Rx8 or Rx7 which do you like and why. I choose the Rx8 because it has more room on the inside and a 246 bhp engine.

The engine (Renisis Rotary) that is in the RX8 was voted best in its class according to the CAR AND DRIVER MAG in JAN '03. Also the price is going to start at around 27 as opposed to the almost 40 grand for the previous RX7

Ok, take a picture of the grille of the RX-8 , and put two teeth in it's grill. Tell me it doesn't look like a rabbit. I don't get the styling of the RX-8. I like the RX-7 better. It's so much more simpler to get, or at least this is the case for the styling.

It's true that the design of the RX7 was better, but overall I think that the RX-8 will be a better car.

You can get a new Mazda RX-8 for what? Around 27k US $. For a used RX-7? Depending on condition and mods, WHO KNOWS? You don't know if anything's gonna go bad within the first year you have it and anything from the body to the upholstry can be in bad condition. You get a RX-8 with a warranty, everything is extremely functioninal, and you can bring your friends along for a very fun ride.
Money aside, I'd take a premierly conditioned RS with mods up to wazoo(where ever that is), get a sleek, not overly large, bodykit and some nice OZ rims. Kick a throbbing beast of a sound sytem in there and I'd be a happy camper. Realistically, Thats what? over 100k just in the mods and accesisries department, and who knows how much a mint condition RS goes for?
So for my money? RX-8 with a side of three other people. I'd hope they come out with a single or twin turbo kit in the near future. That would get my invesment also.
(I'm not gonna even think about the wicked output tht would get  )

True, but I just like the styling of the RZ (the headlights seem to be more stylish)
Anywayz, I wasn't thinking about warranties or anything like that.
I was thinking about a brand new off the shelf RZ (if I could go back in time to '95 and get one :D )

you know what, i've changed my mind. The MAZDASPEED Protege probaly my favorite mazda. It's so cool looking. Everything is in preportion. The styling is so simple. I'm so sick of car looking really intimidating, such as the EVO and the WRX. The Protoge is calm and collected. It has a subtle body kit and wing. IT has just enough power to get the job done, and it's maybe 10k less than the RX-8.

Jul 25, 2003, 4:39 AM
Hehe, I know what you mean. After a while Intimidating gets very repetitive. And your comments strated me thinking too. But, after all's said and done, it's the rotary for me. The MAZDASPEED Protege is a way cool car and so is the Protege 5. Still, I'd think I'd preffer the RX-8. Soooo much more practicle than the RX-7.

I guess I'm gonna have to change my decision on the RX7.
It's because I just saw a red RX8 (the best color yet 8) ) in front of the Mazda dealership in my town.
Holy shit:!: :!: :!:
It looks so much better if you see it in person :!: :!: :!:

And i thought he was faster ??

But I think the Fast and the Furious cars are a little too ricey....
For example, all the cars in the movie have so much vinyl
I'd rather have a more clean, un-stickered look to my tricked out ride (keep it discreet :D )

Jul 29, 2003, 10:28 PM
i totally agree with you. Infact, If i had an RX-7, there's a 95% chance it would never see a body kit. It's so cliche.

Jul 30, 2003, 11:15 AM
Wow, I totally change my choice as well. The RX-8 is a great new car, but... I've been playing alot of Sega GT for my Dreamcast recently and unlocked a new cars. It's an RX-7 A-Spec Type-15th, a MAZDASPEED tuned RX-7! I guess it's one of those things you just never hear about in the states on a normal basis. There's a body kit, yes, but its very subtle and purely for areodynamic purposes. Theres a wicked cool hood and the spoiler looks like it's totally practile. The 654x2 cc rotary is screaming out 309 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque. I think its the best looking, and best performing RX anytthing I've seen, ever. Sorry RX-8, until you get a MAZDASPEED tuned model....no dice

Actually, I miscalculated the hp on the 7 and Charger. The 7 makes 476 hp and the Charger makes 767 hp.
Anywayz, the 1/4 mile for the 7 is 10.466 sec and the Charger's run is 10.564 sec

Haha! I WISH! No, they named the collection of cars in the game a 'Garage' White Night, it makes for alot of confusion, sorry  You know, like in GT4
My best times (in the game  ) are in the GT Concept(over 1000 hp!), slays on the strip like nothing else. For the Track my Elise has no match for handling and the turbo 4 gives more than enough power. My X-Box is at my aparetment so i can't tell you what the exact figures are, I'm at home for the summer. My apartment is in Toledo  vrooom

 WK: the real thing's called "My Garage," and it's where you can change your ride, change tires, tune suspension, adjust boost pressure, etc.
 Raith: Do you drift or grip the corners :?: :?: :?: I have tried to experiment w/ this and I'm getting different results everytime :!: :!: :!:
Raith83
Aug 04, 2003, 2:02 AM
I always have grip unless its rear wheel drive. Its easier to drift and easier to control the drifting in RWD. I need to play more to experiement though. (Depens ont he car too though)
RiceBoy
Aug 04, 2003, 3:50 AM
I know, my Type R cannot drift whatsoever, even if I push it to.
And I'm trying to drift with my 7, but It's kinda hard to master (actually, to be honest with you, I'm not actually drifting; I just slide into the corners; I don't know where to start in order to know how to drift :( )

the RX-7 looks way better than the RX-8 but the RX-8 has better technology and is affordible in a way the RX-7 never was.

I've seen ONE RX-7 this summer and have NEVER seen an 8, EVER. I drive between my home town and Toledo fairly often(150 mile trip, one way)and have seen neither head or tail of an RX-8. I haven't even seen one at the 3 Mazda dealerships in Toledo! But hey, Ohio just sucks like that I guess

Very beautiful landscapes and the houses are rarely less than 100 yards apart from each other. I forget where he lives exactly there, though

You know... I expressed my interest in the RX-8 towards on Mazda on its website. A couple of weeks later, they sent me a special brochure with the Road and Track review on it, and all its articles covered on reviews of the RX-8. Towards the end of the brochure, they had a special article on the idea for the MazdaSPEED Rx-8, and a design of what they had in mind... it is HOT!!! I wish I could scan a picture for you, but don't have a scanner around so, if you're really interested goto the Mazda website, and under the RX-8, request info to be sent to your address. I guarantee you you will not be disappointed!!!!!

Thlam
Aug 25, 2003, 1:07 PM
i don't think the mazda 6 was suppose to be a replacement because the masda 6's main competittion are cars like the Honda accord and Toyota camery whereas the millenia was aimed more at the entry level luxury cars like the audi a4 bmw 3 series, lexus es300 and etc. , even though it wasn't much of a competittion

RX-8's are slow.... RX-7 for me because of these facts:
1. Faster on straights
2. Looks like a real sports car (no four door crap)
3. Faster on the track for sure
4. Rotories and Turbo's belong together (just look at the 7B that took LeMans back in 91')
5. RX-8's rev but thats all they do, REV but no GO! into it... trust me, my buddy has one and when I drove it, felt as slow as a Non-turbo Supra.... yes i know, very heavy and slow)
6. RX-7 Turbo II 89'up (FC3s models) have even stronger acceleration

You want acceleration, talk to my friends in Dearborn.
