Mitsubishi Motors to suspend participation in the FIA World Rally Championship (http://car.kak.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=4891&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0)
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced that it has decided to suspend participation in the FIA World Rally Championship series from 2006. With the Mitsubishi Motors Revitalization Plan as a basis, MMC has made a solid start toward revitalizing its business operations. However, to strengthen and build upon this base, MMC realizes that it must focus management resources on the continued promotion of the revitalization plan.
Mitsubishi Motors hopes to return to the WRC Championship series from 2008, after the completion of the 3-year revitalization plan, which covers fiscal 2005 to 2007.
This decision however does not extend to MMC's efforts in the Dakar Rally (commonly known as Paris-Dakar). Mitsubishi Motors will continue to compete in this event.
Starting with an overall championship in the Safari Rally in 1974, the Mitsubishi WRC Team has accomplished a spectacular 34 wins in the WRC series. The team won the drivers' title 4 consecutive years from 1996 to 1999, and won the prestigious manufacturers' title in 1998.

Why are all official teams (Citroen, Peugeot, Mitsubishi, Skoda) leaving WRC in 2006? The only one left is Ford WRC team...

They need to focus their directions on sales and improving them, not rally. MMC are still in dire straights and they have much more important things than rallies to consider.

I thought they quit because they couldn't win...but oh well, I suppose being "broke" is a good reason too...

Citroen will have to provid some sort of car and team. What are they just gonna pay Sebastian Loeb to sit on his backside till 2008?

all these teams have moved to private companies appart from subaru and ford but the others are still rallying but with crappy looks.
but these raly teams are sending false infomation so they can leave us waiting for their debut and also to hide the cars technoligy untill the monte carlo rally this year, which everything will clear up and they will finaly revial their cars
(just a quick question ... are you allowed to use signatures on this forum?)

they do this every time they reliease a new car, because it makes people cant wait to see it
so i guess if anyone wants to see the new citroen or subaru ect you have to wait untill the monte carlo rally which is 2/3 days away

if you know that the cars isn't going to work how it is supposed to but still enter it your stupid wait a season instead of entering an unfinished/unreliable car

as long as their car crosses the finish line then they will get points.... its just a 50/50 chance that their car crosses the line.

They have bigger fish to fry than rallying. Shi tsubishi are still in deep financial trouble and they need to concentrate their efforts on turning the company around.

I know for sure they are just about broke in Australia.
WRC isn't going to be that great with only 2 offical teams.

so if your broke don't compete at al don't make bullS car that compete three rallies and put all your money in the company there still stupid:P

Yes, rescuing the company is far more important than making up the numbers in rallying. They are not overly successful at the present day in the WRC so rescuing the company sounds like a smart idea.

sound smart i can understand it from a marketing prospect but there failling big so it doesn't look that great from a maketing prospect so i think they should really stop entering cars in the ralley world

AWDfreak
Jan 28, 2006, 11:29 AM
^^^^Isn't that the Group with little or no restrictions? Stupid Ford RS200 or whatever it is, it banned Group B, it would've been cool to see Group B at a time where technology rules..........
Impreza WRC
Jan 28, 2006, 1:27 PM
if only ford didnt use that rs200 ... its a good car but its steering is so sharp and with almost 400bhp behind it .... it was lethal to rally with .... so i guess that why it whent straight into that crowed.
