I downloaded that exact vid (but better res) from RacingFlix a couple of weeks ago.
It's totally crazy how much speed he builds in such a short amount of time, then the brakes haul it up even more impressively.
Damn does he have balls too, there are some parts where you would just think (actually, just do) back off but he keeps on pressing and piling up the speed.

What car is it? Where is it driving? Damn. - Well the Japanese flag and the engine sound is slandering about the 2005 Dome Le Mans racer, which Seji Ara was driving... but...wha... yeh..?

Was it a Japanese driver? A lot of Japanese drivers are experienced on driving on twisting and narrow roads like those. They have some clips of people racing along these mountain roads on like Best Motoring. Also probably the influence of Initial D =)

Yes, I'm sure hill climbs, which have been going on for about a century, were the product of a Japanese cartoon.
The car, as far as I know, isn't a Lemans car. That's exactly what I thought at first. I went on another forum, however, and found out that it's called a Norma M20 3L. It has a very high-strung BMW M3 inline 6 engine. Seems to be pretty fast.

That one has a Honda engine, though.
I'm sure the driver wasn't feeling any fear. You see, when you're a passenger, you notice things like trees, people, and hundred foot cliffs flying by next to you. When you're driving, all you can see is the road, and you never think of anything else. I'm sure some people can relate to that. I've done some mountian riding and driving, and when I'm going, I don't think about anything except pushing myself faster. It's interesting, cause you still have your reflexes (i.e. you'd stop if a deer or something ran out in front of you), but you're in a completely different state of mind.

I have tremendous amounts of respect for this fellow.
One thing I definately hate when driving in a really fast car is.... corners.
I'd definately pile the thing in one of those ubersized bricks next to the road in too many locations, just as I tend to do in videogames. (this said I'd love to drive that uphill in my FC)
The uphill looks very familiar though.
Anyone have a clue where it is the guy is driving? (people found out the car, driver and the amount of deer it would take to stop the vehicle already. I'm sure someone will know where he's driving)

It's not a Radical. Read my post. Damn.
It's probably a hill climb in France. It might part of a WRC stage.

Nah - that's the fun part.
And I've seen that video before and think it has been sped up some. Not to say drivers don't drive that fast, but that one is suspicious. Too jerky where it should not be.
Maybe.

I missed this thread earlier. Doh! Of course it's a hillclimb. Standing start, spectators, and a finish line are giveaways. I think this car exceeds 100 mph maybe twice in this video; the driver is actually pretty conservative in the turns. If you have the baddest ride on the hill, why kill yourself?
At the late Chimney Rock NC hillclimb, the guys who swapped the record for years used old Formula Ford 1600 tube chassis. Outboard springs allowed them to seriously shorten the wheelbase (feet up front). They used IMSA GTU spec Mazda motors making 250HP+ and high mounted (at both ends) wings that would make an outlaw sprint car jealous (would you believe 12" beyond the wheels?). Their motto was: "If you're not on the gas or on the brake; you're wasting time."
The driver in the video wastes lots of time...

I saw this vid on racingflix and there it says that this is Audi R8 doing a demo run at 2005 Rallye de Catalonia in Spain. I don't know what to think about it after mopar find out it's Norma.

It's not an R8. I got my info from another forum. The person who posted it said that there is no way an R8 could drive like that. It's a very large car, and it wouldn't be able to so some of those turns. It doesn't even sound like an R8. It sounds like a very angry bee, hence the BMW M3 engine.

Now i'm also sure it's not an Audi R8. I watched this vid few times compared it to some pictures of Audi R8 and it's preety clear it's not Audi. I only don't know why on racingflix they wrote that it's Audi R8.
