look at sebring before the mechanical probs they were killing the astons and I think they have got those bugs worked out but I want to see how the Astons do against them also but Ferrari should be no threat this year
GT2: White Lightining Porsche I have liked the team for awhile now and they seem really quick around Le Mans I think that they will defend their title but in this catagory I just want to see Porsche Dominace really espcially against Ferrari 360's

The C6-R's ran away and hid from the Saleens at Rd ATL this spring. If they don't break, they will have time for a wax job before the checker. If they do break, they will have lots of garage time saved up for repairs.

Well, I guess the R8 will kick ass again.

Le Mans has been my favorite race for as long as I can remember. And that's long...
My picks :
P1 and Overall : Champion Audi R8. They're long overdue.
P2 : one of the official Courage cars
GT1 : very tough choice - either Aston DBR9 or Corvette C6-R. Others don't stand a chance.
GT2 : Porsches, either White Lightning #90 with their superstar trio of drivers or Alex Job entry #71 with Rockenfeller and Lieb but gentleman racer Leo Hindery will be their Achille heel. He will erase the progress the other two have made. Too bad... Panoz are fast this year but not for 24 hrs....

the Audi will probably be slower than before because its the old car modified.

I'm aware of that but they're so reliable over a 24 hrs. period...;)

My slogan for ALMS is: Which Audi LMP will win? The suspense is killing me.
The 3-time GTS class LeMans winning Vettes have tested little. Why mess with success?

Audi wins (yawn)! Chistiansen wins his 7th (record) and 6th straight Le Mans. This is the first American based team to win since 1967, when Dan Gurney invented the champaign shower.
The Corvettes won GT1 (5th and 6th overall) by sheer endurance. The Astons were faster, but had driver overheating problems (Lucas A/C?) Saturday and engine overheating near the end. They held a 1 lap lead at the 18 hour mark. At 21 hours, they were 1 lap down. 22 hours, 2 laps. The #58 Aston was a dnf, believed to be out of fuel. The #59 car stayed in the pits for a long time before driving a last lap to finish 9th overall, down 16 laps.

AARRGGH, how frustrating, I passed Le Mans, I heared the cars roar down the track, but I wasn't able to see them:( Hopefully next year I will see them...

It didn't take a genius to pick Champion Audi. It did take an astute observer to pick the first 2 GT2 Porsches. Kudos to ya. I was pulling for the lowbuck Flying Lizard team.

I saw very little TV coverage of the GT1 drama that I saw played out on live timing.

Thanks. Go to GENERAL forum then in the "Your model cars" thread and post #22. Look at the 5th picture and you'll see that I have a thing with GT Porsches. I've been following their racing very closely for many years so I know the good teams...:)
