Just curious, I had a '70 Chevelle SS a few years back. LS5 454, 4-speed, 4:11 gears. Miss that car.

 Damn that's a fine ride man
although i can only think a few logical reasons why u didn't keep it,
1.Couldn't afford to keep it
2. Not practical
or 3. well, actually i really don't know...maybe u just wanted to keep up with the times and buy a new car, a lot of people sell their cars w/o thinkin about the potential they might have in a couple decades, lol. I had an great aunt that owned a '64 1/2 White mustang with a red interior, i don't like fords but god what a nice car....then she sold it for really cheap (like about $8k) after she decided she didn't want to drive anymore....and it was completely stock and mint condition all around *sniffle*
Oh, and i love muscle cars!

i sold it for money to use towards college, now I wish I still had it. I still have a muscle car, a 2000 Camaro SS with lots of bolt-on upgrades. Just gets better mileage with 6 gears lol.

I like old muscle cars. I'm not thrilled about them, but I wouldn't mind one. It would be cool.

I'd say my favotire muscle cars would be the twin Plymouth Hemi-Cuda's and the Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi's. These two cars are like in the top ten(if not, top five) best muscle cars....ever! I'd say they beat the Nova, hands down. (the 440 magnums were hella tight as well)

Cool guys, my fav is the '69 COPO Camaro. All aluminum 427....ULTRA rare and worth about $200,000 now. Not to mention high 11 sec 1/4 mile times!

only 69 copo's were made, and they are worth about 1/4 of a million. My favorite muscle car is of course the 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T 440. Don't ask. Best muscle car from ford has to be the 1969 Boss 429. It's engine sounds holy. The best muscle car, in my opnion, from chevy is not a ultra rae copo car or ZL1 camaro. It's the 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS396. Brawny looks, great price, powerful engine and just an all around cool car.

I would say Chevy's best Muscle car is the the 66 Nova Supersport, I like it better then the later models by far. Best from Ford, while I do love the BOSS, I would say is the Mach 1 Mustang with the Cobra Jet 427, and best over all muscle car is the Oldsmobile 442, or the Plymouth Hemi Cuda. I cant wait for the 2005 Mustang to come out, its gonna be fast backs all over again! Oh the glory...

I don't think there will be a R, and even a new Cobra is YEARS away. The whole SVT program is going on hold do to quality issues for at least 18 months and the SVT Focus is being totally dropped. I just read that in the new Road & Track and online.

Well Mr. I hate the mustang! I just WATCHED on Car and Driver that they will be realesing ALL models of the 2005 Mustang within pretty damn close of each other (The base, the GT, and the SVT). Not only that, they will all be very close to the same price of the previous years. I dont know about the R however, and sence there hasnt been that much news of it coming back, I think we'll have to wait a while.

unfortunately I may have to follow your lead and sell my car to pay for school. i am trying to go g-machine pro touring with it now but big $$$. Already beat the fart pipers and rice boys so i am happy for now, but I need more power!! Best muslecar of All time would have to be well, anything from the sixties early 70's I like the Boss 429 in 69 and 70, all of the hemi models especially the weirder ones like dart, etc, but fav for me is the Nickey 68 SS camaro COPO. awesome car.

The COPO Nova was nothing to sneeze at exterior wise. I saw a copo nova on "american muscle" on the speed network. This canadian guy had it. It was really dull. It didn't have the fancy wheels like the 396 nova posted before. It had hubcaps. And it had a flat gray exterior. Infact, i don't think it even had any SS badging.
note: the post i made about the 69 Copo camaros was false. They only made 69 ZL1 camaros. Base price at the time: $7,249.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1 427cid 425hp@5600 460ft/lb@4600 13.16@110.21mph Hi Perf Cars 8/69
I understand they made 3.

The COPO was not only different in the engine and suspension, but it also had a special exterior badging as well. Barely noticeable, but I'm pretty sure it was there, although I could be wrong. The Yenko's aren't half bad either, a little more recognizable but everybit as strong, 450 hp or so. As far as my favorite car, it would have to be a Ram Air IV Firebird, but I got stuck with a 67 camaro SS\RS, so I'll just have to keep dreaming.

I love the old muscle.....
My Dad bought a 69 Charger, I think he said it had a 440 in it.... He bought it new in 1969 and paid 3k for it..... He used to take it to Thompson all the time in the 70's.....
He was telling me it had scoops in the hood that could be opened and closed from inside the car...... I would have liked to have seen it......
He also had a 78 silver aniv edition Corvette he won in a card game! He drove that for a year and sold it..... *******.
Mopar68
Mar 29, 2004, 2:37 PM
i'm pretty sure there were no scoops in the hood of a 69 charger. Maybe if he had a six pack, but i doubt they offered the ram air hoods with the charger. The only real special thing that the charger had in it's hood was the little reverse scoops that served as turn signal indicators.
MattMerce
Mar 29, 2004, 4:49 PM
it had vaccum opperated scoops but i don't think they came out until 70 or 71, i might be wrong on the year
Mopar68
Mar 29, 2004, 7:45 PM
yeah, i can believe the 70's chargers had hood scoops. Yeah, they had the six pack ram air thing. Kind of tasteless though. In my opnion, the chargers got really big and fat and ugly after 69.
MattMerce
Mar 30, 2004, 4:43 PM
definately, the 66-67 and 68-69 were great and intimidating, the 70s looked slow, and it wasn't even a true charger in the 80s

Speaking of old ford mustangs; did they drop the prototype Fastback Ford wanted to come out with? I went on the Ford website a while ago and it was on there. but apparently they recently took it off the site. Now that was a sweet car I wouldn't mind getting my hands on.

nice. i liked the older stangs look more than the new stuff, except for a saleen mustang i saw a couple years ago, the back end looked like some sort of a roadster, it was cool. but i must say that my favorite muscle cars are 68' Dodge Charger R/T Hemi, Dodge Demon, 67 Mustang Fastback.

I like the dodge muscle cars and sport cars. I heard the RAMs had some issues... Come to think of it, dodge had a lot of transmission problems or something on those lines.
MattMerce
Apr 05, 2004, 8:54 PM
their muscle cars were so powerful coming off the line that they had traction problems
Mopar68
Apr 05, 2004, 11:53 PM
well so did most cars of that era. They had such crappy tires back then.
TheCivicProject
Apr 06, 2004, 12:28 AM
Is it possible if you have a car with enough torque, it could rip the motor mounts right off and spin under the hood?
Mopar68
Apr 06, 2004, 3:20 PM
maybe if you had really weak motor mounts and very grippy tires and a very strong drivetrian. Maybe an engine from a coach bus could do that in a smaller application.
jimkk29
Apr 06, 2004, 6:20 PM
It would first totally melt your clutch. There are no such grippy tires anyway...
