I want to do a comparo with the different types of racing. The following are what is going to be included.

Nascar Vs. F1 Vs. CART Vs. IRL

I do need help with this so if any one has the specs for F1, CRAT, or IRL then please post them. I have the specs for Nascar so dont bother with them. This is just for my info.

This is just to find out what people like. I know that there are many different types of racing but I have choose these 4 because they seem to be the ones more people know.

Anyway just say what one you like and why. And try to refrain from making fun of Nascar.

Since I am a big Nascar fan Im going with it. Its fun to watch and the cars are not that hi tech. It also shows driver skill, as there is no traction control and the transmission is still a syncro. tranny.

man you forgot rally, its probably more world widely seen thatn IRL or CART, just choose one of those two but not both....that way you get 2 open wheel car races, one rally race, and one cant turn right races

F1 is by far the best, I don't know about American Racing, but in Australia we have the v8 supercars, so i will compare f1 to them. The main difference is that in the v8s there are two different cars, holden commodores, and ford falcons so the thirty or so teams all have basically the same car, they have basically the same budgets etc. Ppl say this is great coz it is a real Driver V Driver thing, but i find it boring (and slow). To me racing is not just Driver V Driver it is Driver/Car V D/C. This is F1. I know these days the cars are getting closer to each other with FIA regulations (and I think this is a pity) but they are still vastly different. They are amazing pieces of technology and this is one of the best things about them. F1 is the pinnacle of racing and it rocks.

Rally just a little bit more than F1, but both very much. cart and irl i dont follow very much.

And if anyone here is passionte about NASCAR i'd like to know why. Just because i've nevr had any intrest and i'd like to hear someone who is passionate about it say why they like it, who knows i could even start respecting it like i do other motorsports.
now i'm sure alot of ppl are going to crack the same lame joke as a response to this post....

same budgets, barely TWR (being holden racing team) is still funded by holden even though they no longer own the franchise due to regulation change. Different amounts of sponsorship input and merchandise sales contribute to the budget of most teams.

Formula 1 obviously. It's just more interesting.

Nascar comes in second. Believe it or not, it does take alot of skill to do what they do. However, I can't stand the redneck vibe associated with it.

Of the categories listed IRL and NASCAR are the most spectacular.

My personal preferred ones are American LeMans and GrandAm. GrandAm for the last two years has had incredible action and battles on the track in Daytona Prototypes. LeMans is more refined but has less action.

just to fix some things here.....its 900bhp at close to 19,000 rpm, carbon fiber high density exosy with aluminum honey comb is what the cars are made of. engine is actualyy at 149db, ceramic brakes with carbon pads, engine are 3.0 v10, yet next year drop to v8 actual output is close to 2000hp, looses 55-60% to heat, around 1 ton of downforce, cars must weigh a minumum of 600kg(no idea what this is pounds jsut multiply by 2.23). Gold coated or Silver coated rear suspension arms, to disipitate the heat generated from the exhaust....etc......theres much much more....oohh up to 5g forces in cornering acceleration and under breacking

I really don't know the details of the v8 supercars i just meant that in comparison to f1 with budgets above US$400M and huge variations the v8s are similar. What i really think is that the v8s are basically family cars made into race cars in a workshop, whereas F1 cars are pure race cars. (I do love Bathurst though...) That's what is so great about them, they are the pinnacle. Champ cars are crazy and look like oversized go carts. Yeah, F1 rocks. But Bernie, don't downsize the engines, bring back tyre changes, don't cap the budgets at $300M, and let the teams change engine as often as they like :)

Well..Mopar...I understand it's probably a physically demanding sport...
and it has to take SOME amount of skill to drive as close and as consistantly as those guys do..

but...
it's still 700 laps of a circle....of nothing but left hand turns..

I could give a RATS ass..

Isn't the record for place change like.....10 or something? out of a 50-60 car field?

Please....I could care less

Well, the way I see it, baseball takes tons of skill, but I'd never watch it. Same with Nascar. I suppose that's the point you're trying to make.

The thing that brings fame to NASCAR is that through advertising they are making stars of the drivers, and with the on-track collisions and resulting anger between some drivers it's developing into a real life "Days of our Lifes" soap. There is a kind of "planet NASCAR" and you may wish or not to be part of it. I find myself listening to Nascar Nation almost every night on Speed TV. It's becoming a daily addiction.

When I was younger and road racing I didn't want to hear about circle tracks, but now I'm getting slowly hooked by this kind of racing.
It either pushes or it's loose, so they all work to find the right balance during the race. They're so equal that nothing else will decide of the outcome. Besides a tap on the rear bumper, of course...

But then it just gives substance to the ongoing soap...

just to let y'all know, NASCAR does go to Infineon. However it is set up differently to accomodate the inferiority of stock cars.F1 is definitely the best.

And we have still no info about Heniz-Harald Frentzens condition, have we?

what about MotoGP, World Super Bikes, A1, SUPER GT (JGTC), V8 SUPER CARS and WRC?

I find V8 SUPERCARS to be more entertaining than F1, F1 is fast loud and highly popular, but over the years has become less interesting, its going to be good to see the new ideas/rules going to be applyed next year and years to come, for me this will make it far more interesting as there are way to many driver aids which takes away from driver talent.

MotoGP has been excellent this year as always. World Super Bikes which hasn't been televised in Australia for a couple of years now due to TV rights. But what i have seen has been great, good to see an AUSSIE up there, which isn't anything un-usual in bike racing.

SUPER GT the championship has been so close this year between Nismo, Toyota Team Toms and Honda Racing Team
One round to go Honda is 1st Nismo 6points below that and Toyota 4points below Nismo. At this stage anyone could win.

A1 some of the tracks are letting it down i think, but the racing is excellent, there cars more around so much more than an F1 car, it seems to be more challenging for the drivers than F1 aswell, the best is still yet to come as it grows.

I don't really watch racing that much.
I'll watch bits of V8 supercars and F1 but thats about it. I think there needs to be constant place changes and drifting ect in F1 and V8.
I know that the drivers will never drift in F1 cause that lets other teams through.
Dose any one know if they show rally's in Australia on either free to air or pay T.V.

yeah they occasionally show it on free to air tv. channel 10 on saturday and sunday afternoons regarding v8 supercars or motogp is not on tv at that time.

I love Australian V8 SuperCars. bad that they don't show it anymore here. Last race I saw was the one that a Holden or Ford don't remember but whas White,Blue and Red colors crashd in the green flag and was very scary. Me I prefer F1, WRC, V8SC, DTM, FIA GT, Euro GT, ALMS and Plane races. don't care bout IRL, Nascar, CART, JPGT. they just suk.

it is either BOC gases driven by John Bowe or Brad Jones, probably one of the three rounds in a row where bard jones rolled, or it is team fujitsu which have not had any spectacular crashes this year.
