Does anyone follow this racing series? I recently read a Hot Rod Magazine article and it had Toyotas and GM's cars lined up. It was just amazing how much power the 183 cubic inch straight 6 in the "Solara" was getting. It was more power than the "Grand AMs" 500 cubic inch V-8! Yeah, the I-6 was turbocharged, but I think these examples of extreme tuning show how much technology makes up for dispalcement. LoL 40 psi was the boost setting for the Toyta fyi. I'll post all the specs when I get home and can look at the mag again.

Could you please convert cubic inches to cubic centimeters and psi to bar? :D

Well there are RULES the Pro Srock 500 ci engines are limited to how much power they can make....

and the smaller engines are allowed more power? that makes little to no sense

The "Solara" is a single turbo 2998 cc I-6 that's making over 1,450 hp and just about the same torque. The boost is 40psi ~ 2.758 BAR. Insane, no? The GM's 8193 cc V-8 isn't making as much power. Which isn't saying alot, because a 1,300+ horse pwoer engine isn't anything to scoff at. It's just amazing though that the leetle turbo I-6 is making more power. Anyone who says that small displacement means less performance needs this wake up call.

I'd like to see someone stick a top fuel engine in, say, something absolutely ridiculous. Like anything NOT a funny car. Cause it'd be absolutely useless and beyond exessive. Power is nothing without control.
