My 91 5.0 is having probs starting back up once driven somewhere. It'll only start on a cold engine. You can smell the fuel when cranking it over, and there's spark to the distributor. There's a new ignition module, plugs, wires, coil, starter, battery...I can't figure it out. Someone please help.

u could have a leaking injector, causing the engine to flood after it is shut off, and the fuel is still hot. u shouldn't smell fuel otherwise. once the fuel cools down the fuel "expands" and doesnt leak as much, letting the excess drain into the engine, or return to the tank, and the car will start. The only other possibility I can think of is ur timing being off and running lean, or possibly an oxygen sensor. I have a 95 cobra, and at one time, it would start and die, replace the 0-2 sensor and take off.

Sounds to me like your starter is getting hot...
You are smelling fuel because when you crank it the unburned gasoline stays
in the chamber a while. You might need a stater heat shield.

Doubt its starter related. Those rarely go out on fox's. If he is smelling fuel it could be a leaking injector. Isit puffing tons ofsmoke (black) out the exhaust when you start it or when it eventually DOES crank? When you say wont start when hot do you mean it cranks or it doesnt crank. Thats where bluecamss is getting his idea from I think. More information please.

hi all,
It depends of in which level the fuel's smelling, if even from the admission , it may be a problem in distribution system. the auther possibility's test a new calculator unit.
