Is there anybody else on this forum who has ever been in a sanctioned event like road racing, autocross, rallying, karting ?
I know that SSSSnake is doing track days but this is not real racing. Is there someone else ? I think it would be interesting to know.
And then if you tell me you're interested I could tell you what I've done over 20 years. If you really don't care I'll keep it for myself.;)

I've taken part in three different kinds of SCCA sanctioned competitions. I also do competitive open road racing. I've also done a couple of bracket racing events at the local drag strip.
I've done autocross. (Didn't care for it) Too much sitting around, not enough driving, don't really like the tight cone courses.
Rally cross (Loved it!) A lot more driving when compared with AutoX. Big, fun dirt courses, lots of sliding around the turns.
SCCA time trials (awesome!) Time trials are kind of like a track day event, in that there are lots of cars on the track at the same time, and you pass other cars. The difference is that each car has a transponder and you are scored on your fastest lap of the day. For me, it's a nice way to get competitive with less risk that somebody is going to "punt" my car off into the weeds constesting a corner. (Time trials take place on real race tracks, not autox courses.)
Open road racing (serious fun with very high "pucker factor") These are high speed, competitive "time-distance" events, where you pick a target speed and try to average as close as possible to that speed over the race distance. At the higher speed classes, it becomes quite challenging just to approximate your target speed. I'm heading to one of these events ( http://www.sorcrace.com/ ) next week. Can't wait.
As for track days, it's true that they aren't "sanctioned" events, but they can be just as competitive as any other type of event I've been to. (I've had some "duels" at track days that were very competitive, one of which lasted about a half hour, with lots of passes, lead changes, and driving right on the edge for both of us.)
I'd love to do some wheel to wheel racing, but I need a cheaper car to do it in. My Viper is just too expensive to repair if somebody slams into me. I also don't want to put in a full roll cage, which I'd probably want for full on racing. I've been browsing the "for sale" pages of the SCCA publications thinking about picking up a used race car that I would be willing to risk on the track in a wheel to wheel race.
And yes, we're interested in what you've been up to. (Post pics and video too if you've got them.)

i've been to many races :) and i've taken my car unofficially rallying. but no is the answer to your question, as i dont count karting as racing... its too simple and boring so i got bored of it.
However, within the year I could find myself on the race track with a team and car, but i'm not saying anymore yet incase it doesnt happen,
Crossle, dont keep it to yourself, lets hear it :D

OK, let's begin...
- My first event was a winter autocross in 1977, driving a Fiat 128. Won the non-studded class and ended up as champion after the season.
- Competed sporadically in autocross and regularity rallys up to 1984. Not enough money to do the state championships.
- Serious business began in 1984:
- Quebec Autocross class champion in 1984-1985 (Innocenti SL)- 1986 (Toyota MR2)- 1988 (Toyota Tercel) - 1989-1990 (Fiat X-1/9) - 1993 (Geo Storm) - 1994 (Audi Coupe)
- Quebec Autocross overall champion in 1985-1986-1988-1989-1993-1994
(all class winners competing one after the other on the SAME car)
(only driver to be overall champ more than once)
- Quebec Formula Ford class "B" champion in 1987-1988 (in a 1978 Crossle 32f)
(class B being for outboard suspension cars - less aerodynamic)
- Canadian and Quebec Formula Ford rookie of the year in 1987
- Quebec Road Racing rookie of the year in 1987
- Ice Racing in 1986 in the Renault Cup (all Renault 5's on studded tires)
4th in Montreal and 6th at Quebec Winter Carnival (25 cars total)
- Winter Rally Sprint in Ste-Agathe, Qc
1990 7th in Fiat X-1/9 (1ST REAR WHEEL DRIVE) (50+ entrants)
1991 4th in VW Jetta (2nd TWO WHEEL DRIVE) (50+ entrants)
- Canadian Autoslalom Championship (AUTOCROSS)
1985 2nd G-STOCK (Innocenti SL)
1986 6th C-STOCK (Porsche 944)
1988 2nd H-STOCK (Toyota Tercel)
1989 3rd H-STOCK (Subaru GL sedan)
1990 1st D-STOCK (Fiat X-1/9)
- Karting for fun from 1995 to 1997
- Driving instructor for years in club and provincial events in autoslalom, rally, ice racing and road racing.

Normal non digital pictures would require a scanner...if it's a digital camera, just plug in the cord to the computer and it turn the camera on, it'll auto transfer them.

Yeaahh, they are normal good 'ol 80's-90's pictures. So I should find someone who would scan them for me and then e-mail them to me ??

The only thing Ive done is a few SCCA autocross events near my school, other than that I havnt done anything. They are a ton of fun and exciting to see some of the nice cars autocrossing. The last event I was at a new Z06 decided he wanted to lose control and go into a pole...ouch. I need to buy some new tires before I go again.

probably the best idea ;)
or, you could be a little bit annoying to a company or a local school (they on holiday...) and ask to borrow a scanner and do it there... might work... but might not either :p

Nice record, crossle 32f.
There is a remote chance that some younger regs will read this and grasp the concept that speed is more about control than applied HP. Some of them won't, and are likely to depart this plane of existence in a year or two.

a potential 2008 entrant here, once i'm 21, the westfield and i are gonna run it, well, probably do the Cannonball first, then Gumball maybe, but by then it may be too high profile, and then i'll just do the Drivers Run on Cannonball, just for the experience
