TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH

Even though I'm in a laughing mood, I'm not laughing... all someone did is take an actual commercial and put "bebebum" voice over on it... lame sorry my opinion...

Do you get Hot Rod magazine? Because if you do, you'd know they comapred an Impreza WRX STi with a Mustang Cobra and the team was split 50/50 on which was the best car. The WRX has the faster stock times, is less expensive, has better gas milage, and handles 50 billion times better than the 'Stang. It even carries more people. Muscle cars ruled when they were in their prime, now they cannot hope to keep up with the high tech, high quality engineering from Japan and Europe. (the "new" muscle cars are what I'm reffering to)

That's cause they come with those shitty stock tires. Put on some real tires and it would blow the poor little suburu off the road.

Dude you're awefully misinformed. It's not the tyres that make the difference, it's the handling, the set up, the brakes, the engine, the gearbox, AWD, aerodynamics, EVERYTHING!

Okay, so tires would give the Cobra a LITTLE better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, but it would still not NEARLY in ANY capacity make up for the handling. Shows what an excellent deal the already less expensive STi is because with the Cobra you'd have to get new tires on top of the price and more money for gas

Thlam
Dec 04, 2003, 10:02 PM
lol i'll agree to that. The STi a car thats very tough to beat

teammobot
Dec 05, 2003, 7:16 PM
Did you even read the article? The Sti only beat the Cobra by one second... Not bad for a car not meant to do that.

If you saw the TV show they said the Cobra actually handled better.

Go fig.

You have to line them up side by side. A 4 door car with a little buzzy engine and skinny tires next to a the roar and whine of a blown V8. Anyone with anything dangling between their legs would choose the Cobra.

Thlam
Dec 05, 2003, 8:17 PM
teambot don't go around trying to piss people off, it only makes things more complicated. and 17" tires on the STi are not "Skinny". The SUbaru impreza may not have been made to drag but it was made to handle like a rally car, thats exactly what it does

teammobot
Dec 05, 2003, 8:19 PM
I'm not trying to piss people off. If they do then that is their problem and need help.

The tires on the WRX are not 17" wide. LOL

Thlam
Dec 05, 2003, 8:58 PM
they are 17 inch tires and 7.5 inches wide, the mustang cobra has 9 inch wide tires not a big difference if the STi can sitll beat a Cobra in a race

Dec 05, 2003, 10:07 PM
Teambot, I know that you think muscle cars are "godly" and "manly". Yeah.. whatever. The only people I see driving mustangs are chicks. BTW.. do you know what the STI was designed for? RALLYING. Do you want to race your big "manly" gas guzzling hunk of metal on a rally course against a car that was made for it? And who friggin cares how wide the tires are.. ok.. this may sound weird but Ill make the comparison with bikes. Notice how all touring bikes have really skinny tires? it doesn't effect the handling at all.. It just makes it lighter and faster. Just try racing a touring bike with a fat tired bike. The tires are wider because its got like 2 tons of weight to support on that friggin hunk of low quality metal. Anyway, the point is, STI = 30k Cobra = 50k. STI won and it wasn't even designed for street racing and its 20k cheaper. Put a real Garett turbo with 20 psi and the Mustang would lose its reputation as a muscle car. Now please stop ticking people off. BTW, last time I checked.. I still have somethin danglin between my legs. (I drive a Prelude)

jimkk29
Dec 06, 2003, 10:31 AM
I totally agree with Thlam and Attaus on this one. If you had 17" wide tyres, the car wouldn't turn, it would only go straight. Please quit that "straigh-line performance is the most important" stupid thinking.

"only" one second? that's pretty good, most comparisons i've seend have like .2 or .4 second difference

haha.. that was funny... puts Civics in there place.... a car that is way over rated (except the SiR/Type R). Dunno why ppl spend some much money on an Econ Box.
And putting the Type R sticker on when its not a Typer R

or putting on the Vtec sign everywhere, thinking its magic or some ****.
