I use to have a 3.1 cavalier, and it made civics and integras look like they were parked! I had been racing for fuun sence i was 15 (yes, before i got my licence). About this time last year, my gf, who i am still with, trashed my 3.1. it was completly destroyed!
I did not get another 3.1 like i wanted to. i baught a diesel jetta, because i have a 100 mile commute. 3.1 was too hard on gas.
needless to say, i have never raced sence. not i am itching to start smoking my friends with their civics and acura's again. never been a big fan of either. i don't want another 3.1 becasue of the few that are left, they are all probably rusted away pieces of junk by now (thats canadian winters for ya)
so far, i have considered two options. the nissan 240sx and the mazda mx-3. i decided not to go with either becasue the 240sx wasen't as fast as i thought it was going to be and the mx-3's displacement is just too small, i think atleast
so, i am asking you fine lady's and gentlement. what kind of car should i get to start beating all my friends again.

i don't think your question is in the right forum but non the less your question isn't clear , you didn't say were your from ( to know the prices ) you didn't give us the price range , you didn't give us anything else except you need a fast car !

is it for "drag racing " like in straight line ,
or like a race with corners ! which will give us the question do you need a fast car in straight line or fast and good handling

pretty much, its just a straight line. theres several old air strips around my area that are perfect for dragging. i would like to buy something that woulden't cost much more than 10 grand. i have been thinking fo a eclipse/talon/laser car, but i am not really sure, if it would be worth it, since i don't know alot about imports.
what to you guys think

becasue someday i am going be sitting there thinking i know what i am talking about, go out, buy a nos kit, the totally **** my engene up! so if i buy used, i woun;t be as upset! just so happens, my friend lost his licence, and is selling his 97 talon. 2 leter, 16 valve, DOHC, turbo (dispite the fact the guy who sold it to him says its not a turbo, when it is!), and its AWD. it wants 6500 for it. this is the kind of car i am looking for. would buy his, but he doesn't want me to for some reason....

Well you can rest easy because that car will never be made, Chrysler said it themselves.

And as far as a car, if you want a Asian car get a 1st gen Eclipse/Talon Turbo....cheap and easy to make quick.

any other suggestions? a friend of mine suggested an audi 5cyl turbo. he has one him self, and it is a very impressive car. it made an 03 integra look like it was parked. I considered an audi meself, problem is, they are so few and far between. i know of one for sale, but its not worth repairing. i am also seriously considering an eclipse/talon/laser turbo though. just doing some research before i buy, thats alll

or you could just get a streetbike. Thats the best option for just going fast.

I always suggest the GTi 1.8T
you can get a used one for 10 or less and you get solid hp and torque numbers in a really responsive car that can be EASILY upgraded with very low budgets.
